  1. You'll find an issues with this as they're a one piece system. They have to be cut off around the rear beam to get them off, unless the beam is removed. There are marks on the system to which can be used for cutting up the exhaust in to parts. This way, you can use joiners/sleeves to put the system back together. I would personally look at an after market system. If you want a system that is similar, something like Miltek might be a good a choice.
  2. Because they're all being broken! Even this year I've seen 20+ being stripped down for spares and usually not a lot sells.
  3. Surprisingly, I added even more! I thought the extra steps would help! 🤣
  4. Ah yes, the age-old ritual of entering a car forum, full of hope, typing in "weird rattling noise when reversing uphill on Tuesdays," and being rewarded with 200,000 results, including one about a kettle in Lithuania. Classic. You're not alone, Chippers. Search functions are a bit like that one relative who means well but gets confused and brings a fire extinguisher to a birthday party. The trick is using quotes for exact phrases otherwise, the search engine breaks your sentence into individual words and invites every possible result containing any of them. It's like asking a dog to find your slippers and coming back with everything you've ever owned. So instead of: Try: And if the forum lets you, use filters to limit results to specific sections like "MK1 Octavia" though let’s be honest, sometimes the search engine ignores that like your car ignores the check engine light. So with that in mind, let's explore a little more on how to use the search function... How to Actually Use Search (Without Losing Your Sanity):Use Quotation Marks for Phrases Type: Use the "Advanced Search" Options (click the gear icon near the search bar) Don’t just smash the Enter key. Click that little settings icon or "Advanced Search" link: "Find results in..." → Choose Topics or Posts "Search in forum..." → Select MK1 Octavia to avoid results from Fabia, Roomster, or the Bermuda Triangle. "Content titles only" → Tick this box to only search thread titles (not every post). Very handy for common issues. Use the “+” Sign for Must-Include Words Type: Use Filters After Searching After the search runs, refine your results on the left-hand side (if visible). Sort by date, relevance, or even by forum section. Still Lost? Use Google... but point it at Briskoda (This is especially helpful, and my go to... I'd much rather use this type of search, and best of all it can be used for any site). Sometimes it’s easier to search Briskoda from Google. Type: And yes, "tabs," "topics," and "threads" sound like something from a 2003 tech startup brainstorming session. All we want is a big shiny button that says “Find my damn issue.” You're doing great! Mechanic or not, you're navigating a maze designed by caffeine fueled web developers with a grudge against clarity. I hope this helps! As we were all there once!
  5. In standard power, it has a fair bit of grunt. If it was mapped to even 170. The torque difference is very noticeable and I would wheel spin in first and second easily with a completely standard tired setup. 60 is reached very quickly.
  6. Couple people on FB break VRS’s, so it might be worth contacting them. In the MK1 group, see Gav Gikes. Or, search scrap yards and remove them yourself.
  7. If I had the room, I would've saved this. I had an admiral blue one which I chucked nearly 100k on. Bought it for £700, with 136k on it. Used it as a work horse. Redone all the door looms, with motors and locks, ripped out interior and wetvac and put it back together. Milltek Exhaust system, vRS alloys. Best of luck with the sale! P.S. If you ever want to sell some stuff separately from the car if it goes to scrap, let me know, as I'll have a few parts off it, I'm not to far away for collection too.
  8. Golf handles should fit, but it's best to double check if you can. And, unsure on the audi.
  9. I can't imagine it leaving the factory without a bulb or soldered led. Does it look like its been messed around with?
  10. Good to hear you've sorted it, any pictures?
  11. Good practice is to replace the thermo and cts at the same time with genuine parts. You'll then want to fully bleed the system, ensuring there is no air in it. I can go straight out on to a 60mph road and the system is up to temp within 5 minutes. Other than the above, I can only think of it as being a wiring issues. If you can get the garage to do a scan and check the measuring block, you can go from there and try and hunt down the issue.
  12. Depending on how much you love the car, haha, you could pretty much replace all the baby stick with the standard grey cloth. Anyone breaking an Octavia could sort you out.
  13. I doubt you’ll find the horrid baby sick colour these days as it doesn’t appear to be a very popular choice. You can however get the black/grey ones from Skoda-Parts. This will have to be imported and you should be fine as long as it’s under £130 I believe. https://www.skoda-parts.com/catalog/octavia/spare-parts/body/doors-and-door-parts/front-doors/door-seal-355.html
  14. That’s it, at his own admission he is terrible at getting back to people including me. 😂
  15. Kieran, if you are on any of the FB groups, seek out a guy called Gav. He breaks them all the time, and I’m sure he’ll have a couple on his shelf.
  16. Welcome and nice to see a Favorit!
  17. @Funkyfin2001 and updates, were you able to find the issue?
  18. What don't you set up a project thread? We can then keep track of your progress! https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/207-octavia-projects/
  19. It's not as simple to just swap them, it'll need to be read using a eeprom program to get the code and reflash it on a new cluster. It's possible that the ECU has been modified and had the eml coded out.
  20. Any from a MK1 will fit, if you want the dark ones. You'll need a very late 2003 or any 2004/2005 vRS. Or, a L&K with the grey lining.
  21. You'll have a K03s turbo, found on many variants of the 1.8T. You shouldn't have issues finding a replacement. However, I would be more concerned about the health of the engine if any of it got starved of oil.
  22. Hello and welcome to the community!
  23. While everyone’s entitled to their opinion, I think the way one has chosen to express it is unnecessarily derogatory. It’s one thing to prefer another website, totally fair, we all have our preferences. However, t’s another thing entirely to come into this community and trash the site in such a dismissive way. If the roles were reversed, I’m sure VerticalScope the owner of the site you prefer would be thrilled to know one of their members was out publicly belittling other communities online. That kind of behavior reflects more on the individual than on any platform they’re talking about. There’s always room for improvement in any community, and thoughtful, constructive criticism is always welcome. But this kind of negativity doesn’t build anything, it just tears down. If you’ve got suggestions, let’s hear them. If not, maybe consider the kind of energy you’re bringing into the space. We’re all here to make things better, not bitter. Enjoy your site, and don’t let the door hit you backside on the way out…
