  1. Not sure the round trip from Norfolk would make too much sense, ah well. Costco card yes.......I then moved 90 minutes from nearest one I'll skip on the audition for wise old man this year.
  2. 118.7!!! Where is this mythical garage! Currently blessed with 134.9, 142.9 for the super stuff.
  3. Can't recommend Chris enough. A pleasure to deal with and the photos don't do it justice. Thanks once again @HDCarCare
  4. Oddly enough I find myself driving at a more relaxed pace with dsg, but when the mood takes you paddles or manual mode is always there
  5. I made the swap from Tdi manual (Leon 48mpg) to Tsi dsg Vrs and bar the obvious increase in fuel stops I don't regret it. I do a 38 mile B road round trip 6 days in 10, average 37mpg Was never a dsg person and wanted a manual but couldn't find one. Drove dsg and thought I could live with it. The more I drive it the more I enjoy it.
  6. Thanks, nearly bought a 230 with black pack but went with this one, winter and canton won me over. Always had aftermarket setups but growing up prevent that now. For the original option cost don't think you could better it aftermarket. I'm glad the previous owner ticked the box. Whilst I would normally do my own cars I paid for this one to be detailed by a professional. Bit nervous about paying someone for what I (thought I) could do myself but as it turns out he did job a thousand times better than I could ever have done.
  7. Had this exact problem with mine. Tried SD slots 1&2 Tried various ways of putting the files onto the card (both folders, just the mib1 folder etc) In the end put it on a usb stick, exactly what I had on SD card, popped it in and it worked! So try it via a usb stick. Think others have had similar issue via SD card, seams a bit hit and miss.
  8. Joined the TSi club a few months ago. Winter pack and canton being the highlights. Finally got it detailed so I'm happy now.
  9. @CookieMonster87 like wise wanted a manual ended up getting dsg and I'm liking it. Sods law I bought mine and a dame spec manual turned up 3 weeks later. I switched from an old 1.9pd 150. Only do about 9k a year, at the moment based on by 36mpg average and cost of petrol being lower it's about an extra £30 a month in fuel
  10. There's one here? Not sure what spec your after. I was also looking for same car in same colour, found one but just a Little too much. Ended up with one in blue, less mile and heated screen for less money. I spent 6 months looking for a grey one before hand! A little bit of a trip mind. https://www.churchsperformancecars.co.uk/fAQF71IPydXSoTuM
  11. I've don't have either however like you I've searched and searched for reviews. Ultimately the main difference being that the more expensive unit comes with built in maps, the other uses smart Link via your phone's maps, which the more expensive unit also has. A friend is in the business and is still in the process of persuading me to buy the unit (built in maps version). He has seen it in action and says it is superb given it links with cars oem functions/displays. The sound quality would be an improvement over most factory fitted stuff. If you have canton you need an extra part in order for the alpine to talk to the amplifier. Given your fitting your own I'll assume you've not got canton.
  12. No just the front one, a friend owns the company that fitted it so got a bit of a last minute bargin. Since I've moved from Kent to Norfolk and changed my commute from the M20 to B roads the amount of people taking offside bends on wrong side of road drives me mad so with new car, I've invested in this should the worse happen
  13. Just had Blackvue 650 fitted as per pics. Hidden by rear view mirror from my persepctive.
  14. I've just made the switch after 12 years with diesel, admittedly non dpf. My annual mileage hasn't changed, 9k, but my driving has. Previously it was 26mile motorway commute with half a mile either side which would suit a newer dpf equipped diesel. Now it's an 18 mile cross country B road only commute up and down between 30-60mph. This wouldn't suit a dpf. So a switched to a Tsi vrs. On a lazy commute it will still do 41mpg. I was paying 139.9 for diesel I'm now paying 127.9 for super unleaded, 122.9 for the 95ron stuff. So running costs I used to do 630miles a tank at 139.9 I'm now doing 420 at 127.9. I'll let someone else do the maths but for me I feel no worse off, pounds in it if anything.
  15. You may well have bought tyres by now but I can share info on the Bridgestones and Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance. The Bridgestones are very hard wearing, we have just replaced the original ones on the rear of our 2010 Octy estate at 70k! They still had 4.5mm left. They were the originals based on the date of tyre manufacture and were well over recommended 6yr limit. They were like hard plastic bands. They were on the front of the car, again originals when bought at 30k. These were replaced as they were awful in the wet with the Goodyears. The good years have worn through and now need replacing again (yet the Bridgestones on the rear are still going). The Goodyears offer a great balance of grip, economy and performance albeit they are on a 1.6tdi so nothing special. Albeit all our fleet run these and they are very good at high speed on higher powered cars too so can highly recommend them. As the Goodyears were worn and the Bridgestones needed to be replaced due to now being well past 6year date and like plastic bands all four were replaced with Avon ZV7's. This due to the fact they were cheap, £180 for 4 fitted (205/55/16) and I had previously had the ZV5's on a warm diesel hatch and thought they were 'decent enough'. And the fact they were only going on a 1.6tdi meant it was a good option both financially and for safety. Can't comment on the other options you've had but if you have "eco" branded tyres regardless of manufacturer you should see an improvement in grip particularly in the wet if you go with any of the mid to high branded non eco tyres.
  16. 2015 vrs tsi £290 fully comp, 35, full ncb protected.
  17. I've just sold my old Leon diesel (2005 150tdi So no dpf) and gone for a petrol vrs. I do 9k a year, my old journey was 26 miles up the motorway (about 1 mile either side of motorway) each way to work. My new journey is 18 miles each way to work and cross country, so no constant high speed high rev driving. I thought long and hard about getting a diesel (and as you point out they did tend to be cheaper on the whole like for like) but the annual mileage and fact dpf was never really going to get a good run for decent amount of time meant the sounder buy for me was petrol. Just my rationale for thought.
