HAD ENOUGH
That's so really sad to say that, as the car has been a real steady uber reliable mile muncher for 20 years. Skoda will be upset and i bet this is more to do with VW mgmt. Ive had a Superb , a MK3 VRS and never had a prob and loved the dealer service. My new 2021 VRS has problems with the software , sometimes really annoying , really distracting and some may say dangerous. BUT i love it , the looks i get , the people who ask. I had a service tech from the local PORCHE dealer say to me at a set of lights, that he really loved the colour( met grey) and the wheels, He said we have a model in the showroom the same colour. Prob wouldn't get any change out of £120k on that one . So a guy that deals with hyper cars likes an Octy . Skoda got 90% right in this car the software came from VW. IT WILL BE FIXED,, im sure of it

VRS MPG - what are you getting?
42mpg 55 mph on motorway. High 20's in round town if i keep in eco and keep coasting. Hey , we knew this prior to purchase

Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
Hi Janis ,Your car being a left hand drive Euro spec prob takes away issues that we UK people are having such as the ACC sensing cars in the inside lane and reacting . Im glad you don't have any problems and would be good to know others experience from other European countries. I know a guy from Sweden on this forum and he has had loads of problems

Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
Having had 2 prev Skodas , Superb and and VRS. I have never had a problem till now. I must say my dealer have been exceptional and its not their fault that they have to deal with so many Octys in this state. Im sure they are lobbying Skoda UK and this problem will get solved.

KPH/MPH
My car has problems as you all have said plus nav probs. Nav telling me im 5 miles or more away from where i am. See , some would say , just use android. Yes i will , but i get distracted from driving due to the system glitches , its creating a real risk for driving and causing an accident due to the **** that is displayed on that NOT UK FRIENDLY screen. Built for the left hand drive with scant regard for us. My car now going in for a week to look at the " we have no idea on that nav problem but we have 2 other cars we are working on with the same problem". There are too many of us with too many problems on a car that is the main bread and butter for Skoda , a car that has always been the goto for reliability and longevity for cab owners. Skoda and VW will solve this and it better be soon!!

Navigation system does not load.
Join the Q mate. This forum is littered with infotainment software issues, glitches, black screens , endless loading circles. Log all probs and tell dealer immediately as the car is not as described and not fit. It reminds me of a air crash investigation show a few years ago. The pilots were fixated on a computer problem on why the engines were a low thrust while the throttles were at full. The pilots only looked at the throttle screen while the plane descended into the ground. A bit of a severe example but when things dont work we get fixated on the screen to try to work the problem ,,, at the expense of driving the car. That is a risk and shouldnt be a risk as the car should have gone through full testing prior to launch. BTW its not just us ,, the Golf 8 has the same problems o hear. As i have said before the Octy and the Golf are the bread and butter of the VW group and the brands really need not annoy their loyal customer base. Skoda may have taken the eye off the ball here as they expand into India and further. Too many users , too many problems , there will be a fix and we can get back onto praising the car again for all the good bits. Stick with it mate , dont give the dealer an inch although not their fault , if we all shout , they must do the right thing by us. Amen Brothers

What Tyres on VRS?
Surrey John , with the improvements the major world tyre manufacturers are doing in all season tyres , we may see that as a future choice in the UK.

What Tyres on VRS?
Hi , you will feel the difference as the 4s is a great tire. The top 3 today as reviewed by tyre reviews are the Mich 4s , Conti Sport 6 and the Goodyear F1 super sport. I have the F1 super sports and say i cant tell the diff from Mich 4s. So far a great tyre and really good in a spirited drive in the wet . Hated Bridgestone but liked Falken's and even the Avon's were good if price is an issue. Wet grip is important up here in Scotland as wet is the default.

What Tyres on VRS?
Thats a bit of debate that one. I did it on last car and was told by a few Qwik Fits and National , that as long as its a quality tyre mid range and above and has the same speed rating and same size ,, its fine

2021 VRS TDI 4x4 - A few weeks into ownership
Just a wee note on the ACC , my Superb last car 67 plate , did exactly the same with cars ,, mostly lorries in the inside lane as i overtook. I learned to keep my foot near the peddle to stop the braking. This may be caused by the design that most of the markets this system is used on drive on the other side to us Brits. We well maybe an after thought as a lot of guys on this forum from east Europe , Scandinavia dont mention this problem. My tuppence as usual

New Software Glitch FFS!
Update , the dealer wants my car to come in at the end of the month potentially for 5 days. They already have another Octy in with the same problem. The service dept say they dont know why its doing it and are contacting Skoda HQ . Mass recall surely as potential customers who read these forums must be thinking that the Octy or the Golf are not viable prospects and look to other brands.
-
New Software Glitch FFS!
Its not really the point Janis. This system should never have been approved for use with so many glitches. Some glitches are minor for sure but they annoy the driver and take concentration away from the road while we touch various menu buttons trying to regain functionality that should be there. Take for instance the spinning circle or black screen glitch. When that happens , no climate control , no radio function or phone. These cars such as the Octy and Golf in the VW group are their bread and butter and if brand loyalty starts to falter then the brands need to really be getting a real grip and fixes in place and offer some goodwill to us customers who have spend thousands on their products over the years. I lease my car and pay around £4k per year over the last 6 years equaling £24k into the coffers of VW finance.

