  1. I actually quite like the Superb also - in the right trim it can be quite a looker but... Nimble it isn't. I currently don't need as much space as I did before and I like a car that I can drive spiritedly on a back road or occasionally throw around a track. The Superb is a "cruiser". And also in the city I found the Leon much easier to live with than the Octavia (and the Octavia is smaller than the Superb) One of my colleagues has a V90 as a company car and quite regrets it, saying it is a PIA to park it anywhere. At some point when my company was in a temporary office, he could not come to work by car because it wouldn't physically fit on the parking slots ...I mean, it would, but he could not open the doors Yesterday I travelled a few kms in the city on the next lane near to a black Superb wagon and it looked damn nice - we were checking each other's car
  2. Barely missed it on mine - a few months older and I would have got it, but then if I did... It means the car would be brand new, which mine almost is
  3. The Leon sold itself to me on the test drive - I tried it for fun and in the end I just had to have one, so I didn't really have a shortlist. As per another thread here, and excluding all the cars mentioned here already, take a look at the Kia Optima GT or even the Stinger. Hmmm... There are not really that many choices out there that tick all these boxes. Really, go drive a Leon and thank us later I looked at a few Golf Rs but they were under equipped when compared to the Leon and... ...I admit I did look at the type R but I would only really have the latest model and there were NONE used in Finland. ...also, I really, really wanted to have AWD, but I guess in a country without snow this might be less important. I drove a couple of brand new AWD BMWs (428 and 335) and although massively fun I really don't think they justify the price tag.
  4. Not offended at all - taste really is a subjective thing and not anybody has the same strokes ...I wouldn't get the Type R, but like a cheap hooker, there is some degree of appeal in it for me I do agree that it is almost impossible to tell a Cupra from a FR - only the rear and badges differ. But I like "sleeper cars" (personal preference...) and get a kick of the surprised looks in some people's faces when they see the Cupra get going.
  5. I am having my Leon windshield (with lane assist...) replaced at the dealer via insurance and they told me they need to recalibrate after.
  6. Whaaaaat!? Take a look at my gallery and dare say this doesn't look nice: Seat Leon ST Cupra 300 4drive https://imgur.com/gallery/02v9a6P ...but yeah, if you are into the Civic Type R, I guess we like different things I like the understated look. But seriously, take the Leon on a test drive - it is the only way to really understand the appeal. 4,9s 0-100kmh is a big seller
  7. Space is obviously bigger on the Octavia - Leon is a bit less spacious and has less storage to just throw things around. The center console storage is way less than on the Skoda. Hmmm... Doesn't have a motorized rear hatch (if you are into that), it is more thirsty (but maybe that is just the way the car invites you to drive it...), it is less "stealth". If space is not an issue for you, I have no reservations to fully recommend. The trunk is not small - it is the Octy trunk that is huge. Rear leg room is OK, but not as much as on the Octavia. On the rear seat you can only realistically take 2 persons. On everyday life, it is a much nicer car to live with - since it is smaller, it is easy to for into places and throw around. The AWD makes a big difference on wet and snow and surely puts a smile on the face. At the risk of besting on a dead horse, I still say the interior quality is every bit as good as the Skoda, if not better. The LED headlights are awesome, but the FL Skoda also has them. I am happy and have 0 regrets - I know two other Skoda Octavia VRS buddies that also drove my car and both were equally impressed, with one of them exiting the car to sit on the computer looking up Leon prices If you test drive one, you will be hooked - don't say I did not warn you! Tl;Dr: puts a smile on my face every time I drive it, even a few months into the ownership now.
  8. What issue? I have a Android personal phone and a iPhone work phone that I don't much use in the car, but when I tried it seemed to work fine?
  9. So, these are Continental SportContact 5 in 235/35/19 size - checkout the size of that rim protection: It must be that there are different variations of this tyre, some with and some without rim protection. This one is particularly huge - there is over one finger width of lip there.
