Digital dash
Amundsen is the infotainment in the centre (the screen with radio and maps etc. It is completely separate unit to dashboard dials behind the steering wheel, so what is fitted as a dash is not linked

Summer closure
Think it varies by factory, one might be last week June and 2 weeks July, I am guessing the stagger allows maintenance teams to move sites Vaguely remember someone saying the have a closedown and stocktake, then 2 weeks complete closure for retooling and heavy line maintenance, then 2-3 days retraining, testing etc (with intermittent or slow lines), then back to full speed. However since pandemic, and chip shortages, has been reported a number of other stoppages have also taken place due to lack of components

Torn between skoda kamiq monte carlo and sel executive
Depending on timescales, the availability date might be relevant. If not one available might be waiting months. Some options seem to delay cars more than others, but ask the dealer to be honest about which delay it, tell them specifically not to invent a date that sounds good. The best way is to take the brochure and print out the specs with options prices page (don't need to print the pages with glossy pictures) https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/b608c280-45cc-4c76-a6a4-e809cb548038 Then take 3 coloured highlighters (or coloured pens) and for each row mark one of three : essential and couldn't live without; nice to have put wouldn't really miss it if wasn't there; no way would pay extra for this as a feature By time both of you have done that, you will then know what you really want, see which is nearest, and choose that way

Replacing Yeti
The NCAP rules have changed and if you put your old 10 year car against same criteria would probably getting same 1 star (or no stars). They are now rating it a lot on collision avoidance, not on how occupants are protected if unlucky enough to crash. Its not like a moden Dacia will crumple up like a 1970s rust bucket, they are still fitted with crumple zones and airbags

After having a bad fall last August looking for an automatic car.
@JoePeddos Not many (if any) reports of DQ200 problems in recent years, on smaller cars with 1.0 or 1.2 tsi Remember same engine and gearbox (and many other parts) are fitted to other Fabia size cars, eg VW Polo, Seat Ibiza, and slightly bigger and/or higher VW T-cross, Seat Arona, Skoda Kamiq, VW Taigo. Without wanting to make assumptions perhaps if you have had a fall and might now have difficulty getting in/out of cars one of these slightly higher alternatives might be worth looking at too.

Faithful friend – 1.2 TSI S DSG, 150,000 miles – dead. Replacement suggestions?
Is the car high mileage because it is used a lot nowadays, or because someone historically did higher mileages If it is the former, and the car is more a runabout for mobility reasons, then could an older Nissan leaf or Renault Zoe be the answer, electric with no gearbox etc A few years ago (in 2015) I managed to get a 7 month old 11k miles Fabia S 1.2 DSG, great car from end of mk2 Fabia, but a bit basic equipped. On the other hand basic spec means lot less to potentially break and need expensive repairs. But if all your friend needs is reliable basic transport and doesn't care if it is the latest fashion, then look at discontinued models that aren't so popular, get more for your money, perhaps something like a Suzuki

iPhone 11 won't charge or connect to Apple CarPlay via USB A port on 2019 Kodiaq
Are you saying it worked happily with your old iPhone, you have changed to different iPhone, and now doesn't work. Suggests you might have wrong software on new phone, rather than car has suddenly gained a fault.

1.5 TSI Driving Mode Selection - does Eco vs Normal affect gear switch rpms ?
As far as I'm aware, Eco affects coasting, rather than changing up gear whilst accelerating. I think it also affects ACC and has a more of an easing off and coasting effect when vehicle in front starts to slow down. Not sure about the 1.5, but the 1.0tsi can save anything from about 7% (cruising) to 14% urban) by switching from E10 unleaded to E5 premium fuel as it pulls better from lower revs so doesn't change down as much. Sort of makes it a no brainer providing it doesn't cost more than 7% (about 10p per litre) extra.

Locking Wheel Nut?
I found one of them by the kerb near my house recently, so presumably someone else left it on nut, is missing one as it fell off Any thoughts on what to do with it, bin it, sell it on here, or eBay it etc.

NIGHT VISION!
The alternative is fit something like Osram Night breaker bulbs, not as good as changing the lights, but better than standard bulbs. To change the bulbs, lift bonnet, undo the large rubber caps, reach in and undo. The trick is to not grab the outer tabs (they don't turn) but anticlockwise turn those on back of bulb, it's only about quarter turn

Octavia VRS 2018 New tyres?
Recommendation rather depends on if you want a summer tyre that will help you shave a tenth of a second off a lap time or a spirited drive along a B road. .... or if you want a tyre that is safe, and will get you home whatever the weather. If (a) then look at https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2022-Tyre-Reviews-UHP-Summer-Tyre-Test.htm If (b) then look at https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2022-Auto-Bild-All-Season-Tyre-Test.htm

Locking Wheel Nut?
Lift the boot floor, there is usually a lump of polystyrene in the wheel wheel, normally in there with jack etc. Very occasionally they get put in bottom of glovebox. There are not that many variations of lock nut, tyre centres often have a selection of adapters in a box anyway If your front tyres are wearing on the edges, get the tracking checked, otherwise replacement tyres will also wear. If the wear is not too bad, consider switching wheels front-back (but if you have got them so worn they will fail an MOT, then they will fail, whichever position they are in) But if getting 2 new tyres, might be better having them swapped anyway, so new tyres go on back.

