  1. Had the warning before a mega trip to Germany and back. Called Skoda assistance and they sent AA out to investigate who just topped it up with water and all was fine. Level wasn't that far under the minimum level line, but wanted it checked out before our trip. This was on a Saturday at 5pm, so dealer visit wasn't an option. Car had about 7.5k on it at the time, now of 8.8k and no further warning.
  2. If you press and hold the unlock button on the remote, it lowers all the windows... If you hold down lock button, any open window will close. Maybe someone sat on the key when it was in a pocket...?
  3. Long press works. It's great for playing music. I've got a Google Play subscription so can just say 'play Highway to Hell by AC-DC' and off it goes. Can also use for normal voice search type stuff like when you say 'ok google'.
  4. Usually Phone > Inbox allows you to see a list. Does your phone popup with a security authorisation prompt when it pairs? Keep your phone screen on when you next get in the car and see if anything pops up that you need to allow.
  5. For MY16 SE-L and above trim levels, the light extends into the lens in the boot.
  6. A pic would probably help locate it. If you're able to take one...?
  7. Thanks for posting. I'm using 48 too. Will look into changing the fuse position to have a permanent ignition switched live. My plan is to install a Raspberry Pi in place of the dashcam at somepoint so I get GPS overlay and more custom functionality. It will have battery backup, but the current start/stop issue, isn't desirable...
  8. So I tried it yesterday and found the following: Start/Stop engaging will stop the camera. Camera then powers off. Engine starting again won't start the camera Engine stopping again will then start the camera, but a subeseqent Stop won't stop the camera. I'm using a cheap chinese Go-Pro style camera, so not expecting much. It is set to power on/off when it detects power via usb conection. Wondering if there is a better fuse position to use, that will maintain live while the ignition is switched on?
  9. Just wanted to add some more info to this thread. It seems that the Blind Spot position loses power when Start/Stop turns the engine off. On my camera, the loss in power triggers the camera to turn off. I need to investigate if power is restored when the engine restarts, my guess is that it does. I've only noticed it a couple of times now when driving as it's not obvious. The camera takes about 15 seconds to shut down totally so it could be that the power has been restored, but doesn't override the shutdown process. Will post my findings. R.
  10. Same on mine. I put it down to parking in the sun and pushed it back on. Been fine since.
  11. I've got a standard SE L, with Columbus head unit and you can establish a wifi network. You don't need the Premium Wifi option. You can connect the car to a Wifi network in order to stream content (vids, music, pics). I've streamed music from my home network just as a test. Not figured out why or how you'd need to connect the car to the internet, but someone may post.
  12. Yes you can play videos via mirrorlink. You can't turn the screen off on your phone though. I've tried YouTube and NetFlix and they both worked. It does just mirror the phone so in theory, anything works. Even angry birds lol
  13. I am totally the opposite. I actually chose half leather/alcantara as I think it looks better than full leather. Each to their own.
  14. SE L Exec does have autodimming mirror. I also noticed that the side mirrors dim too. Was driving yesterday with the setting sun behind me and all 3 mirrors had a green tinge to them. Look for the fine line around the inside of the side mirrors...
  15. My insurance got loaded a little because it was 'a brand new car, so you won't be experienced driving it and are more likely to make a claim'. Rubbish!! I've got 20 years experience and full not claims! Any change they get...
  16. I use it on the car screen via Android Auto. Traffic data is always current and allows to navigate around the worst of it.
  17. You can import POIs by using this tool. It generates a file that can be used by the Columbus or Amundsen head units. http://mydestination.skoda-auto.com/POIs Not used it myself, but I imagine there will be someone on here who has. You may need to format your data in a particular way though for it to work. UPDATE: Guide here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/246805-guide-to-vw-poi-collections-loader-site/
  18. MirrorLink not really that useful as it turns the screen off when the car is in motion. Apparently you can tweak this by recoding. Carplay and Android Auto leave the screen on while in motion, but only works for a limited number of apps, maps and music mostly. Waze is not currently supported on AA, but it is coming soon.
  19. I used both Columbus and Google Maps (GM), via Android Auto while on France during the summer. Both were fantastic, but we had an emergency where we needed to get to the nearest hospital and I didn't have a signal on my phone so couldn't use GM. It seems that GM will cache the route when you navigate from A>B to get around signal loss. When we were driving out in the sticks, I noticed the phone dropping off the network, but the navigation remained active. The POI categories in the Columbus proved invaluable as they identified a hospital with A&E as opposed to one without. As it happens it was 15 mins away, but we did it a little bit quicker!! ;-) While in the UK I've been using Columbus, but do occasionally use GM when I need to know accurate traffic info. R.
  20. Not a problem. My previous car (Merc) came from a dealer in Preston, I had it serviced at both Stevanage and Hertford dealers. One dealer was better than the other, so I stuck with them for the duration of the lease.
  21. Looks like a good replacement when my Superb(III) goes back. Do hope the screen has bigger options though, I'm rather spoiled by the screen on my SEL Exec. Wouldn't want to go smaller.
  22. I did it yesterday without any issues. Did you go to the update site (http://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/) and put in your VIN or did you just download the zip file from the link? If you go to the site instead, then you get the downloader tool that will correctly extract the files to the SD card once the download is complete. I don't think it's just a case of unzipping them and copying them on, but I could be wrong. I used the VIN method and didn't encounter any problems.
  23. i was worried about the colour having not seen it in the flesh. Only reference I had was the car on the cover of the brochure which looked more light blue than grey. When I saw it on pick-up day I loved it! Just under 4k miles in and it's great. Heading off to France soon for our first long trip and we're all looking forward to it. So much more room that our prev C Class estate. AND more toys!!
