  1. Thank you everyone again so far for all your helpful and accurate comments. I have already purchased the pump so I may as well have it fitted ( at least it will rule another thing out ) I appreciate what is being said about testing the pump although the garage told me I had to go to a dealer as they didn't have the equipment for me specfic car as mentioned above. Although if the pump doesn't work then I think I will be off to the dealers for some professional diagnostics/answers.
  2. I shall keep this updated as anyone else with similar problems should be able to get an answer. I would just like to reiterate that my car isn't suffering from the cold but it suffers from time stood. It could be 20c outside but if my car hasnt been started for more than 6-8 hours then it will struggle to start. If your fault is only in cold weather then I would be looking more towards glow plugs or glow plug relay mate. I just don't want you forking out the wrong money for the incorrect fault.
  3. Right I've purchased a new tandem pump off ECP for £200. My garage are fitting it next Saturday. The dealer wanted £70 to just test the original pump as its their ' hourly rate ' so I chinned that off. http://www.eurocarparts.com/mobile/ecp/c/Skoda_Octavia_2.0_2007/p/car-parts/engine-parts/fuel-and-engine-management/fuel-pump/?441441190&1&5d0045a2d0b0fe04d8bb41e3d5ba68f17a68eaba&000148 I should now have a easy cranking car after next Saturday
  4. I'm very persistent and I have now accepted this as my mission to get to the bottom of this. I will not give up nor accept defeat. Have faith
  5. Quick update. My car has come back from the garage. They cannot find a definite answer for me after extensive fault finding. They think the ' high pressure fuel pump ' is to blame however they cannot guarantee this fully. They have suggested to me to go to a main dealer and get them to test the pump to see if this is at fault. If so then my garage are more than happy to fit the part for me but they don't have the equipment to test the part. So yes that's as far as I've got so far
  6. 2007 Octy VRS - Has anyone had any experience of cruise control fitting? Is it worth it? What sort of price should I expect to pay and are they any decent places that do it in Lincoln? Cheers guys
  7. A stab in the dark - Remove the air intake pipe so you can gain access to the turbo and just have a look at the turbo. You should find something. Failing that, get on a turbo website that deal with new or recon turbos and email them your car details + reg and I'm sure they will have the code for you.
  8. Did you purchase it in the end? Is it all fitted and fixed now if so?
  9. No! Lol. If anything it will make them cleaner as your car is getting more air in. The Cat in the exhaust is the only major emissions part you should worry about.
  10. Extremely easy to change - i think it's even on par with battery changing or maybe even screen wash top ups nearly lol. Noticed a difference? That's an understatement, it felt like it had been remapped again even over the stage 1 I have. The acceleration and low down power was amazing. Couldnt believe a part like that could make such a big difference.
  11. I carry out my own servicing as far as air filters are concerned any way. The air box has 10 torx/Allen key screws holding it together. Undo these and pull the top half of the plastic air box off and voila your air filter is then exposed. The air filter is the big black rectangle thing located to the right of the engine if your looking at it. Connected to the MAF sensor. I'm surprised you only saw 2 screws as all the screws are evenly spaced apart and mirror one another. Anything further info just ask
  12. I don't know about you but my dip stick level barely changed, because the oil gets ejected out under pressure it looks worse than what it is. So in reality your probably/hopefully only loosing literally a few drops.
  13. Same story as me, Coilovers Dpf delete Stage 1 map Grooved and dimpled discs all round Then bam oil leak. I left mine leaking for a good 4 months. It doesn't cause any negative effects as far as I'm aware other than the oil. So there's no rush. Also I managed to clean the oil from the engine bay in about 5 mins fairly easy!
  14. Good luck^ Don't know enough either way to comment.
  15. Hey Trev mate!!! Your guide you sent via email really helped me and I referred to it when changing my manifold. I honestly couldn't tell you about the clip, probably plastic though coming from an 07 car. However if the problem happens again I will buy brand new and stick it on credit card. The thing is I'm toying with buying a petrol mk3 vRS in the near future so don't wanna spend loads on this current one.
  16. Nothing you can look for other than making sure the car it's come off hasn't gone signs of oil everywhere. Pot luck. I bought second hand £200 and so far it's been golden But it was off a Leon 07 plate which had done 100,000 miles. So it could re occur at any time. Just have to hope. Although trying to find second hand ones are rather difficult :/ It's a mega pain but it feels great when you've done it and no more leaks. With you being down the road feel free to pop down to me if you need a hand changing it. I'm sure a garage would charge about £100 ( 2hrs labor £40p/h + vat ) so it's pointless when it's a very simple job.
  17. Yes it was letting oil leak out. It is a very common fault and the newer manifolds are now made of metal instead of plastic. The only fix is to buy a new one (£500) or play the lotto and buy second hand. Part no. 03G129711AS There is a good seller on eBay that sells these ( GermanAutoSpares ) or something similar. It's a DIY job for replacement if your have basic mechanic skills. Remove EGR then undo 10 bolts. Old manifold off and new one then 10 bolts back on and EGR refitted. Done. Anything else feel free to ask
  18. I'm in the Army and I work away in Oxford but live in Lincoln. There is 160 miles between the two. I work Mon-Fri and need my car to commute, my car was meant to be going in with the garage tomorrow and I was going to leave it with them till Fri and I was going to get a courtesy car for the week. They have rang just and said the courtesy car isn't available yet, so I've got at least another week to wait till the car goes in :/
  19. My car is going in with the garage hopefully tomorrow and if it does they are having it till the problem is fixed. They have asked to have it for 3-4 days. I really should get a final answer for everyone on here. Thank you Chr15D for your comment, in my case waiting for the heater to click of is not my problem as I could start my car in 15c in the middle of the day and it would still struggle. My problem isn't temp related but is time related. As for taking so long to crank the engine the oil light comes on - that happens to me every day I start the car. I WILL keep this thread updated with everything as soon as anything else comes to light!
  20. Can't comment for the above two however if you want SME who are top of their game. Trouble free motoring Excellent after sales customer service (if needed ) Unleash the safest potential from your engine Smooth, safe reliable map Then it is a must you go down the Shark Performance Route.
  21. Injectors maybe need replacing? Or it could be a sensor... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/339123-cold-starting-issues-running-out-of-ideas/
  22. I bought the grill off a friend on here 'SNH' but it's literally just been painted in high gloss paint. Carbon wrapping is the way forward though. Also the window surrounds are called wind deflectors and the best make to go for are Heko - have a search on eBay!
  23. Same/similar problem. Could be Coolant temp sensor Fuel delivery/pressures low Engine compression low Glow plugs not working correctly Leak in fuel system Water in fuel filter Priming lift pump when drivers door is open not working Tandem pump broken In tank electric lift pump Temp sensor two separate elements Camshaft sensor Crankshaft sensor http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/339123-cold-starting-issues-running-out-of-ideas/
  24. Stage 1 map Dpf delete EGR deletE 30,00 miles later and my vRS is still a absolute machine! More MPG than I know what to do with and enough power to pin me to my seat and beat 9/10 cars on the road. No regrets...apart from not doing it sooner!!!
