Park assist, only 50% functionallity?
Park assist needs the extra sensors (located in the sides, where bumpers reach the wheel arch)

Delivery times?
You were quite lucky, as iV models were withdrawn on 23rd October. It appears that lead time of those ordered a year ago, is nearer 18 months, but they might catch up a bit and so end of 2023 sounds fair. However by then other Octavia might be a facelift version.

Are Skoda advertised servicing prices inclusive of VAT and why are some approved dealerships trying to charge more?
The prices are supposed to be fixed (although dealer can reduce them), never more. If you book online, they can’t charge more than advertised price (or if they try to, then simply tell them that’s all you are paying as that was the quote)

Air Con - Sour Smell
Simple answer is don’t turn it off, it is ducted air, bacteria won’t get a chance to grow if regularly being used.

Inspection/service question
From memory the first tax is upto week before end of month (so upto 53 weeks). It is a remnant of the days when someone in dealership had to physically go and buy tax discs, then put them in windscreen before handover. No idea why it still exists as tax can be done online in minutes.

Actual boot volume in Karoq 4x4 2.0 TDI with space saver spare wheel
In UK advertised as 521 litres (standard seats) or 588 litres max with varioflex (which presumably means seats furthest forward) There is also a note in optional equipment that 4x4 models get different temporary spare wheel There is also a disclaimer at end of brochure that basically says advertised items apply to standard spec. Logically the advertised boot space doesn’t apply if you add the spare and raised floor, so selectively quoting parts of the brochure isn’t going to help you, if you want low boot floor, then can’t have spare too.

New tyres on the 4x4 superb
The problem with a lot of articles like that is they rarely mention if they are working with 2 tyres at about 2mm of tread, or 2 with nearer 5mm tread being paired up with 2 new tyres. Generally I work to the idea that it is ok to swap the part worn tyres to back if they have 4mm (or more) tread. In the dryer summer months can go down a bit to say 3.5mm on rear, but not really a good idea in the rainy autumn months to have treads below about 3 - 3.5mm on back. But then I don’t recommend summer tyres all year in UK because many have a noticeable fall off of grip in wet below +10c, and are often poor in wet below +5c. In the dry grip seems to fall off below +4c. Most wet days in UK Nov-March are usually below +10c @DEANO40 might find that a 4x4 with summer tyres grips less well on salted roads where salt has made road wet at few degrees below 0c than with a 2wd with all season or winter tyres. Quite simply if it is cold enough for salt to be spread, it is too cold to expect decent grip from a summer tyre. Ideally should be considering 4 all season tyres.

All Season Tyres....
The test that I find interesting is the one done in wet at +8c and which includes Bridgestone Potenza sport and blizzak LM005 as named summer and winter tyres https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2022-Sport-Auto-All-Season-Tyre-Test.htm Just goes to show that in cold rain (which UK gets lots of Nov-March) better off having all season tyres than tyres for cruising down the autoroute de soleil at 30+c It is noticeable how grip on my Pirelli P7s falls off in wet below about +11c, even though they do well in summer tyre tests which are probably done at 15c+. Before anyone asks I run a winter set currently (which was best option 4 years ago), but if I was replacing tyres now would probably get cross climate 2 (now they have increased available sizes to include 215/45 R18)

Lane Assist and Front Assist - Just me?
Unfortunately Lane assist is a liability in UK as we don’t repaint white lines on some roads frequently, and allow patchwork roadworks that leave all sorts of false lines from edges of repairs. Even motorways have partly removed temporary lines. All of which confuse it as clearly wasn’t designed to work with our patchy roads

Wheel nut cover tool
Looks like plastic tweezers (similar shape to sugar tongs) about 4 inch (100mm long). Should be in the polystyrene in wheel well (along with locking wheel nut)

How to improve steering feel
Remember the Superb was always designed more as a comfort limo, than a sports car. If you want a car with sharp handling, it’s not really one to choose

