  1. Don't know if it's viable for you but you can concatenate multiple mp3's into a single file very easily using the dos copy command or if you have "Audacity" that will do it as well.

    rear wiper

I keep my light and wiper switches set for automatic operation and, on no better authority than my memory, I think my rear wiper is only activated when it's raining AND I select reverse gear. I'll be interested to see what the experts say, the 1 in 22 sweeps sounds feasible but it's not something I've ever noticed.

    Yeti

I've been lucky I think. The only clutch I've ever had to replace was late 60's early 70's in a Mini when I fitted a factory recondioned engine and then it was a case of 'while it's out and accessible'.
  4. In the absence of a response from freedie, I assume it was an assessment of the preceding post i.e. mine. I'm not sure what part of it was assessed as rubbish. The fact is that I have owned 2 Yetis. The first had 16" wheels and the second, which I've still got, has 17" wheels. The ride in my current car is noticeably harsher and less comfortable than it was in the first. That's my experience and one in consequence of which I say again that I would, given the chance go for 16" wheels.
  5. I'm with your friend there 100% in fact if I used mine more often I'd look to swap mine out for 16".
  6. Not just where but how you use your car. I changed from diesel to petrol purely because my useage patterns would be the death of a diesel.
  7. 👍 The post prompted me to to do what's been in my mind for a long time now.
  8. The charger got to float voltage overnight so, using the boot socket appears to present no problems at all.
  9. Early findings:- 1. Both the cabin and boot cigarette lighter sockets are live and the charger works normally in each one. 2. As suggested the boot seal has got enough 'give' in it to allow the boot to be closed over the low tension charger lead, as in photo. I wouldn't risk the mains lead. I made sure the lead was in the corner away from the latch and I will also make sure that it's not the same part of the lead that takes the wear every time. 3. My driver window has been down for about 16 hours now. I have not checked my maxidot settings but I haven't changed whatever the default was as far as I can recall. 4. I'm not sure whether you lose any special diagnostic or remedial functionality in the charger by using it like this rather than connecting to the battery.
  10. Ahh.. thanks for the 'heads up'. Just for interest, before I make the change I'll try leaving the window open tonight and see what happens. p.s. The charger's due at the weekend so I'll update in due course. As an afterthought, does the boot light go off after a set period? It would be just as easy for me to use the boot socket but I thought the window left open was perhaps a better option than leaving the boot open. @Brightone - sorry for the hijack 🙂
  11. My car only comes out of the garage once or twice a week and then usually to nip to the shops and back. I just ordered the Ctek MXS 5 and a cig lighter connector adapter so I hope it works 🤞 🙂 p.s. although I intend leaving the drivers window open and using the socket between the seats.
  12. Errr no - it's the blue badge storage compartment 😀
  13. I get this pulling away from being parked on a hill, presumably just as the 'hill hold' lets go. I'm not worried about it. p.s. - mine's DSG.
  14. I had a long string of Citroens, Visa, AX, GS Pallas, BX, ZX, Xantia and I had issues with every single one of them but for some reason that I don't understand now I kept going back for more punishment. It was the dealership that finally broke me of the habit when I PX'd the 15 month old Xantia and they offered the lowest price of every dealer I visited. I went back with the figures and they said sorry but they were overstocked and couldn't budge. I saw red and walked out after saying I was now an ex-customer and have never been through the door again. I ended up buying a Toyota Corolla which I finally gave to my grandson after I'd run it more or less trouble free for nearly 16 years.
  15. That's the point I was making about WAZE as compared to my last inbuilt satnav. It starts out 'knowing' the current conditions and chooses the best route for those conditions. It updates itself continuously as you're driving along even warning of hazards/accidents that have only just happened and makes changes to suit automatically. With my first YETI which did have satnav I used to find myself apparently driving through a field or I'd come to a junction, roundabout or whatever which wasn't shown at all. That was just a few months after I had taken delivery of it from new. The maps were the most recent at the time so I was told 😕.
  16. I don't have satnav in my current Yeti and so on the rare occasion I need help, I use WAZE on my iPhone. Last time I used it was to pick up my cousin from Manchester airport just at the end of the morning rush hour. It took me on a route I would never have thought of but the arrival time was spot on to within a couple of minutes. The continuous reaction to changing traffic conditions works well.
  17. Surely the Yeti is sufficiently 'intelligent' not to force the engine to rev so much that damage might be caused, isn't it? Personally I like the way that mine handles going downhill on overrun. Some of the hills round here would be downright dangerous to be coasting down.
  18. So have you had a lot of problems or are you like me, worrying that you might have the problems that other people have had? That was the only reason I swapped my previous Yeti for the current one (diesel to petrol).

  20. One of the great imponderables of the modern age
  21. Yes I agree it's low compared to what others get. Perhaps it's down to the fact that I'm carting a spare wheel around all the time and a full tank of petrol most of the time (I panic if it gets to half full even though I rarely go more than 10 miles in a trip ). I always fill up (to the brim) with Tesco Momentum. Perhaps it goes off between refills, sometimes 2 months apart . My proviso is that there are 4.54609 litres in a gallon and my odometer is accurate .
  22. That's pretty much what I get from my 1.2TSI DSG - Average over the 2 years since I got it (new) is 34.50 mpg with a high of 38.95 mpg although it's hardly 'run in' yet at 6,300 miles .
  23. Got one from the dealer as a sweetener each time I bought a car (1 Fabia, 1 Citigo and 2 Yetis). I also got a set of mats with my first Yeti which were transferred to the current one. I retained 1 small collapsible and one golfing type umberella both Skoda branded. I agree with what Expatman says re spare wheel, it's personal choice and personally I just feel uncomfortable without one. In my younger days, I have stopped and changed a wheel for people on a couple of occasions.
  24. Salesman swapped mine over for me plus the mats and two skoda umberellas as well.
  25. There's a YT video of a test in a 1.4 TSI DSG Monte Carlo albeit in Germany - I had the mistaken belief for a long time that 4x4 Yetis had only ever been produced as diesel variants and that was what I was alluding to .