New Software Glitch FFS!
Hi all, a new issue arose tonight. Whilst driving to my office in central Glasgow , i noticed the sat nav map showed me about 5 miles north of where i was. Parked the car got what i needed from the office. Started the car and it showed me in the middle of the river Clyde. So i though lets do a route back home. Car got my address location correct but not where i really was. So the nav voice said take a left onto such and such street. If i was unfamiliar with the area i would have turned into oncoming traffic if i had obeyed the nav. Ive put a picture showing me outside Glasgow City chambers and the map showing me that i was in the Firhill Basin. Presuming i would have drowned if i was there. So what was new today. Dealer picked up car to install a required software update. Strangely the software version numbers stayed the same. Ive put up with enough of these issues and worry about the other more important safety features such as collision control , what if that F's up. Calling dealer tomorrow.

Infotainment not saving settings
Yep as others say , dealer update. Mine going in this coming week. The MPH/KPH thread will tell you a lot about the buggy shouldnt have been released software

MK4 VRS TDI200 Overall impression
Hi all over in Glasgow i have not seen any VRS's and that's good. I get loads of looks and i really enjoy the car. Yes the software is ****e but i have a dealer appointment next week for a full update. I did this week get 39.9 mpg on eco on the motorway. YEEE , prob the best it will do. I'm not bothered as moving from a Superb 190 dsg sportline to this showed me that the Superb was big heavy and not as responsive. When i had the Superb i thought it was fast and responsive. Here is a wee pic of mine

WTF Is happening System Gliches
Hi Ajdude thx for your reply , my car is the petrol VRS built 20th December 2020. I think its fair to say they served us with a BETA version of the coding and i read that the VW's are having similar problems. It makes me worry a little that the other systems , such as radar or inlane etc may have faults further down the line. The software i had in my Columbus set up om my last car Superb was pretty much faultless. Why so long to rectify ,, is it not just software?

WTF Is happening System Gliches
Another update and info for all you guys having probs. This morn , the car asked for my sign in details. So i put them in and up comes a familiar spinning wheel telling me to be patient. So i waited and stayed patient for 30mins and F all happened. In that time no access to radio , climate control , phone etc. So i called my supplying dealer and they told me a major software service was due on my car. I wonder when they were going to tell me. Anyway the dealer is coming to pick it up and they told me it takes quite a while to carry out the service. Call your dealer and hopefully we can get an end to this crap system

WTF Is happening System Gliches
Last update: The dementia problem with the Octy now gone. Checked it there after leaving it a couple of hours and it loaded my profile right away. I did nothing other than leave it alone and locked. Jeez , was there no software checking when they coded this crap.

WTF Is happening System Gliches
Oh wo is me with this system software in the Octy. Today it forgot me as main user, all my settings radio stations etc gone and in guest mode. When i click my name on users menu it comes up changing vehicle settings,, i say ok , it says Sorry function unavailable. So i try to re- login using my set email and password. SORRY FUNCTION UNAVAILABLE!!. Next i get out and lock the car , leave it for 5 mins. For the last 9 weeks of ownership when i open the digital display says welcome and my name. Nope not there after locking. I carry out the steps above and cant chose guest or my name as user. WTF is this. I'll be on to Skoda in the morning but as these gremlins go , i bet its gone by morning. Any ideas on whats happening after all i shouldn't need to be a computer coder to work this system.

Too early to buy an Octavia MK4?
Hi , i drove the 1.5 is a Karoq and a 2020 Kodiak. Seemed fine and quite a spirited engine in 150 hp guise. As to the software in the Octy ,sure there are some improvements that can and will be made over time. Theres nothing major other than it doesn't remember your preferred settings such as climate and driving mode. 20 seconds and its changed to your needs. I have the VRS and i love it. Ok its fast but it has 600 ltrs of boot space. No other car in this segment has this amount , just 50 ltrs less than a Superb. As to heated windscreen , maybe save your cash on that , IMHO no need. I would go for DCC as the suspension on the non VRS is maybe a tad old school torsion beem. I may be wrong on that. I cant talk of the Skala havent driven one. My pick , non VRS would be the SEL with some nicer wheels added in a good metalic , say velvet red. You maybe have different options outwith the UK. Lastly DSG was a must for me but dont know if you can get that with the 1.5 ltr