Issues with Skoda Octavia 2021 combi 1.5 TSI
There was software mapping update for earlier 1.5s, has yours received this ? Don’t think it was done unless customer asked. There is a feature where engine idles faster when cold for few minutes until it reaches a certain temperature. (Ides about 1000 rpm instead of 800rpm) It is related to getting the emissions equipment hot enough to work. Maybe something else is happening in first 40-60 seconds if jerky. If you are getting a beeping at speed, do you have something enabled, eg winter tyres speed warning, or a max speed alert. Go into the infotainment, car, settings and scroll through the list checking settings of everything (possibly previous owner set up obscure choice that you have never looked at). Also check you don’t have speed warning set on cruise control stalk. The high pitched metallic sound might be an oil problem, when was oil last changed, and did they put correct oil grade in (some garages apparently just use a generic bulk lubricating oil) instead of specific grade specified for VW group petrol engines. Squeaking brakes might be corrosion if your car sat around unused for months. Do you know build date and first registration date. A quick check is to look at tyres, the 4 digit date code (2 digits are week number, 2 the year), usually will be about 2 months before car is built or about 4 months before car registered, if it lot more then it sat around somewhere and there is corrosion on brake callipers causing the squeak.

Inspection/service question
There are two parts, a time (in days) and a mileage It is the earlier of the two. Without knowing your mileage it appears the inspection part is coming up (but most people could inspect their own car : tyre pressures, check oil and fluids etc). You will get warnings on dashboard on startup from 30 days There are some rubbish dealers around, that seem to book up many weeks in advance, especially if you want a courtesy car, and some now charge for the car too so more a hire car than a courtesy car.

SMARTLINK PROBLEM
Android auto might work with a cable, but not wireless (this was generally the spec upto 2 or 3 years ago), and you can use Google or Waze, but have to have the android auto app on your phone
-
SMARTLINK PROBLEM
Just get a short cable and plug in the phone But ideally should have asked dealer what it’s value (or cost as an option is) and got a price reduction to reflect missing spec if it was listed when you ordered it. The old saying of If don’t ask you won’t get applies as unlikely to volunteer a price cut. Could still ask now, nothing ventured, nothing gained

Can I change from 18" wheels to 16" wheels?
Apparently Michelin cross climate 2 range has now been increased to 127 sizes including 215/45 R18 (with higher load rating of 93) Now on Michelin website, even if stock not yet arrived at dealers

New kamiq on order
This is suggesting 5 months for Kamiq, or 6 months for DDG versions So second half of March appears to be a fair guess, which should be about the time you need it https://www.marnet-mobility.de/aktuelle-lieferzeiten.html

Wish i hadn't bought my MK4 Octavia and kept my karoq
Agree, gone downhill, faulty cars and lack of dealers workshops to fix them.

Lowering the SE L suspension similar to Sportline
You might be better seeing if the Seat Ateca (which is more sporty) uses stiffer anti roll bars, and if they will fit

Reduce milleage on PCP - possible ?
Of course it is silly to hand back if worth more than amount outstanding, some of the car buyers pay you same day, therefore can settle balance of PCP. Only an idiot would hand it back if they could sell it for more, pay off the finance, and pocket the gain (or use the money towards next car). note : I have used term ‘gain’ for clarity as common usage, but it isn’t a money gain as its money you have already spent as part of each months payments, so just recovering over paid amounts.
-
Reduce milleage on PCP - possible ?
You won’t get if you don’t ask, but if it reduces the finance company profit, I can’t see why they would. But remember PCPs are flexible, they are not like leases / hire (PCH). I suggest you get a rough idea of value (try couple of car selling sites like Motorway etc) then if it is more than you owe settle the PCP. You can always take out a bank loan to cover the balance, and the car is yours whatever the mileage. Beware of trying to get new PCPs as interest rate on many has rocketed up to nearer 6.9% which is likely to be lot higher than a loan. Don’t even think of adding it to your mortgage (you might still be paying for the car in upto 25 years time, long after you have got rid of it)

Tyre Replacement Options
@ThreeSixty Continental have just launched sport contact 7, which would be natural replacement for sport contact 5 Might not be available yet, but should be by by time winter tyres come off (March-April) Remember anything with sport in its name will generally provide more grip but wear faster. Anything with Eco tends to be hard, wears well, but doesn’t grip as well

Tyres annoyance....
The profile is only one measure of the tyre size. It will if not compensated by changing the size It is the outside diameter of the tyre that affects the indicated speed.
