  1. As the weather getting worst the fuel consumption is lowering ! Not good quality photo but it was night and i had no time. As the ambient temperature start rising a bit the fuel consumption followed, one click ''worst'' than Cold weather, i will post some photos in my next post.
  2. While waiting for the next engine oil change (from Synthetic 5W-40 to 10W-40) i post some photos in that non futile and thankfully endless topic. For first time in the latest years the fuel consumption is getting Lower (same route in city traffic). As the weather is getting Cold the fuel consumption will lower more, i will post some photos as a prove.
  3. As for the history: Eibach and Apex have lowering springs especially for Felicia, the Eibach are 40mm and Apex 35mm. If they installed without the proper shock absorber they will ruin it soon and the suspension will not work properly. Factory absorbers or same style won't do, you have to install other brand as Koni for example.
  4. I have done the same in the past, no Skoda-forums, no Youtube, no Skoda manual, no Haynes just my ''inspiration'' but as i see it now was too dangerous. Except scratches could brake the plastic part below the speedometer, a Newbie mistake that never repeated again.
  5. I asked recently this company for a windscreen replacement, they say not worht it if it's from China because will show some distortions in the sun, also i have read complains in forums from other drivers about those.
  6. This company? https://www.hellopeter.com/bsg-glass-fitment-centre
  7. A 1 euro silicone won't do the job as one with 15 euro, there are silicones that can be used in aquarium for example which means can stand to 100% water contact for about 15 years. In the 1st sealant (they call it "Macaroni" or "Cord" here) there are levels of quality too, learn it by bad experience. Here in Greece some companies offer after market windscreens but some of them are from China and there are some kind of ''waves'' in the direct sun while driving. In case of a crash or vandalism if you have insurance the replace is Free but the quality is an issue, some drivers made complains after installation, some don't.
  8. G12 has Density 1,119 g/cm3 an G11 has Density 1.80 g/cm3 that plays any role for the warm-up time? If we heat them for example 3:40 minutes in the end of the test the temperature diferrence would be significant? Who will get warm faster?
  9. Original, Used or after market? Sealant like this https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71pgUvxRs6S._AC_SL1001_.jpg or this? https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/814hEbHhVTL._AC_SL1500_.jpg
  10. The rate of Antifreeze presence in Coolant does not play a crucial role? A 50 water-50% Antifreeze Coolant mixture won't get warm-up later than a 20-80% one?
  11. I think this belong here. So, no matter if it's Stock or with ECU chip, if has stock exhaust or custom, if has factory air filter or cotton gauze or POD, if it's outside the cool air or down in a 5th floor basement etc the warm-up time (from crank and 1100 prm to 800 rpm idle) for Skoda (with VW electronics) Felicia has a 3:40-3:50 minutes as ''standard''. Why? I don't know any more. Can this time reduced or if it's proper to be reduced? I don't know either and as i have seen in forums probably no one knows.
  12. ''Chart-o-mania'' or ''Give Chart to the people''. I have lost the account from oil viscosity charts, anyone publises anything he wants about engine oils. Take a look 2 examples, look the 5W-40.
  13. Those 2 are for Felicia. VW 500 00: Volkswagen specification for multigrade mengine oils for petrol engines with SAE 5W-X/10W-X viscosity. This is an "old" oil specification and is applicable to engines built before model year 2000 (up to August 1999). Oils with an approval made post March 1997 were given an alternative, later VW specification. VW 50101: Conventional motor oils suitable for some VW petrol engines built before MY 2000. This is an “old” oil specification and is applicable to engines built before model year 2000 (up to August 1999). Oils with an approval made post March 1997 were given an alternative, later VW specification. All i said was that here i us, cheap Castrol oils from e-stores have bad reputation.
  14. I wonder: those 2 different Felicia owners must use the same engine oil? It's not a kit-car, not a racing team and the owner is the co-driver. It's stock in -18 'C
  15. Do you beleive the Skoda chart that the 10W-40 is only for 15 °C ambient only? If that was true all the Skoda felicia in Mediterranean area would be blown. Very useful. Keep in mind that Castrol here in Greece has the worst name because many e-shops sell counterfeit Castrol semi-synthetic oils. When we see cheap Castrol we say it's ''monkey'', there are videos how to spot a fake one. As for the ''we buy engine oil from one compnay and we add additives and sell it with different brand name'' it's common here with Gasoline. Some companies buy from here https://www.helpe.gr/the-group/products-and-services ,then add their own additives and sell it in gas station with their own brand name. Also the 95 octane becomes 98 or 100 or Racing accordning to the ''recipe'' of each company, the basic 95 octane gasoline is the same for all of them.
