ACC Braking when overtaking
Had the same prob in my last car a Superb , have it in this car too. I know its going to happen and i keep my foot hovering over the gas and cancel the braking with a wee tap of the gas. Ive always thought the car thinks its undertaking as it would if you did this maneuver in the continent. Dont contact the dealer for a misaligned sensor as its not a warranty issue i believe and will cost. Its just an inherent flaw in the system for us in the UK and those down under. Most of Skoda's market drive on the op side of the road from us.

LED Matrix headlights.
So up here in Glasgow we have a very foggy night tonight . What a joy to see the matrix lights dance trying to work out what was happening. The good is they identified the fog and didn't go full beam, they shone to the side and beamed low on the road ahead. V clever tech!! Best headlights ive ever had ( although needed some software fixes like the rest of the car)

LED Matrix headlights.
Every night i use the car , on set off i push the lever forward into auto mode and it does its stuff. In lit up areas you wont notice much , but when the road gets darker and onto totally unlit the magic happens. Since the software update on the lights ( over the air update) i am never flashed even though im on full beam on some parts of the road . V clever. Best bit for me is on the motorway as the lights identify all road signs and illuminate them 100 yards ahead , including overhead gantry signs.

Octavia iV vrs PHEV vs sportline PHEV (non-UK)
The VRS has independent suspension on the petrol version , not sure on phev , the sportline maybe has torsion beam. The petrol has an electronic diff, don't think you get that in the PHEV

As an update , the Sat nav forgetting probs still exist as does the speaker popping and SOS flashing red. So no idea what was done as nothing seems improved.

Software Campaign Update
So , my car went in for a campaign update today. I was thinking yes , i'll get the 1806 software, an upgrade from my current 1803 version. Car came back 4 hours later with 1803 as the version installed like before. So i have asked the dealer to contact and tell me what the campaign was for , what fixes etc. Interestingly i was reading the Golf forums and they had a lot of talk on 1803-to 06 and even talk of 1810. The thread spoke about users with B and C units can go to 1806 while D and beyond units go to 1803. I wonder if thats true?

Speakers popping
I might have read this somewhere on the forum. I have every now and again have popping from the front speakers. Its like someone chapping the window and its quite annoying as i think i have ran over something or someone is chapping the window. Anyone else? Im getting 1806 later this week , so hopefully gone along with the other small probs

Mk4 Octavia Infotainment System
I contacted my dealer and asked if there was an update to 1803. A week passed till today when they told me of a new campaign for my car. I wonder if they would have reached out to me without my prompt. So i reckon I'm getting 1806. So does 1806 solve the sat nav forgetting probs? Any other updates you have noticed?

How to properly wash our beauties
Always in the Autotrader top 10 is Simoniz , been around for many decades. Does a lovely job but murder to buff , you really need to work hard. Upsides , good long lasting protection, v cheap at around £7 a tin

Night time brightness
Have any of you noticed as it gets dark , so does the dash. In twilight i see it flickering, then at night its quite dim. I quite enjoy the brightness but cant seem to change the dimming at night . Setting the brightness does nowt! You used to be able to have it bright all the time in my 67 plate Superb. VAG stop making choices for me.

2021 Octavia VRS iv Remap, and lowering springs
Theres a place v near me up here in Glasgow , i noticed last week 2 Golf 8 GTI's parked out side this tuning company. One had the bonnet up. So as we have the same engine, it may well be possible. The Golf GTI users must have been a bit miffed when the Clubsport came out. Something Skoda will do in the years to come with a Challenge model.

What tyres did you get?
For the last 15 years of company leases i have always had UHP tyres fitted from all the top names. I have never gotten more than 18k from a pair of fronts. I change around 2.5mm. I wouldn't feel safe driving on a wet Scottish road in the depth of winter with tyres approaching the UK legal limit of 1.6mm

Software Update Recall/Campaigns

Wait Before and after starting the engine
Dont worry about all that , this engine can be tuned to Golf R BHP. So VW group have this engine low tuned and normal town , motorway or occasional thrashing wont worry this engine. Its a very proven platform this engine and unlikely to F up if serviced well. Now that brings me to , service at 10k miles or wait till the variable kicks in at around 19k if yoove been extra cautious? Taking into account i or other users on lease will hand these back in three years and under warranty. My guess ,, wait for the variable to kick in

What tyres did you get?
UK spec is 19's . i have seen in europe some Rs's have 18 inch hideous wheels. Check your spec!!! The VRS will look **** without those 19's. Go look at the standard Golf GTI 18's and weep. A lookwarm hatch is all about the 4 circles.

What tyres did you get?
I got Goodyear Eagle F1 Super sports and i was so glad as those Bridgestone's were atrocious in the wet . Also the tyre geek on Youtube rated the top 3 UP tyres as Mitch PS4S Conti 6 and the Goodyear as best on the market. Have to say though the Eagles are not as good as the PS4S

VRS iV seems to have a mind of it's own
Why pay your own money to be their software beta tester. You have gave them more chances to resolve than they deserve. Aye get it rejected or say you will swap for a newer built car. My car doesnt have many probs now , only sat nav memory.
