  1. I do motorways only in my 1.6tdi. But I never look at the MPG dash as it keeps telling me I do these incredible figures. I use mpg calculator online to see what I've actually been doing.
  2. funny reading my rant issue list from a while back. My latest cranckshaft bolt snapped a while back. Currently running it into the ground, not even fixing issues anymore.
  3. that's 100 miles with reserve. Sounds about right?
  4. I had a similar situation once, a VCDS scan revealed something to do with a fuel level sender sensor or something like that. I think the whole thing is a unit, pump, sender etc. I might be wrong. I cleared the codes and never came back again, but I do notice that I do about 350mi all the way to the half marking, then about 50 from there to reserve warning. To answer your question, possibly yes. the warning might be triggered by the indicator reaching the mark. All to do with the sender.
  5. Hey people, I'm looking for some car advice. Currently, in our household we have 3 cars. Small family, 2 parents, 1 child and a large dog. Current cars: - 2013 Fabia 1.6 tdi hatchback used just for motorways only but not used very much. - 2007 Roomster 1.6 stock entry level trim no roof rail no tow bar. Use it to run around in town and take my dog places, he doesn't like the fabia at all because it's not big enough. - mx5 (untouchable) When we go on staycations we have to take the roomster and cram everything in a passenger seat. Thing is, the roomster is noisy inside, no cruise control no armrest but it has been very reliable on the road. In an ideal world I'd want to get rid of the fabia and roomster and replace it with 1 car that does it all. I would love a hybrid van people carrier because we also have push bikes, some ebikes so heavy. Hybrid vans a super expensive and limited choices. SUVs are big and not as spacious as they look. I am also willing to have a very small car like an Up or Citigo or something small like that and something big I use for traveling with all of the family, take our stuff and the dog, but also short journeys where I take my dog and bikes around. One thing I won't compromise on is owning another diesel engine again. I had enough of them and not fit for my purpose, can't deal with clogged up DPFs, stuck EGRs injectors just because I didn't go on a 20 miles drive. Budget £10 000 or maybe finance. Impartial to any brand. Any ideas? Thanks Bertie
  6. I know, I was going to but they take a long time to arrive. Thanks for your help
  7. Yeah so 036906262AA it's the one I need. I have the 5 speed manual. part number on this listing is identical https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/352591405720?hash=item521815e298%3Ag%3AgqoAAOSwsTtbklKI&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4P7h5yjYn2pbFmaolrgMPHzNJofgZYTjdCNEs2k%2F2hFoWLTi7ekuMoKEdxIr6OuICmE%2BsYAvBa4sHecftJuVupGuupmszSm1zUhwl5vZY%2F0lX1lbpC2Z38IwWaQhbVCITn9ir7AG3ZJyo%2BSM05KFKSbibjuHk8LwRD2AQa%2BN4L6ewww8Azt47J8Gea0mYFDvf9YXs9lKqEfFMtxbtx3Uw9qwCeXSuP09pqLKDYbFHQi9KiS%2F0merxh3CkEycUb6ZBv6icADTXfwi9IwEzoolhwPvOxEJW077lJHNC0Il0Kg7|tkp%3ABk9SR-DO48HQYQ&LH_ItemCondition=3#vi-desc-maincntr would this fit the roomster?
  8. does it make a difference if the part number is the same but it shows compatibility with VW or Audi different engine sizes but not Skoda? Like wire lenght etc
  9. For God Sake! Why do they have to have 2 part numbers? Skoda Roomster 1.6 Petrol BTS engine code 2007 Registered 12 12 2007 Which one of these is the right part number please?
  10. Hello Has anyone bought an universal roof rack for these cars? I don't have the OEM rails, I was looking at the ones you can clamp on the side like in the picture. Can you please make some recommendations?
  11. I have a Fabia and a roomster and both have the same noise over speed bumps when it's cold. Its the ARB bushes, even when new they still squeek. Never seen anything like this in any other cars apart from VAG. Spray some silicone lube over them and you'll see it will go away for a day or two. do it in stages to trace the sound.
  12. stupid question, do the positions change, windscreen, footwell etc ? I'm thinking possibly the unit itself not working. I have a spare one.
  13. top side needs to be taken out, air box, battery etc , driveshafts out, gerbox out. Now it's entirely up to you to do the rear main as well but you need one of these + the oil pan needs to come off in order to apply the sealer on the flange. Stupid design.
  14. I think the thermostat lives between where the battery and the engine is next to the throttle body. Fuel pump is on the belt side.
  15. they remove the subframe to get to it, plus realignment etc. The part is about £800.
  16. Plus you need to crawl under and check the flap, it's a very tricky job an garages don't do that. Only if you're DIYing
  17. Found my fix, I had ordered the wrong part. Mine finishes with an A, considering I have ordered it from Skoda, I am surprised they didn't give me options or double checked.
  18. that's why it's our 3rd car, most of it's life it has done just motorways. Never done a short journey, we have our workhorse for that which is a 1.6 petrol roomster and frankly it's a lot more reliable with the same hp.
  19. I fell out of love with this car. It had a lot of issues over the years and I regret not selling it when I had the chance. I spent £1300 in unnecessary parts recently on it trying to workout a stupid issue. I'm putting up for sale after sorting out the injector seals. Rant over. Good luck with yours 👍
  20. You need to drop the subframe to pull the DPF out as it's a one piece with the CAT. I don't know if you can access the EGR without dropping the frame, I believe you can but it's very tight. Also, the spray thing, I think those are made for the old EGR types where it was located near the intake, with our models I doubt any spray will ever enter the egr as it needs to do a massive loop before it ever touches that valve. You'll endup spraying the turbo, intercooler, intakes manifold etc, I don't even think anything will ever reach the EGR
  21. I'm there with you on the cheaper fix as I've bought products like that out of desperation. I don't know much about the impacts of no egr with dpf in place. Many threads been down that rabbit hole already, I'm not prepared to start that topic again.
  22. It's an egr problem, the only solution is to replace it, no cleaner would sort that out. The major problem with the egr is the opening mechanism where it wears out and jams + the soot buildup but it's likely to be the mechanism. You can add a DPF cleaner for your DPF but it's temporary as well as the ash will not burn, it's more for the soot. Again the only solution is to clean it or replace it. I've cleaned my dpf by taking it off and taking it to a dpf cleaner place where they pumped chemicals through it. From the top it looks like new but I'm yet to test the difference. £200 that cost me. I would recommend taking it to a garage and have the egr replaced if you can't do that yourself. One last solution which I haven't tried and am skeptical about is this egr emulator which people have used on here and advise their issues have gone away. It's about £100 from eBay and it's plug and play.
  23. Hi folks 1.6 tdi I changed all 4 rubber seals at the top of the injectors on the rocker cover and I have oil coming out all of them. At first the seals were soft then they have hardened up as if made of plastic. I thought I have bought some daft ones (febi bilstein)and went ahead and bought OEM from Skoda. Same issue. Oil keeps coming out. They don't seem to click in or anything, I just placing them there and that's it. Torque the injector bolt and nothing else. What am I doing wrong?