  18. Had it done on both mine, dealer paid for new one so not sure on cost. The other Octavia estate we had done locally (Kent) and paid £180 for b pillars back. I researched locally and the guy I went with then got recommended to me after I booked so all good. Most will have a Google rating or Facebook page rating, can only do so much research before you plump for a company local to you. Both done for kids benefit and keep cars a little cooler in the heat.
  19. Nowhere near Canterbury but I too couldnt stretch to Lepsons prices ao I used Rimtec in Meopham. Just incase you find no one else. Very happy and I was able to borrow a loan set of wheels. £230 for all 4 upto 18". I paid extra as had specific paint I wanted. Had them done as same problem, inner edge had corroded on rear alloys.
  20. Hatch or estate? I know in the FL the estate uses 21w bulbs and the canbus adjust the feed. The hatch uses 21/5w for stop and tail / tail and fog. If you have a 21/5w in an eatate it will perminantly show 21w hence looks like your fog/brake lights are on. My two pence worth.
  21. Im pleased, time will tell about application but theres a life time guarantee and company was reccomended. Theres not a lot of difference when sitting in looking out, say through rear view mirror. Had in done to keep glare of kids and car cooler overall.
  22. Just in case people wanted to know what a Cappuccino beige estate and meduim tints look like. The light tint was lighter than standard sunset (which was the look I wanted) and this was the next one up. Looks a lot darker in the images than real life.
  23. Congratulations first off. Get some sleep now! We are 9 months in to our parenting lifetime so ill share the following. We bought one thing each month so pram/car seat/cot thus sharing the cost of the big items. In no particular order. Car seat - we bought isofix as a previous child seat fitting guru in a previous life I have seen the pros and cons from the manafacturers. The grandparents dont have isofix so they bought the normal base and we just swap the seat about. Cot - we bought a cotbed in the hope it will last much longer and convert, yep into a bed. Little man sleeps in his slepping bag (i call it a grow bag). Moses basket - we inherited one (from 1980) and bought anew mattress from mothercare for £10. Dont spend mega money and feel free to buy a good second hand one. As mentioned your replace the matress anyway. Harry was in his till 4 months then went in his own room. Nappies - we bought in bulk from Costco but in reality its just as cheap to buy the own brand ones. We use Morrisons and they are fine. We do use the pampers dry night ones over night though, they do 12hrs dryness and Harry has never leaked. Buy lots budget 10 a day you wont go wrong. You can adjust that in the first month when you start getting used to how many your need. Buggy/pram - think ahead! Will you be adding to the family (I dont mean a dog/cat). We planned to have another which is cooking right now. So we looked at a pram that could convert to take two. We looked at loads started at £200 went to £1000 and ended up spending £550. We have a dog so we wanted a good strong unit that would last walking the dog over the park (just to confirm we push Harry in the pram whilst walking the dog, the dog doesnt go in the pram). In short we use it a lot and wanted ultimate flexibility and ease of use. We ended up with and iCandy apple 2 pear. Tet drive test drive test drive. Sound silly but go to a big mothercare/baby shop and test loads of brands what works for one might not work/be easy for you and your lady. Its a big purchase. Nursery - easy! Paint white buy wall stickers to add colour and fun. We spent £12 on a big tub of white paint added a stripe with left over paint and then bought wall stickers for £40. They peel off without damaging paint too. Luxurys - the one toy we bought was the tommy tippie quick bottle maker. A god send at 2am, 2mins bottle made, non of this waiting for kettle to boil and cool it down in cold water. Bottles - buy a couple to see if your new one likes it. Sounds silly but tommy tippie were to fast for Harrry so we changed to another brand KUK or something but didnt work either. Ended up with dr browns bottles. So we now have about 8 bottles we dont use. Sterilsier - dont buy fancy microwave one. Tradilional water and tablet. Fill it up tablet in, sorted for 24hrs. So much eaiser. Mothercare do a basic £10 jobbie online. Same the hospitals use. We bought a microwave one, dont use it we just fill with water and use tablets. Wipes - buy in bulk from Costco. We use the kirkland ones. 900 a time we are on third box!!. Buy a little basket or two to keep nappies, nappie bags (buy dog poo bags much cheaper, supermarket own brand 300 bags for £1 odd) cream, wipes and cotton wool in. Dot them around the house. We have one in our room one in the living room and in draw in nursery. That way your never far from a full changing kit! Clothes - buy enough for a couple of days. Everyone else will buy you clothes. After 3 months we packed away two huge suitcases of clothes some never worn. Do what you both want. We are lucky to have parents who supported us in what we wanted to do. We have friends whose parents (mums) know best and push things such as breast feeding/sleep times etc. Do what you wnat and what you feel is right. Dont be pressured. Dont worry about calling the midwives/dr/111 its what they are there for. Chances are skin will go really flakey looks like horrendous sun burn in first few weeks - thats normal. Sometimes they poo 10 times a day then not at all for a day or two. Thats normal too. Theres too much to mention. Routine - get a routine as soon as you can. We are lucky harry goes down about 8 and is up at 6. As a nap about 11 and 3 for an hour or so. Bath time at 7 bottle and bed. Harry suffered from colic and 100% tongue tie. This meant it took an hour and a half to feed 2 onces and we had to feed 2 ounces every 3 hours, you do the maths of sleep/awake! His colic wore iff at 4 months but this 4 months felt like 4 years. Wouldnt change it for the world. Theres loads more but hopefully a start for you. Plan and do whats best/suits you. You work it out pretty quick. Congratulations again.
