VRS iV seems to have a mind of it's own
Doesnt look like they updated anything , potentially your car with 1668 S/W its as updated as it can be and your head unit may be a B or C unit. I read in other threads that the C units or the before D units were only updated to a certain S/W version. How long have you had the car and have you reported the various faults to the dealer?

Settings infotainment not saved
Im sure they know all about it. My guess is they will solve all the Golf 8 probs before they touch us. Dont think the dealer will help either as i think they are kept in the dark and cant re-code this **** show. Call SKODA UK and make a complaint , tell them you want a resolve and if not first 2 services free or a reduction in your monthly fee lastly if you can be bothered go down the rejection route. It will get fixed but not any time too soon

VRS iV seems to have a mind of it's own
How the hell can the unit be unknown. Its a software issue number. By the looks your is well out of date. What variant is she and when built?

Settings infotainment not saved
Its not normal but its what every Octy 4 does

VRS iV seems to have a mind of it's own
Its a D unit (long number at top) same as mine and your S/W is 1788 whilst mine is 1803. Contact dealer and get it in for update

VRS iV seems to have a mind of it's own
Goto settings , sys info , you will see the hardware code ending in a letter , mine being D. There are older hardware versions , i think B and C. These units i believe have more problems On that page it tells you of your S/W version

VRS iV seems to have a mind of it's own
My car done that for most of this year , then stopped doing it. No idea why even after 1803 installed it did this. As said in July it stopped doing it. BTW i spoke today with an owner of a 70 plate Dec 20 build of a VW Golf GTI. He said he has not has one problem with his software. Hmmm

Own backgrounds on instruments panel or infotaiment?
Backgrounds , water , feathers , wood , carbon , black and sky. Change it once or twice then you get bored. I would like some personalised ( **** you spell checker , its not spelt with a Z) wall paper

VRS instead of GTI?
My opinion , GTI looks good without those stock wheels but theres loads on the road. I keep getting noticed in my VRS as there very few on the road especially in meteor grey ( discontin colour ) Why wait 54 weeks when you can get a similar performance , same engine and most parts the same too. Since no grey option , Velvet red looks good.

Tyre Tread or whats left of it
Scottie , i hear from so many drivers that they get 20k plus out of tyres on a FWD car. Ive never had that. My last car was a Superb , so big heavy engine on the axles and best was near 13k. Now i don't ever go to legal limit of 1.6mm , i change at just over 2mm or near 3mm if its the winter, I also never buy budgets , i'll drop to mid range say Falkens, Toyos but mostly i buy premium like conti 5 or 6 , Mitch 4 or Goodys. i do this as frequently I'll be on the road to Aberdeen or Inverness. As the only thing between you and the road , i want the assurance that my tyres are of good qual. What do you forum guys think , todays budgets are ok for long distance after all they do have to have all the UK accreditation? What do you guys replace OEM's with , what mileage do you get from a front set?

Tyre Tread or whats left of it
Could be the real ****ty roads in Scotland , rough un-maintained asphalt. Plenty of it here. I bet Dave from Sydney has smooth free from frost , snow , ice , torrential rain roads. Lucky you Dave. However OZ has the top 10 of deadliest creatures and that would scare the living daylights oot of me. Spiders, snakes and F-in big sharks, not to mention the crims ( watched your factual documentary called Neighbours back in the 90s., got so much info on your culture) Deadliest creatures in Glasgow range from the junkie******s, local neds or the September Wasp.

Tyre Tread or whats left of it
I have 5.5k miles in the octy and my fronts ( Goodyear F1's) are down to 3.5 on left and near 4mm on right. Now i have done some fast driving but most of the time round town im in eco. I dont think ill get much past 10k on these tires. Plus i wouldnt want to enter the winter with below 3mm. It must be the torque that is shaving these tires. Lastly Tyre or Tire ,, seems those pesky Yanks want us to use Tire going on the spelling check here and other aps. Tyre is UK or European spelling me thinks

Sat Nav memory
Ok so we all have the Sat nav doesn't save our home address or other point of interest. Even with SW 1803 on a D unit my home wont save. I have noticed though, that all the destinations i have asked Laura to plot for me are saved. It has also saved regular destinations such as Tesco etc. So tomorrow i will ask Laura directions to my address. That way it should save and i can then use that when away from home. Some may say , just use Google etc. I have to say i like the sat nav in the Octy and the congestion on roads has been real to life on most occasions. The best bit is when Laura comes on and says that there is congestion ahead without plotting a destination. Don't think Google does that. Hopefully SKODA will get this sorted as i have no problems other than that with SW 1803.

