  1. That is EXACTLY why I got the 4drive - I had a tuned Saab 9-3 Aero before that was FWD and had over 300bhp and it struggled to launch and put the power down. My Saab mechanic always told me "you need AWD to put all this on the road" and it ****ed me off that on the traffic light grand prix I was owned by pretty much any a) AWD car or b) light car. When I got the Skoda there was no 4drive Cupra and the old (prefacelift) interior put me a bit off, but... Yet again it was a pain to launch the VRS. The whole axle tramp debacle annoyed the crap out of me, so after a long test drive with the 4drive, I had to have one. Around a track, FWD might be faster but on everyday life (rain and snow included) the extra power and weight at the rear helps immensely - it just is better to live with. If Skoda ever puts out an Octavia with AWD and a sporty package, they will have me back. The Superb is a great car but too big for my taste and not nimble anymore. The Cupra just loves to be thrown around, and drives much, much better than the Skoda when driven on the edge.
  2. I guess you don't have a 4drive then
  3. Whoa... Some nice setups you guys have. I don't know what Seat has done to tweak the sound but it is one of the best I have heard in a car - I read/watched that they employed someone specialized in DSP that measured all the car sound and did some clever processing to fine tune it. It has a minuscule subwoofer inside the spare wheel that sounds amazingly good for the size. Also, I think that cars with the Seat Sound system have some extra audio insulation - it surely is more silent than my Skoda and I spotted, among other things, that the front fenders have some foam inside. For the imaging, you can switch on the headunit the focus to the driver or all and it sounds brilliant. I am seriously fussy about sound quality (I am a musician...) and am totally happy with the way this car sounds. I think their secret is the DSP processing they have going on there. Strange thing is that it is also a MIB2 system, so should not be so different from the Skoda. I think one of the main differences is they use different speakers and speaker sizes (the door speakers are bigger...) ---edit-- Adding a link: https://www.theguardian.com/inside-seat/2016/oct/17/hitting-the-right-note-on-the-road
  4. Didn't know you are a audio buff also ...you have to hear my Seat stock sound when we meet - it sounds pretty decent for a factory system.
  5. Even so, how crappy were those Vectra B xenon's, eh? I had one too and those projectors were so small that barely any light came out of them. ...still better than Vectra B halogens, but bit rubbish
  6. Your car has come a long way - still remember right after you got it you saying you had plans and how it looked stock well done!
  7. Me too... Anyway, my interest is genuine, so you can count me in. ---edit-- @brettikivi do you know about the Finnish forum VAGarena? Maybe you could post there and get more interest. I guess geographic location plays a part in the eagerness to attend, since admittedly it is a good trip from the UK to Finland. Also, although snow driving is fun for everyone under any circumstances, FWD car owners might not be so much into it.
  8. In my case, take it to a hand car wash operated by some Easter Europeans, let then power wash the car with the nozzle 2 inches from the grill and then wipe it dry by hanging on to the badge - it did the trick!
  9. BTW, I host a FB group for my friend car enthusiasts where there are quite a few located in Finland - can I share this there or are you keeping it for Briskodians for now? ...there are not that many people in my FB group either
  10. Testflight used to be one of the tools to distribute test builds within Rovio ...it got superseded by a different tool when Apple bought them.
  11. Don't tell me you are one of these persons who buys gold plated HDMI cables and stuff like that ...in the digital world, it doesn't really matter - it works or doesn't. Say a cable is bad just because it is cheap is a bit too generalistic. i agree there are many lousy cheap cables, but if you shop around you can find cheap and good. ---edit-- BTW, this is the actual cable I am using (the shortest version) with 0 issues: ROCK 90 Degree USB Cable For lightning Cable Fast Charging Data Cables for iphone X 8 7 6 6s 5 5s cable for iphone charger word http://s.aliexpress.com/maIB3ERR?fromSns=Copy to Clipboard
  12. Never at any point did I think the Xtremes made the ride bad
  13. This is the exact picture that made me want the Octavia and the look I was aiming for:
  14. So now they fixed what was one of my annoyances during the Skoda ownership - I felt the car was unbalanced with the 340mm on the front and the 288mm(?) solid on the rear. It tended to nose dive quite a bit under braking hard and the rear tended to come quite light, even though it was lowered on Eibach springs...
  15. Yes, the fronts are the same size and the rears are bigger (and vented) - Camera setup was: OnePlus 6 + GoogleCam app (modded) + Snapseed app for editing (strongly recommend this last one...) --edit-- Googled a bit - the front is 340mm and the rear is 310mm
  16. Back to the crime scene with a different car Like them both, but if I think the Octavia looked good, the Cupra looks even better (IMHO)
  17. Reading this thread makes me feel I made the right choice when I passed on the Cupra with the panoramic roof that I VERY MUCH wanted. ...also, I got mine from a Seat dealer and mentioned leaking panoramic roofs to the seller and he told me "Never get one in Finland; they all leak"
  18. I have read somewhere (could it be in the Seat forum?) that one of the problems might be the door fitting to the car. The solution proposed is weird, but it might work: - Roll the window all the way down - Open the door - Place your knee against the door armrest while standing up - grab with both hands the top frame of the door - GENTLY pull the hands towards you while pushing with the knee and GENTLY bend the top frame This might need a decent amount of force, but what we are looking for is a few mm overall of bend. The principle is that the door will sit more flush with the car and as such, seal better. My old Octavia did that but my current Leon does not - there are other Leons that have the exact same problem as the Octavia. To me, the solution makes sense and might be worth a shot - some guys in the thread said it is a "trick of the trade" and that it is the "official dealer solution" for that problem at Seat
