  1. My motor has stalled on me several times of late, while approaching a junction. It happens when warm or cold and is very intermittent, think it's happened 4 times in the last 2 months. Now it's just been serviced and the temp gauge sits in the centre and it warms up in what I can only describe as the normal time (i.e. the time it's always taken). Also just 2 years ago the temp sensor in the engine was changed, but at the time all sorts of wierd things were happening. Was wondering if this fault could be due to the sensor in the exhaust incorrectly reporting the temp to the ecu. Any thoughts please guys.
  2. The customers always right. Take the car elsewhere if your not happy with your dealer.
  3. I'd say that was a peach you have there, but the colours wrong. heheh... Seriously though, very nice motor, I hope you have many years of hassle free motoring.
  4. Ouch... Rack £677 Pump £700 Sensor £70 + Labour (£150-200) Damn its an expensive area to repair. Wouldn't be so bad if there was a conclusive way to identify which item is at fault.
  5. PS Pump faulty or Alternator lead (the earth can become corroded apparently) I'm in the same boat as you fella, however I don't have loads of cash to throw at the problem. Need to nail it down first before attempting a fix.
  6. Thanks... Sorry can't do it today, was hoping to arrange a day later in the week to sort it. Thanks again though.
  7. I put a post up in the Fabia section. http://briskoda.net/forums/fabia/vag-com/115690/ In brief. Could someone please connect their VAG COM to my motor, in the hope that it'll tell me what's wrong with my power steering? I'm in the Rhondda and can travel to ... Pontypridd, Cardiff, Barry etc... Thanks guys.
  8. Was wondering if anyone in my area (rhondda, ponty, cardiff) could VAG COM my motor for me (pretty please with sugar on top). I've got the dreaded steering light issue. And from what I've read it could be either:- Steering Angle Sensor Steering Rack Steering Pump Alternator Earth All apart from the Sensor could be very expensive, so am hoping it's just the sensor. ............... On another note. Thanks, and sorry for all the questions.
  9. Bit drastic if you ask me. What's the point of 4 doors if your not going to use them.
  10. Welcome... Very nice set of motors you have there fella.
  11. Short? ... The chain itself or the time needed to change the chain?
  12. 1. No sorry can't help you. 2. Rewriting your post may help as it's very hard to read.
  13. Pop down to your local Halford. They'll be able to advise you what cable you'll need (dependent on the make of Head Unit). I slotted a Blaupunkt into mine (only a cheap one) was a straight fit, no adaptor cable needed. You will need a surround though to fill in the gap a standard head unit leaves in the Fabia's oversized apature. In addition I also had fitted a Signal Booster for the radio (Was about £8) If you've a multimeter and are adept with wires you could do it yourself, but I didn't fancy it myself. The reason for the booser is that the replacement head unit's radio reception was poor by comparison. Works perfectly now.
  14. Ah the old vinyl roof... Used to be a popular option once upon a time. Don't see it much these days though. People tend to go for roof stripes or chequered flags etc these days. Would be interested to see what one looks like on a furby...
  15. Speaking of build quality... I've owned 2 Ranaults in the past and can honestly say I had no problems with them whatsoever. I had a mint 25 which is one of the nicest cars I've ever driven. And at the time a nearly new Clio (mk1) I owned both for several years and had no problems with either. ... Wish I could say the same about my Fabia... ... ...
  16. Not sure how often it needs changing, but my local skoda dealer quoted me almost £20 for one!!
  17. Give Allen & Allen (Quote A Car etc) a ring and tell them your story. They may offer you an introductory no claims bonus. Be warned though, you can't protect that bonus until you've been insured for a year.
  18. Why not ask them at the MOT station what exactly is wrong with your hand-break.
  19. I got mine serviced today... Bought most of the bits from my local Skoda dealer @
  20. Tyre pressures are dependent on the weight of the car. So what ever pressures you used to use for the old tyres should still be used for the new ones.
  21. Mazda 3 Suzuki Swift Honda Jazz Fiat Punto (new shape) All the above can be gotten in Warm (not hot) spec' and are all very reliable and should prove worthy contenders.