  10. Wait... Your Octavia has been remapped!?? Shut the front door!!! Tell us all about it, go on...
  11. Hmmm hmmm... I looked carefully at @ahenners pic now and I am gonna say the issue is with Skoda rim designs. I am going to post later a pic of the same tire on the Seat rims and you will see how much more protection there is. Granted that the size I have is 235/35/19 and usual Skoda size is 225/35/19, which might explain some, but not all the difference. --edit-- Just zoom in on this picture and see what I mean:
  12. There is something wrong with your statement there I have the Contis and they have a HUGE lip protector. I am gonna guess there are different variations of these tires, since I had them also on the Saab and I don't recall so big rim protection. I will try to make a photo and post later.
  13. After Android Auto 3.x loads of apps are having problems - Google made some changes that blocked the functioning and access of most apps except audio streaming ones :( ...if you really want that particular app, you can always maybe try to downgrade Android Auto to and older version on the phone?
  14. I stand corrected - either way, I just provided you with some place to start looking if you want this done on the Octavia
  15. And this is their site - maybe contact them and check if they would make a Octavia version? http://www.dynablink.de/
  16. The ones you see in the Golf are retrofit by a 3rd party. I cannot immediately remember the manufacturer, but they have them for Golf and for Seat Leon. Unfortunately, no love for Skoda... I will put the link later if I remember who made them... --- edit --- Here you go - maybe someone can adapt to fit Skoda: https://youtu.be/geBKstcwY0E
  17. From my investigation and some discrete attempt to fix the issue by the dealership guy without me noticing what he was doing, I would take a look at the corner of the door, near to where the hood meets the mirror, right where the seal starts. It seems it gets bent there and lets air inside the door. It is a design flaw, so any new seal will do the same after a while.
  18. Mine did the same - quite badly. Seals were replaced and made no change, so I guess it is a "feature" ...my new Seat Leon also does it, but very, very faintly - for the most part it is silent. Weirdly enough, this also seems to be an intermittent fault on both cars.
  19. Since we are on the topic of paddle extensions, beware of this: On the Cupra forums (or was if Golf...) there was someone who fitted paddle extensions and then proceeded to rip out the shifting mechanism one time he got out of the car and the steering wheel was not straight - his pants hooked the paddle and the whole paddle assembly (the original) ripped out of the wheel. It was very expensive to fix and replace, so... Not saying this is something that might happen to you guys, but definitely something you should be aware of. I have also been toying with the idea of these - when I got the car I thought it would be OK, but I now find that when cornering fast I have problems to hold the wheel correctly and still reach for the paddle accurately. Need go check what to get and if the Cupra has Golf Mk6 or Golf Mk7 paddles
  20. Only dealer can provide you a code, since it is specific to the car. No one else can activate SWaP features.
  21. The only thing I take from your post a that the BMW series 1 LEDs are crap
  22. I cannot compare the xenon with FL-LED, but the xenon with AFS I had on my Octavia doesn't stand up to the LEDs I have on the Leon - although I have the 2nd gen LEDs, which are apparently much better than the gen1. They are way brighter (long lights included) than the Skoda Xenon, and although they don't do AFS, the light spread is REALLY wide, so they kinda defeat the purpose of doing the cornering. In a nutshell, although I was very happy with the Octavia Xenon, I am happier with the Leon LED. Take into account this is a new technology and not all LED headlights are the same - it is constantly advancing, so... Compare LEDs from the same generation. Also, putting a LED bulb on a halogen reflector/projector is NOT the same thing as the proper LED headlights, which are a matrix of smaller but very bright LEDs, which is why the spread is bigger.
  23. BTW, on the Cupra forums they are mentioning that cars with this option are currently being prevented from being delivered. It seems the wireless box interferes with some protected frequencies in the UK and they have to disable the signal amplifier.
  24. I will just drop this here... https://imgur.com/gallery/02v9a6P Weather was nice today, so I got the Cupra washed.
  25. Each to their own, but my OCD would kill me ...I have seen the Octavia version on @Petunet car and it looks pretty nice and well integrated.