  16. What's the difference between those 2 charts? Green (Owners' manual) and Grey (Workshop manual, so called the ''latest"). There is no ''update''. On the other hand, Skoda at 1998 told us about Halogen bulbs, didn't knew that some years after we could install HID and LED bulbs with much better performance in the same front light (which was designed for Halogen bulbs).
  17. The Skoda chart with green colour in the owners manual is the same with the grey colour (the 'latest" from German), does not offers the same informations like this:
  18. Transaltion from Cz to english was very difficult, i spend too much time to find ''the best of'' from the posts. Eneos 5W-40 Full Synthetic Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt. - 13.8 Kinematic Viscosity @ 40°C, cSt. - 82 Viscosity Index - 173 Eneos Premium 10W-40 Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt. - 14.7 Kinematic Viscosity @ 40°C, cSt. - 99,6 Viscosity Index - 154 Amsoil European Formula 5W-40 Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt. - 13,6 Kinematic Viscosity @ 40°C, cSt. - 83 Viscosity Index - 168 Amsoil 10W-40 Full Synthetic Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt. - 15,6 Kinematic Viscosity @ 40°C, cSt. - 101,3 Viscosity Index - 164 Valvoline SynPower 10W-40 Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt. - 13.9 Kinematic Viscosity @ 40°C, cSt. - 94 Viscosity Index - 150 Valvoline All Climate 10W-40 Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt. - 14 Kinematic Viscosity @ 40°C, cSt. - 97 Viscosity Index - 146 Castrol Edge 10W-40 Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt. - 14,6 Kinematic Viscosity @ 40°C, cSt. - 92 Viscosity Index - 159 Mobil Super™ 1000 X1 15W-40 Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt. - 14,5 Kinematic Viscosity @ 40°C, cSt. - 100 Viscosity Index - 143 Total Quarz 5000 15W-40 Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt. - 14,3 Kinematic Viscosity @ 40°C, cSt. - 110 Viscosity Index - 135 Motul Motion 4000 15W-40 Kinematic Viscosity @ 100°C, cSt. - 14,8 Kinematic Viscosity @ 40°C, cSt. - 113,2 Viscosity Index - 135 Few examples (i am on tablet now so i can't do many things), take a look at Viscosity Index, as the W viscosity rises, he drops down. I see no ''impressive'' numbers in 15W-40 at 100°C.
  19. I wonder a 5W-40 engine of 1998 era is the same with one from 2022-23? For example who knew ENEOS oils in year 1998?
  20. Many years back the repairs shops here promoted the Valvoline for Skoda. Later some of them start ''pushing'' Aral for engine oils-coolant ''because it's from Germany" (trying to tie VW Germany,Skoda-German product). I have tested 2 Motul and Amsoil Synthetic oils. Unfortunately no Morris Multivis in Greek e-stores. Skoda / VW Group Engine Oils
  21. I tried a synthetic oil 10W-40 and i saw that I didn't have good results in turning at high revs, i was nervous because i was forcing the car, i was burning more fuel, i had a bit of higher coolant temperature. Why? I don't know. Amsoil was not available in that country-town so i decided to do a temporary test on 5W-40 and so far i have only seen positive results. So where's the weird thing of saying my impressions in a Skoda forum where other members can post their opinions? Where is the problem anyway; I didn't tell you to remove the injection system and go back to the carburetor. Bee Gees: Stayin' Alive.
  22. Some thoughts (translated) from a Cz Skoda Felicia forum. https://forum.skodahome.cz/topic/54506-motorový-olej/#comments
  23. https://www.duckhams.com/uk/find-my-oil/?country=GBR&typeid=a8187c2b31540d9bae842be3b07a74cc For Felicia 1.3 latest model suggests only one type of oil, the 5W-40 Duckhams QS 5W-40 MRV and oil change every 15.000Km / 12 months https://www.duckhams.com/uk/duckhams-qs-5w-40-mrv/ I think they do it in purpose to make @Thefeliciahacker nervous. 15W-40 or 15W-50 Synthetic or Semi-Synthetic?
  24. Haynes (for Felicia) was promoting Duckhams oils.
