I'd say just a bad bearing. The rear ones I've seen that have failed like yours (with play in the vertical axis) occurred early in their life. I wouldn't be too concerned.

Some tyre trivia: XL tyres require a higher pressure to achieve the same load capacity as a standard tyre. e.g 215/40R17 - standard - 87 load rating. At 32 psi load capacity is 490kg 215/40R17 - XL - 87 load raing. At 32 psi load capacity is 435kg. Requires 36psi to have the same load capacity as a standard. Wouldn't matter with a light car...

Is very tight the first time off. You won't break anything.

We had a unusually very wet last few months here and our Rapid remained dry as usual. Ask the dealership to check. There was a recall for doors not draining...this may be your issue.

No louder than other cars I've owned. The rubber flaps in yours may be sticking.

There is a body vent/valve that pops open under pressure. It is located on the right hand side at the rear .(behind the rear bumper.) https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-volkswagen-audi-parts/trim/3t0819465a/

Wondering if the mirror glass just unclips by force, or is there a clip behind that needs to be released first? Mirror cover removal should then be obvious. Thanks Spiro

+1 I cleaned the 'felt' door seals then applied the Gummi Pflege (Einszett 1Z brand) . Noises gone.

Yes, there is a lot of trim to remove when fitting the tow bar electrics. To remove the wiring you could just push the external harness back into the car body and replace the rubber plug that was originally removed to fit it. (p/n 1K0899185 possibly.) The tool to rewire the tail lights was included in the Skoda kit. I had to code the CAN gateway for the trailer module to function. Cheers

What radio did you have originally? Can you show a picture of connector on the rear of the Swing 2? Cheers

Fitted a Scosche Magic Mount in the Rapid
spiz replied to chrisgreen's topic in Skoda Rapid & Spaceback (2012 > )
Same mount fitted here and in same location. Thanks to Chris for the research. I have not fully adhered the large thin plate to the inside of the phone cover, just sticky taped it on. Makes it easy to transfer between phones or covers when required. -
Bike rack for Spaceback recommendations
spiz replied to liveseytowers's topic in Skoda Rapid & Spaceback (2012 > )
For heavier bikes we are using a Thule Easyfold 931 bike rack which mounts on to the towbar ball. Folded up it fits easily into the luggage area when not in use. Our older Thule bike rack was a non-folding model and was too wide to fit into the luggage area. (We have an odd law where it is an offence to drive with an empty bike rack fitted.) -
Wheels: Big ones? Light ones? What ones?
spiz replied to JonBRapid's topic in Skoda Rapid & Spaceback (2012 > )
Comparing the two sets of wheels we have ( 6Jx15 185/60R15 vs. 7Jx16 215/45R16), 15" wheels: definitely more comfortable. better fuel wise. 16" wheels: look better! Attached is the TUV approved sizes and specs for Rapid. Lighter weight wheels are best for suspension performance. 17" wheels look great but would be hell on the roads around me. -
Towbar for Rapid Spaceback 1.6tdi 2014
spiz replied to RMUrphy1952's topic in Skoda Rapid & Spaceback (2012 > )
That is correct, the reverse sensors do not pick up the ball. What the module does is it disables the reverse sensors when the trailer is plugged in... otherwise the continuing beeping (from detecting the physical presence of the trailer) would be somewhat distracting. I do not recall any dashboard or audible warnings. -

We have the removable type (Skoda oem, which is actually a Bosal unit.) -
Towbar for Rapid Spaceback 1.6tdi 2014
spiz replied to RMUrphy1952's topic in Skoda Rapid & Spaceback (2012 > )
All lights should work normally on the trailer. Rear fog light on the car may be disabled when the trailer is connected.(not sure on that, will have to check next time.) Reverse sensors will be disabled if they are the type that display on the radio. If reverse sensors are the beep only type like ours they keep beeping. :( The beam is yours to keep. (A friend who works at a MB dealer fitting towbars to new cars tells me that they bin lots every month because the customers don't want them.) Cheers -
Towbar for Rapid Spaceback 1.6tdi 2014
spiz replied to RMUrphy1952's topic in Skoda Rapid & Spaceback (2012 > )
We have the genuine towbar & towing module fitted. Like Chris said definitely not a software update. Just a configuration of the vehicle to recognise the tow module. MY16+ Rapids have TSA (Trailer Stability Assist) which is activated when a trailer is plugged in. -
The rims sizes you mention don't have enough offset to match the original et46. + or - 5mm in offset could be acceptable.
