  1. mine initially were like this, and i found that the washer nozzles were not installed correctly.
  2. in my Vrs i have found that it on average does an active regen per each tank full (850km + on average for each tank). using an OBD scanner and the torque app on my phone the exhaust temperature normally sits around 350degC when driving and around 200 when idling. during an active regen at 110km/hr temp raises to 650ish, dropping the car back a gear or two raises the temp to 700 with no noticable change in fuel consumption (based on instantaneous consumption reading) and at this temp the regen lasts for a shorter period. from my experience if i regularly take a drive on the highway with the revs above 2k regenerations seem to occur less frequently.
  3. not such a simple thing for us down in oz, with my VIN it comes up with subscription expired with a date prior to the car being loaded on the ship for transport. on contacting Skoda Australia i got the reply "I know the online updates for our market are in the pipeline, unsure as to whether they have officially been released as yet I will find out and come back to you" looks like they are taking their time in doing this as these vehicles have been available for sale in our country for some time now
  4. Has anyone tried to see if the OBD eleven can unlock the engineering menu ?
  5. i have installed a Travall one in my car, no drilling required, can easily be removed in under 5 mins
  6. I recently had a recall on my VRS TDI where they changed the tyre pressure data on the fuel flap. basically they have downgraded the tyre pressures to 31 psi for 1-2 passengers
  7. from my experience, transmission in D and just planting the loud pedal from a standing start produces a lot of wheelspin and transmission thumping (axle tramp?) transmission in S and planting foot less thumping and some wheel spin transmission in S traction control off and foot down just past the point where the car limits the engine revs (approx 2.5k rpm) (ie foot approx half way to floor), car takes off very quickly with no thumping or wheelspin.
  8. I have these but the passenger side is covered by the unit installed under the seat (canton amp I think it is)
  9. My long term average is 5.9l/100 km (46.3mpg) calculated by keeping records of amount of fuel and odometer reading (for interest this equates to a cost of 7.2cents per km). One thing I have noticed is the diesel takes around 10km to be fully warmed up (going by the oil temperature) so in this distance in have noticed that the fuel consumption reading is slightly higher. For my driving style the Eco mode didn't give any extra range so I just leave it in normal mode.
  10. I had all kinds of issues with the crdt box on setting 1 (even 1+1) changed to setting 2+2 car runs better no hesitation or cutting out
  11. When looking for a car my main criteria was to be able to carry my son's BMX without having to lower seats, and I didn't want an SUV. Most of my driving is at highway speeds so a diesel made sense to me. After factoring in many things like what dealers / service centers were near by I was left with a choice of; Octavia TDI wagon (estate) Mazda 6 Diesel Wagon Ford Mondeo Diesel wagon At the time the Mondeo seemed dated, and the Mazda Customer care center did everything they could to talk me out of the Mazda, so that left me with the Octavia. Glad I got the VRS over the Elegance. Test drove the elegance first then the dealer asked if i wanted a drive of the VRS they had just had delivered (how could I refuse). Both my wife and I loved the car so ordered one with the lot. I think it is such a great car to drive, plenty of power (especially with a DTUK box fitted) and great economy.
  12. one of my colleagues here mentioned that it may be something to force driver to have to pull over when using the phone, as we can get fined for using the phone whilst driving. then again it could be a software issue due to everything here in OZ being altered.
  13. what have you used to clean the paintwork? maybe a clay bar or similar deep paint cleaner would work (something like http://www.meguiars.com.au/surface-prep/deep-crystal-paint-cleaner/)
  14. The powers that be here are very conservative, speed limits vary by State, typically they are 110km/hr and some state have 100km/hr
  15. I noticed the same thing with the my16 vrs loan car I had whilst mine was being fixed, I thought it was linked to the fact I could get the android auto / smart link to work with my phone either. I mentioned it to the dealer and he said his iPhone didn't work properly with that car either The buttons all work perfectly with my my15.5 vrs,
  16. I have hooked up a Bluetooth obd adaptor and using the torque app on my phone I have watched the exhaust gast temp (egt) Normal driving the egt sits around 250-300C (at constant speed, goes higher on acceleration) at idle it drops to just under 200C. When doing a DPF clean @110kph the temp goes to 680C for around 15 min and I see the instantaneous fuel consumption increase by about 1.5l/100km, and I can hear a slight change in engine note when it does this. At worst it does one regen per tank ( I get approx 850+ km per tank). But normally I would have it happen every second or even third tankfull. Do the car a favour and take it for a run down the motorway on a regular basis, not just for the DPF, can give the battery a boost and may help prevent carbon build ups in the engine.
  17. yes very little stop start driving, mostly traveling to and from work which is around 80km round trip at motorway speeds and little congestion, i struggle to do that in my VRS diesel
  18. My wife in her fabia managed to get 945km from a single tank, this is from the standard fillup, no venting of the expansion system
  19. If you have the DSG, try using the launch control, much quicker to get going and not much wheel spin.
  20. I have one fitted to mine, works well. I am still playing around with the different maps, map 1 gives great low down torque but is so easy to spin the wheels. Haven't really noticed much change in economy (based on brim to brim refills) I am happy with it Mine has the DSG, as do all Australian spec vrs tdi's do I just posted then realised you were asking about the pedal box
  21. I had the boost pressure sensor on mine fail too, running the car with the box installed, done over 3,000km since it was replaced with the box installed, i found with map 1 under light throttle at around 1800 rpm and the car changing gear there was a hesitation/flatspot, changed to map 2 and seems to be ok.
  22. The DSG seems to be holding up ok, if it goes bang I'll unplug the box and get it fixed under warranty. Had to take the car in because the boost pressure sensor had failed, no trace of the dtuk was detected when they connected the diagnostic computer up.
  23. i have a VRS TDI, using the lap timer in the maxidot adding a DTUK box to 0-100 time is 6.7 sec. traction is an issue, i have the DSG so in normal Drive mode the car gets a lot of axle tramp and it sounds like something will break, putting into Sport mode with traction control off, gives a better take off with less axle tramp, but using the launch control take off is smooth, and fast.
  24. i have a Mk3 Octavia and was given a superb as a loan car and there is much more leg room in the back the boot looks bigger but when i put my son's bmx bike in it, it fitted the same as in the octavia, The bike fits in the boot diagonally with maybe 1 inch more space on the diagonal in the superb vs the octavia, So i would say there is a marginal increase in width between the two but the wheel base is definitely longer than the octavia.
