  1. Oh, it's totally pointless. But I'll end up trying it out some day, I'm sure... just for fits and giggles, and I reckon if properly warmed up it could beat the quoted 6.5 seconds to hit 60. To be fair though, with the adaptive dampers set in sport mode, it corners and handles pretty well for such a large car. It's never going to be anything like a hot hatch or a sports car, but then you can't fit 7 + the dog in either of those. But we've done this to death many times, so let's not go there again. The one thing I will say is that the gearbox is the weak link in the VRS. It's just so sluggish and nothing like what a DSG box can be like (I remember the first generation in an Audi TT - gear changes were instant and when you needed them) - from what I gather, it's nothing mechanical, but the software/firmware they load onto the box. I have noticed you can get the DSG box 're-flashed', so maybe there is a simple cure for it. But as it stands, that's the one thing that is holding the VRS back from being utterly brilliant and actually being able to make use of the undoubted poke it has under the bonnet. (side note: watching old Top Gear episodes and it's funny hearing them describe cars that do 0-60 in 6.5 seconds as 'proper fast'... how times and expectations have changed)
  2. In an actual lay-by or a parking space on the carriageway? If the former, then that's just wrong. If the latter, then don't get so close before pulling out to go round it 😎.
  3. You think correct - I turned them off too.
  4. Don't know about motion sickness, but the light blue seats you used to get in Mercs always made me feel a bit 🀒.
  5. Other than posting questions on forums, you mean? πŸ˜‰ Couple of questions... wouldn't reading the manual be quicker than waiting for someone to read it for you and post the relevant bit? Also, have you ever wondered if there are things your cars have been able to do that you nothing about, simply because you refuse to read the manuals?
  6. Oh, I'm pretty sure I know why they're not all that common. Same reason why all 'halo' cars sitting at the top of a range aren't the best sellers. Yes, it's got a pointlessly powerful/thirsty engine in it. Yes, it's stupidly expensive for a Kodiaq. No, it's not as quick as a Lamborghini Urus. No, it's not as big as a Range Rover. But I'm guessing that those people, myself included, who bought one did so because... well, go figure.
  7. Go on, I'll bite... why?
  8. Yes. Doesn't matter when you order, only matters when the car is built.
  9. I don't think we've ever had the option of acoustic glass on Skodas in the UK... or VWs. It's an Audi thing over here.
  10. The back end is the same across Seat, Skoda and VW, and the infotainment units etc. are all the same too - the UI is just skinned differently in each. So, unfortunately, the same problems exist across all of them too. My solution is to not let the wife drive my car and only use the one key 😎.
  11. That is where skiing usually takes place, yes. But do I really need to add a 'warning: this post contains a joke' label for you to get that I wasn't being serious? I thought that laughing emoji might just do the trick, but my bad.
  12. I reckon the garage is just stumped by anyone needing snow chains in Australia! 🀣 Or are they actually for driving on the beach?
  13. I drove my 1.4TSi Kodiaq in ECO most of the time, and regularly saw the ACT kick in (and 'eco' on the dashboard). You just need to be light-footed on the gas peddle. I also got 45-50mpg out of it on long runs. And ECO changes up gears early, but I'm sure that was just a typo πŸ˜‰.
  14. I'm not talking about retrofitting a tow bar. I'm on about getting a factory fitted one - currently Β£960. Tow bar prep is Β£205 - so either you've forgotten to add that in or your aftermarket tow bar is exceptionally cheap. By the time you've added in labour, it's going to cost about the same as the factory fit tow bar - I searched around for my last Kodiaq and every quote I had was about Β£900-Β£1000 (including electrics). So with costs being roughly equal, I go back to my point that it's just far easier and simpler to get it factory fitted. That's a slightly different case... I was specifically referring to people who order a factory build car and then try to add a tow bar to it afterwards. Really not worth it... ...and may even not be legal to use for anything other than a bike rack (which is all I use mine for, to be fair).
  15. No idea if it is still the case, but it used to be that you could display the maps on both at the same time if they were on a HDD/SSD (Columbus). If your maps were on an SD card (Amundsen), then no.
  16. I don't get why people don't just get the factory fit tow bar... in my experience it's no more expensive than quotes I've had for aftermarket ones, and, well, it saves all the hassle.
  17. There's a definite theme to most, if not all, of the problem orders...
  18. Not entirely sure what you expected the dealer to do if they're not getting any information out of Skoda UK and/or the Skoda factory. It's not like they determine when (or even if) an order gets built. Anyway, enjoy the new motor...
  19. Judging by the number of new Kodiaqs that have suddenly appeared around these parts lately, something has evidently happened...
  20. Very nice... but I have to ask - what's the purpose of the window dooberies? IMO, they look awful, and does anyone drive around with their windows open a small bit anymore, especially in cars with a/c? Love the monochromeyness of it though - looks stunning!
  21. Sorry, just realised that sounded a bit rude… thanks for the suggestion, even if it wasn’t particularly helpful πŸ‘πŸ˜‚.
  22. Not really - I knew about that, but there's nowhere that lists the most recent versions, so nothing to compare with the versions I have.