Brake disc rust/scoring
Common problem, the back brakes only do something like 15% of the braking. It's more unsightly than a technical problem. No point in getting them changed, as will probably happen again if same discs and pads fitted. New pads will need to bed in, but might scrub it clean

Delivery times?
If this turns out to be correct, I wonder if UK range will also be rationalised further in next couple of days. My guess is they will make more money from retail sales, so might opt to drop the business spec and lease market Octavia until current backlog is cleared. Traditionally lease companies got good deals by taking up excess production capacity, but if can't build them fast enough then no point in offering discounted cars.

Next-Gen Skoda Kodiaq Spied In Production Body
The Kodiaq is also sold outside European countries and these don't currently have 2030 or 2035 deadlines. Might fade out from UK and Europe, but might carry on well into 2030s in other parts of the world.

Brake juddering
One thing you can do is to tell dealer it will be inspected and they should place the used discs in boot or footwell, so they can be tested. Also tell them if Independent inspector finds their diagnosis wrong they will be charged the inspection fee. They will the try much harder to find the manufacturing fault which is clearly there unless you have bee taking it around a racetrack.

Air con service at 2 years?
I wouldn't bother with a main dealer aircon service. Overpriced for not much work. If you never turn it off, won't get bacteria buildup, the pollen filter is separate so not really any filters in the a/c system that will get cleaned during its so called service. I have known people never had it touched in 10 years, never turn it off, still works well. More realistically if you think it needs doing, get it done as a specialist every 3-4 years. I have yet to see any evidence why it needs doing every 24 months instead of every 30, or 35 or 40 months etc.

Kodiaq incoming.
Be interesting to know how having both an Enyaq and Kodiaq works In practice, and if one is used more than the other. Or even why you think you need both.

Superb Sportline
Yes it's just for looks Sportline is just look sporty, it doesn't mean it is a sports car. Actually the superb has always been the opposite, built more as a limo. Basically big diamond cut alloys look great under bright lights when new, but a few years later when stones have damaged the surface, or a poor driver has hit a kerb, or anyone has hit edge of big pothole they look a mess. If you are struggling to visualise, just go to any car park and look at any 5+ year old car with big alloys. You will soon realise look dreadful unless you are kind of person who washes car and wheels at least fortnightly.

Tailgate realease button not working
Which version of keys or Kessy do you have, with some versions of kessy (where can keep key in pocket) you can walk up to the boot and it unlocks without unlocking the doors. (but I don't know if Fabia mk4 has that) So really only need the middle button to lock it up again, but most would just use the lock button. @munkebo66 can I suggest you check the locking settings in infotainment first, go into, car, then settings, scroll to the option with locking and tick or untick what you want. It might just be set up differently to how you expect and not a fault. Only if then still have a problem contact the dealer. Actually if it is new car, spend a few minutes and go into every setting in the list and set it up with your choice. Mine was delivered with a safety system off, either the front radar or blind spot monitoring (I forget which now), but if I hadn't been through list wouldn't have known.

New Skoda Fabia - which options?
The naive way of doing it is to assume that because an earlier version of Fabia suited you, must continue with new generation Fabia. This ignores world has moved on and there are some good alternatives out there. The better way to do it is to go on the configurator, add the specs you want, then print out the configuration at the end. Then take 3 coloured highlighters (or pen but not as clear) and go through each line splitting them into essential must haves, would be nice but wouldn't really miss them, and no way want to pay extra for that. Once you have decided what you really want, check some alternative brands. As an example few years ago I had a late mk2 Fabia, now I have a Seat Arona. I managed to secure brand new top spec with 1.0tsi DSG for about £20k (4 years ago), to get everything that I have on latest Fabia would be nearer £28k. But in reality many parts are virtually same so doesn't feel lot different. But if you are set on a Fabia, get some online quotes, (brokers or carwow etc) then when your local dealer offers you a price, ask him to match them. The cars all come from same supplier, so not like one dealer is buying them at hugely higher price.

Intro, stereo, tyre and squeak
Can't help on stereo upgrade Get some good all season tyres, try Vredestein Quatrac, or Goodyear Vector 4season Gen 3 or Michelin cross climate 2 If you have squeaks from suspension go to any good hardware or DIY store and buy a spray can of silicon lubricant, then spray it over suspension bushes and rubber drive gaiters. Obviously if anything is worn out then this won't be a proper fix
