5W and 10W were synthetics, even with 10W semisynthetic i didn't had this. Link not working. Sorry, an error occurred. Please reload this page. Felicia Combi 1.3 - what oil?
I remembered that many years ego there was a test here in a magazine showing the differences between oil filters (cut of-inspection inside etc). As for the Catalytic, Felicia hasn't so many sensors as other newest models, keep in mind that the ECU couldn't find the wrong Lambda sensor that i had (seller's mistake) and caused me in fuel. I don't think that the Felicia electronics are so sophisticated and keep in mind that this occurred only with the 15W-50, never had this with other viscosities as 5W or 10W. MAHLE (KNECHT/MAHLE): OC 986 I will keep that code in mind, i haven't seen that code in Greek shop.

Felicia Combi 1.3 - what oil?
I post what i hear from the engine, the behaviour, the rev up capability, the fuel consumption, there are facts that i can ignore. I can't close my eyes and pretend that i can't hear or i don't understand. Mahle OC 981? Can not find Knecht here, as for Hengst i will make a call to: https://filters.gr/hengst-filters/ For first time after 15 years the engine at Clod Start 2 times had a sound of a 70's-80's engine with the choke lever closed, brrr brrr like it's going to turn-off.

Felicia Combi 1.3 - what oil?
Another test today, 11 km of light traffic and boulevard where i manage to engage 4th gear for a while and 13 Km with very heavy traffic. In the morning the fuel consumption was 12,2 and at night 12,7 ltr / 100 Km. The first Cold start was weird, with temperature at 9 'C the needle was at 900-950 rpm trembling a bit and the motor had a rough sound like was trying to go higher but something couldn't let it. In few minutes everything was fine but when the engine get warm the rev up in boulevard didn't let me happy. Also at night the coolant temperature was one click above from the previous 5W-40 limit. My Trusty does not like the 15W-50.

Ignition barrel wiring favorit
Old cars easily to steal often used by robbers as a ''Battering Ram'' for smashing a shop window, can not used in a bank robbery for example because they are not fast to get away from Police.

Yes, the far right is deeper red than the other two, the far left can be considered as orange (the camera flash confuses the distinction).

Felicia Combi 1.3 - what oil?
1) With 15W-50 the fuel consumption (in the same terrible City traffic) immediately raised. Let's hope won't go any further but i don't think will reduced. 2) The sound of the motor in idle is a bit quieter, sounds with more ''bass'', the car also is one click quieter in 1500-2000 rpm. 3) I haven't got the chance to go to a boulevard to see how it goes after 4000 rpm but i have tried till 3500 and does not rev up so fast as the 5W-40 because the oil is thicker. In few days i will make a trip and i will see how it goes in Highway and then in Mountain Roads but i am not optimistic about the 15W viscosity.

Engine bay surprises
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanI remembered another one ''Engine surprise", few years back i had an annoying squeaking noise (metal to metal) from the radiator area, i checked and was that black metallic cover where the fan is supported. As i look it from above everything looked fine but when i grab and shake it was moving a bit from the lower side, i said this to a mechanic and he started ''it's an old car...it's normal due age....below has plastic sockets that must be broken" etc. I insist to check it and when a day i went for oil-filter change i said to him to make an inspection. Few hours later when i went to take it he said that he fixed, i made a quick check and yes was not moved as before (he didn't said what he has done). After some days the same problem, at idle the same repeatable metallic noise from engine bay, i opened the hood an yes the cover was slacken so i start cursing. I couldn't anything by myself (as i have said here ) so i went to another repair-shop, when he lift the car and removed the cover he called me ''come and see". The cover has 4 screws (example photo from another Felicia) 2 up and two down and not plastic sockets as the idiot said and guess what? that stupid the first mechanic put a screw like this one ! Which of course due to vibrations got away. In front of me the second mechanic put 2 new bolts and since then everything is fine and as you can imagine the first one got from me a ton of slander words.

Question about clutch and gearbox on 1.6
i had a problem with the shift lever (too loose and after shift engage was trembling a bit) especially in 3rd gear, after engage often in high rpm i was hearing a ''gzzzz" sound. I bought and i ask from the mechanic to install this https://www.skoda-parts.com/data/items/254/5aa278e4b4ab5_xl.jpg and the Rear Gearshift Bush https://www.skoda-parts.com/data/items/289/5dc0172bd879e.jpg both from a Cz store and the problem solved, the gear shift changes are more ''robust'' and no sound.

Felicia Combi 1.3 - what oil?
Felicia has a late 80's engine, i wonder why a Sythtetic can harm selas etc as some say. That's some sort of ''comfort'' to hear, the first impressions from Total Quartz (not Synthetic) are not satisfying me.

Felicia Combi 1.3 - what oil?
Yes, ''Αγορα'' Is in Greek, in ancient Athens was the place for the people to talk for public matters, had the same rules as today in Forum (Admin-Thread opener-Warnings-Ban etc), looked like this: The place among building with seats for the citizens was called ''Orchestra". Now with 15W-50 the Oil light immediately get's off, also i have changed the filter, from previous FIBA i went to MANN and i feel secure.

Engine bay surprises

Engine bay surprises
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanYeah, if i had a backyard with plenty or space, a large lifting jack, a bench, an expensine toolbox,an extra guy to help me and lot of time then yes. Try to work many blocks away from home on the road, in cold, with cars passing very close to you to see that even a bulb change in rear light is difficult. If you need a tool that you haven't in the trunk or an extra hand to help you then "you are finished". I speak by experience 30+ years working in the side of the road with motorcycles-cars.

Engine bay surprises
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanAnother ''engine bay surprise'' today. I asked for an inspection due to my future trip for Christmas, few days ego i noticed that the level of coolant was few cm lower i asked for a Coolant leak test (by ''pressing" as we say it here) and a ''sneaky" leak was found. Sloppy work from previous mechanic with overtighten and a crack show-up in thermostat housing (it's plastic), the leak was on the lower side, not visible as you look the engine bay. Plus some cracks show up in Poly-V belt and i change it as a precaution and the mechanic found one Steering Rack Boot with a cut so i replaced them both.

Question about clutch and gearbox on 1.6
What are the benefits of Kevlar clutches? Often Kevlar is able to withstand 40-50% more heat than organics. Just like organic Kevlar offers smooth engagement and minimal wear of matting surfaces. This friction material will often last two to three times longer than the organic option. These are a good option for slightly modified vehicles and off road use.

Felicia Combi 1.3 - what oil?
Maclaine? _____________________ These are the last (Best-off) fuel consumption photos from 5W-40, i doubt if i see the same with 15W-50. As for the new 15W-50 although it's too early for impressions the first two are: The sound on the idle-first meters in Cold start is different, more quite than 5W , a bit "Suffocated". The first Cold start today also was different, went to 800 rpm limit much faster than 5W-40, i will count it next time. Waiting few days for fuel consumption and rev up capability.

Question about clutch and gearbox on 1.6
Here in Greece for a clutch in Felicia the mechanics ask from 90-120 euros (that's 77-103 £) for fitting only.

Question about clutch and gearbox on 1.6
Depends from the use, city traffic-sport driving means many changes, national highways few changes more easy kilometres. Some say about 120.000 km, the easiest way is the "check with 2nd gear". Different brands, different prices, Vika has much lower price than Sachs. There are "racing" clutches but are not comfortable for every-day driving use. I remember back in 90's with Sport motorcycles, some had those clutches but the drivers weren't happy for city use, stiff and noisy.
