  1. Stationary tick over without anything on is 0.5 - 0.6 l/hr (engine fully warmed up and battery fully charged) @90kph consumption sits between 4.3 - 4.6 l/100 @110kph consumption sits between 4.6 - 5.0 l/100 When the DPF regen occurs the consumption goes to around 6 l/100 and I can hear a change in the engine note On mine the readout stops at 300mpg ( I normally run in l/100km but thought i would as a comparison to all the UK posts using MPG) All the above was with the AC off, no lights or other accessories on, windows closed and tyres at 38psi. All Aussie spec'd VRS TDI come with the DSG (no manual option)
  2. on my way to work today i switched the consumption from l/100km to mpg and attached photos are a couple of the readings at different speeds, these were on flat roads and no wind. my average is around the 48mpg when factored in all the stop start driving and traffic holdups on my way home each night. I don't try to hyper mile or drive like "driving miss Daisy" just normal driving with the stop start function turned off, AC on when needed. and yes this is a VRS TDI Wagon (Estate) MY 15.5 WITH 10K(ish) km. for me to get an average in the 30's i would have to be doing the traffic light grand prix all of the time.
  3. I have the shark fin and the rear quarter window aerials.
  4. does anyone know if DAB is a hardware thing with the Columbus (MIB1) unit or is it software. if its hardware is it an extra module or replacement of the glovebox unit? would be nice to know if i can add dab(+) to my car or do i have to replace the whole unit as that is not an option on the VRS here in OZ, whereas my wife got a my15 fabia and it has DAB on it
  5. I was reading through the training manual for the ea288 engine and the charge air system uses a coolant system with a separate radiator mounted (stacked) ender the engine radiator
  6. I have had one of these fitted to my vrs and had to have the car repaired under warranty ( engine cutting out,) removed the box and loom in under 5 min and the service centre connected their diagnostic unit up and it found no trace of having had the box fitted.
  7. no problems, just thought it may be of use, as we have a similar thing here with the traffic notifications not being available and it is just a matter of adding the license code to enable.
  8. I have a vrs diesel which is in the shop getting repaired (turbo boost pressure sensor issue) in the mean time they have lent me a vrs petrol so I can compare the two. Both are same spec and have the DSG so only difference is the engine. With the diesel you have loads of low down torque which means effortless driving, but it is so easy to spin the wheels so tyre wear could be higher with the diesel. There is the typical diesel rattle but it's not excessive, many people have commented how quiet it is. The petrol has plenty of get up and go once the revs build up, uses about 1.5l/100km more fuel at 110km/hr. The artificial sound maker to me makes it sound more like the diesel. Coming out of a corner if you are in too high a gear the diesel seems quicker to pull out of the corner vs petrol, in manual mode you probably would have the right gear selected. Over here petrol prices vary wildly (upto 15-20c increase per L over night is not uncommon), diesel is very constant in price. The factor in the need for 98RON fuel, if you are doing high km the diesel is by far cheaper to run. I have had no issues with the DPF, I can hear a change in the engine when it's doing a burn and the fuel consumption increases, but I do a high percentage of highway travelling. So it really comes down to driving style, if you are only doing a lot of short trips then petrol is best. I guess we are lucky over here as there no extra taxes dependant upon emissions or fuel.
  9. Not sure if this would be of any help but whilst my car is in the shop I have a MY16 VRS with smartlink enabled as a loan car, I can take a VCDS scan if it could be of use, note this is an Australian Spec car if that makes any difference
  10. I recently ordered the CRD-T+ and got an extra 30 off of the price by being a Briskodian (50 for normal online discount and 80 for BRISKODA member) cant remember the exact code i think it was BRI80. and delivery was excellent only took 5 days to get to me in Australia
  11. filled up friday morning and after driving i got this
  12. i was looking at the air intake on my VRs and I have noticed that the way it is designed hot air could be drawn in from the engine bay.maybe there is a part missing? anyway looking at the intake going from the filter box the air comes from a plastic plenum across the top of the radiator with two openings (front and rear) at the opposite end to the filter box. the rear most opening looks larger than the front. can someone else have a look at theirs and let me know how it is set up,
  13. About 20 years ago I used it on an older car and it made a huge difference, but some time in th 90's they changed the formula (patent issue or something) and the stuff wasn't the same. So I wouldn't bother with it now.
  14. I recently took delivery of a race blue vrs with black pac and panoramic roof. Everyone comments how great the colour is. I chose the blue because there are so many white, silver , grey ones on the road here, black show up every bit of dirt but looks fantastic when spotless, in Australia we don't get the option of green or yellow. As for blue being a younger persons colour I don't think so (I'm 45) Mind you when I test drove the cars the White with black pack looked classy (but I was under strict orders "no more white cars").
  15. Cruise half way around the world prior to delivery. It's a good thing it has unlimited km warranty as it has already travelled 20,000 km prior to delivery
  16. just for info I ordered My VRS Feb 17, collected last saturday (25 July). 17Feb Ordered 17 April Built 20 May loaded onto ship 27 June of loaded from ship 21 July delivered to dealer 25 July Collected by me
  17. a rough calculation results in about 3km/hr error at 100km/hr, that is if your speedo is correct with original tyres, the 45 series ones will have the car doing 103km/hr at indicated 100km/hr. (good to see a fellow Aussie on here)
  18. No Joy from the 2wglobal site either, the dealer looked it up using nadcon and it’s saying ‘on vessel’ status.
  19. I was informed on Friday that mine is on a ship on its way here maybe yours is on it too
  20. I got the pano roof also. I am wondering if it was a ghost order that they re configured to my spec
  21. I'm in Adelaide, so probably the car will go to Melbourne then via road to here, I was told that it will be a June Delivery
  22. I have ordered a similar car except race blue and diesel, ordered 17 February built 17 April now waiting to get shipped to Australia.
