Car in garage tomorrow (Nav, SOS and now collision light) - thoughts.........
Hi mate , dont count on the fixes getting done. Your dealer tech guy like mine is in the dark as what needs to be fixed and these tech guys rely on the SW outputs from campaigns. My car has been in many times for frozen screen , SOS , Sat Nav , ACC etc . All they ever done was update me from 1788 v SW to 1803 , update the AC climate. Since i have officially complained to VWFS ( personal lease) i was given two options. a) Stay with the car as a fix is being "MANUFACTURED" and released by 31st March 2022, if that doesn't happen full rejection will be accepted. b) Reject now and keep the car till i organise another from any other brand or stay with VW group. Looking at the wait list and the price of new leases , its not the time to change , so i await the big fix and if they cant fix its bye bye and hopefully the market will calm down by Mid year.

Weird clicking/popping sound O4, vRS Estate Petrol DSG
So even a guy up above with 1810 version still has the prob. 31st March fix , hmmm not looking good , too much to fix. Kinda cascade effect fix one prob kills the next. As VWFS told me they are manufacturing this fix. Hmm manufacturing rather than coding? I think new units need installed

4 weeks old car and gearbox fault
The £1k was a goodwill payment for all the strife encountered on a new product that should be free form defects , a product that has been into the dealers 8 times for pointless work that made no difference and in some occasions made other minor problems worse.

4 weeks old car and gearbox fault
I have the VRS through personal lease with VWFS. I complained recently that the car now 10mths old has been at the dealer 8 times for various faults. VWFS complaints dept contacted me and told me, after doing some background checks to my story that i could reject the vehicle and stay with it till i received another vehicle from any other brand. My contract would end after the new car arrived. Option 2 was to agree to stay with the vehicle till the MARCH 31st 22 fix and receive an inconvenience payment of £650 with the disclaimer that if the fix did not happen or did not work i could again reject and walk away. After looking at the market it was hard to find a new car that would be available in the short term or med term and the prices were loads higher than i was willing to pay. So i said to VWFS , ill stay for the fix but the goodwill payment was too low and if i kept the car i wanted an extended warranty. In the end VWFS offered £1000 to assist with purchasing an extended warranty. What do you guys think about this?

Octavia estate - infotainment version
Size of screen usually tells you 2 of the 3 , If you have a 10" its Columbus. If its smaller its one of the others with swing being the most basic i think and only in entry level cars.

21 plate Octavia PHEV - Navigation system fault - any fix ?
The group must be brickin it , the lost revenue re chips , returning customers and satisfaction with the brand. I also think the poor cousin mentality is at large here with Audi , VW getting the fixes swifter than Seat and Us. Hindsight , i dont think this major roll out will be without problems.

21 plate Octavia PHEV - Navigation system fault - any fix ?
I was assured that by that date a FIX ALL will be released to the dealer networks . The exact words were VW group were manufacturing a full fix. Manufacturing is interesting as that sound like hardware. I think that may be quite an extensive fix and time consuming for dealers who dont have any cars to give out as courtesy. Certainly my dealer has a scant amount of new cars or used. I also noted the price of 18-19 plate cars as way above what they should be , i heard one guy saying his VRS was in positive equity after 6 months ownership. No wonder due to the chip shortage and the long waits , some on here are waiting.

21 plate Octavia PHEV - Navigation system fault - any fix ?
I too have a D unit and it showed me in the middle of a loch 5 miles from my current location. I then plugged in my home address and the nav told me take the next left. The next left was into oncoming traffic. Trip to the dealer and i was upgraded to 1803 S/W. Didnt happen again. That said my SOS problem got worse 2 days ago when it rang the emergency services and i couldnt stop the call. Had to explain to the call handler the prob with the car. All our WOES WILL BE GONE by the 31st March 22 so VWFS tell me.

Software
Yes Geoff , I have that every time the car starts and it does really annoy me as sometimes i press yes and it reverts to some other settings like AC on auto temp set to 22 deg. No idea why that happens , like most of the crazy things it does

Software
i heard today from VWFS that there is a fix to fix all and it will land by 31-03-22

ACC Braking when overtaking
Its an old problem , had it in my 67 plate Superb. The problem i had recently was that it did not detect the car in front while set to 45 mph on the motorway and the brake warning came on.

Software
They may well laugh but i was reaching high and not expecting to get what i want as you never really win with big companies. I will prob get an extended warranty and a box of chocs You need to really think , why would i put up with this when i wouldn't in any other product. If my telly started to freeze screen, perform pop pop sounds etc, it would be back on Currys shop floor. BTW VWFS they said they would call me back in 24 hrs , 48 hrs later no call. Poor poor service from all ends

Software
So with all these continuing issues and no real end in sight. I have a VWFS lease and as of yesterday complained and told them of my many woes and that they were not unique to me or the car. I said on the call that if i had even just one of these faults with say a new TV ( software) i would return the set to the store immediately. I told them that i have had the car at the dealers 8 times in the 9 months of lease and i believed i had been more than patient waiting for a successful outcome. VWFS said , what be a successful outcome for you. So i asked for a full refund of all 9 monthly payments emphasising that consumers are not the beta software testers for the goods they sell and in fact the car fails the sales of goods act on the point of fit for purpose. I also asked for an extended warranty should the car get fixed. Finally saying if it cannot be fixed at the next dealer visit then it needs to be full rejection. I really dont want this as i love the mechanics and drive of the car and the attention from other car fans. I await their call and the next steps. If i get to the point of rejection its onwards to full electric and for me that's sad as the VRS was to be my last petrol indulgence knowing that electric was the next car.

What are the MK4 improvements over the MK3?
He may be coming from the 19s on the VRS , speccing an 18 may be more comfortable. I have to say my 19s are more comfortable on this suspension than the 18s i had on a MK3. Overall the ride is super smooth and passengers have commented on this . That said i had 17s on a superb courtesy car and it was really good, big balloon tires.

Pirelli P7 no sidewall protection
The Goodys do have a good level of protection. Overall have been impressed during the warmer months but they are down to around 3mm and VRS torque spins the tires at very low revs. Think i am going to ask santa for 2 PS4S Here's a q for the boffins out there. What would the handling characteristics be like by replacing the front 2 with Mitch cross climate 2's , keeping the rears as Goodyear UHP's.

New Ap in Shop
It really does my "nut" right in , that time was spent and codes written for a calendar addition to the infotain. When we all know that the base software is F'd and some users are getting new head units while other dealers are unaware of any problems. Today my car on the M8 on ACC set to 40 in heavy traffic did not brake when the car in front did and came up with the brake alert. FFS is this something else i now need to worry about. Previously i enjoyed the slow then pick up of the system and gave it my full trust. As i said to the Mrs " It will brake far faster than a human" So what then happens when i do indeed rear end someone. Sorry insurance it wasn't me in a Shaggy style retort!!

Delivery times?
Hi mate ,this is the journey my VRS took in Jan this year. Transit from the Czech rep to a port in Germany ( Emden) , then onto Teeside port Newcastle and then around 2 weeks for a transporter to have enough cars to make the trip up to Glasgow. The dealer sent me screenshots from their ordering system , even showed the name of the boat. I was so excited i tracked the boats progress into Newcastle. Long time to wait but you'll love it and hopefully this late a build will have ironed out the software issues.