Octy Software in the Enyaq
So what's the beef , the video link below show the Octy software in the Enyaq as a total mirror. Yet the Enyaq forum here doesn't mention any user probs. I have a D head unit and i bet these Enyaqs do too or later. So WTF gives. They can get this model f-up free but our Octys are rife with problems . I do however note that since i went to 1803 i have not had any probs other than sat nav forgetting me. Day drive Skoda Enyaq iV 60 132kw 180hp SUV POV - YouTube

Reversing Auto Brake?
Up here in Glasgow its been really bad weather , flooding etc. So yesterday came along a road , seen the cars back up due to a big puddle with cars stuck in it. So tried a 3 pointer and while reversing into brush it felt like i had hit something as the car stopped V abruptly like hitting the kerb or reversing into a solid object. I thought F ive smashed the rear bumper. I stopped checked and no damage. Did the car automatically brake for me ? That's the only thing i can think of . If so well done Skoda , you may have got something right with beta software.

Octavia 2021 Seat belt and 7 Gear View
Who uses the paddles anyway. Waste of plastic. When the box shifts and down shifts faster than a human , why bother. Want more control , get a manual.

Spare wheel
I can only tell you that on my 67 plate Superb the full size was a 16" wheel with big balloon conti tire , not a space saver. If you ever fit one your ACC wont work while your on the spare.

Reject or fix?
Mismatched panels , and all those S/W glitches. Bin it and move on. If your dead set on one and i know they look good, practical etc. Go to another dealer , check the head unit code and S/W version. If its a D unit ( You will see pics on other threads) and the S/W is at least 1803 version , you might just get a goodun. I have a D unit and had your problems but since 1803 mostly all is fixed. Sat nav and clima niggles still there but NO FREEZING. Running 1803 for over 6 weeks now

About to order a VRS which is the best engine?
I moved from the Superb sportline 184 dsg to the VRS petrol. Totally different feel , quieter sometimes electric quiet , so much smoother in running. You will appreciate the diff im sure and those 19" wheels dont hamper th drive or make it overly thumpy. If you asked me , if not the VRS what else would you go for. That would be a hard Q and i might have thought of an N30 but the Octy has the looks

Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
I have 1803 SW and just seen an update over the air. It did not say what it was , it did however have a space to tell you what the update was but no one at Skoda bothered to list the changes. Ill do their beta testing again. So far tho 1803 is near prob free apart from sat nav forgetting and climate 22 degrees forgetting

July 2021 Octavia Brochure
Normally i would never look at a silver car , too boring for me but i have seen the silver in the flesh in VRS guise and the colour makes it look near mirror silver. It looks much better than the pics

Software updates
Done over the air rather than a dealership visit , must be VAG's attempt at a mass vac for their cars , knowing the cost of a full recall. Im on 1803 and as said clima is ropey but all else works now,

VRS PETROL MPG Competition
So after 5 months of av 32 mpg , decided to do a 16 mile run down the coast and set her at 55mph. I got 54mpg. The picture shows 51 as i hit traffic before i stopped for the pic. Anyone getting any better on the petrol VRS. I think that is a marvellous MPG in a petrol car.

Potential new Octavia SEL iV owner but concerned
Hi mate im on SW 1803 and i haven't had any major probs. Ok sat nav doesnt remember anything , doesn't annoy me as i use android. The CLIMA sometimes reverts to auto and forgets my choice but apart from that better than the probs i had at the start. On another note , i just leased a new Corsa for my daughter , Vauxhall's infotainment screen and menus are baffling, confused and no where as good as VAG ( when working). The Octy is a real good car and these SW issues will be solved in the future, sure a lot of the SEL First edition guys had serious probs.
