  1. This is the best I can do, sorry, but it gives the seller details, their ref number, and the price..But please check with them though that the ref is still current for the Stabilus ones. Tbh, I just googled Stabilus tailgate struts for Octavia Mk3, and these were the cheapest I could find.
  2. Sorry for the delay in replying, I’ll try to find a link. as far as what they look like, they’re indistinguishable from the originals.
  3. Tbh, not noticed any problem - I’ve not hit anything yet! 🤫
  4. Ok. I misunderstood. Hope someone else comes along to help you before long. As to the quality of the picture, mine’s fine, comparable imo with that on Mrs B’s Nissan with its original equipment camera.
  5. Correction, the member was Weyland, not Wayland, sorry. It’s aftermarket, but comes with the correct boot handle replacement. No coding required, it was plug and play. I took about 3 hours to install. Here’s a pic of the first post in the thread, to help you search.
  6. Member ‘Wayland’ did a brilliant how-to on here about installing a reverse camera, giving all details. Cable routing was via the headlining, it might be better to route it downwards, though, to avoid any airbag action.
  7. Thanks. It’s the full grille, the chrome surround is the only bit thanks not peeling!
  8. Almost decided to replace the grille, as it’s peeling badly now. But looking on YT for a guide, it seems the front bumper has to be removed, or at least ‘eased out’. Anyone done this, and is it a job for arthritic hands, please? I think i’d want to remove the grille to strip the lacquer off even if i didnt buy a new one.
  9. Thanks agaiN CianKT. The Stabilus struts you recommended arrived today, fitted no problems, took about 10 minutes. Hatch now opens really easily. 👏👏
  10. Thanks all, I’ve ordered a pair of Stalibus struts.🙂
  11. Thanks CianKT, I’ll follow that trail. I’d not come across the Stabilus brand.
  12. Quoting my first post above, “getting ref numbers etc from this forum”. A few years ago, there was a ‘how-to’ thread showing how to replace the manual bonnet prop with gas struts, and which gave links to the AliExpress part numbers, and fittings etc. There are many very helpful members on here, hence me asking if anyone had this info.
  13. Anyone have a link for aftermarket struts for the Mk3 hatchback boot lid, please? I bought a pair from AliExpress for the bonnet mod, getting ref numbers etc from this forum. The boot lid on my car is getting heavy to lift, so I’d like to replace the struts. Thanks
  14. And my 18 reg SE L sailed through, with no advisories. Next week it’s the turn of Mrs B’s Nissan, and then the 3-wheeler in early March. Here’s hoping for similar results for these…
  15. I agree, it does depend on many factors, not least miles covered: I was just referring to earlier comments. I seem to recall, from another thread on here, or another forum I frequent, the suggestion was that they could well be made in the same factory anyway… 🤔
  16. Have to ask, if the Bosch and VAG ones only last a year, why not buy non-branded EBay ones which last just as long?
  17. Is the ‘distance’ on the ACC set too close?
  18. I put in an AliExpress reversing camera, but not made any cosmetic additions
  19. “For an SUV” speaks volumes… (Full disclosure, I’m not an SUV fan, but see my sig below)
  20. I’m looking at a 71 reg 1.4 tsi iv hybrid, to replace my mk3. What sort of electric range can I expect in normal real world driving, anyone know, please? Thanks in advance.
  21. OK, I’ve done a search, and tried to get onto the Octy 3 forum, both unsuccessfully, (page not available on the forum) hence posting here. On my 2018 car, with ACC, the majority of the lacquer on the black grille is bubbling up. Not yet peeling, but looking awful. I’m tempted to try and remove the lacquer completely, and depending on how it looks, try and apply new. Has anyone had the same problem, or have any tips, please? Many thanks. Malcolm
  22. Thanks! I’m a bit of a numpty with this, as you might have guessed - do I use the existing SD card?
  23. Reassurance please! The satnav in my 2018 Octavia 3 hasn’t ever been updated. I have added a screen shot of an eBay listing below for a replacement card. I have checked, and the part number of my unit is on the list quoted in the eBay listing, so it looks ok, I think. I understand not to buy a cheaply, but to get a Skoda version. So, does this look OK? (no repercussions on any advice given, I assure you!) And if so, is it simply a case of old card out, new one in? Thanks in advance Malcolm
  24. Not sure, but some (facelift?) have a separate set of lights next to the grille. This is my 18 reg.
  25. No, mine had a multi-cable insert into the loom behind the glove box - complete with connectors, so it was a case of just unplugging, insert the new bit, and re-connecting. TBH, I don’t think that, while trying to help, I’m really helping, sorry. Malcolm
