  1. I have just received a call from the extremely helpful Kate at Skoda UK who tells me we haven't been forgotten and that the investigation is ongoing and I will get a follow up call on Thursday. The investigation is not just into the dealings of NCD but other brokers too, I hope by opening what looks like a hornets nest doesn't result in further cancelled orders! Kate also commented that since my communication other prospective buyers have been in contact with their cancellation issue. More to follow.
  2. Autoglyms stuff is good enough and if you are working by hand the SRP is a sound choice, it contains fillers too that go a little way to masking any swirls. The glossier you want it the "the flatter" it will need to be and that means a few hours of hard work. For something quick nd easy then try Sonax BSD after your wash, spray on wipe off, leaves a good gloss and protection.
  3. Debadging isn't just about the cosmetic look, badges are crud magnets and trying to polish around them is a pain especially for those that like to machine polish when taping them up becomes neccessary. It's for that reason I debadge everything. When my newly ordered L and K Superb arrives that will be one of the first jobs especially the L and K logo on the wings which I do not like at all.
  4. Do you truly mean polish? I.E. an abrasive product to remove swirls scratches etc or do you want something to protect your paint like a polish or a sealant? I'd guess the latter and there is such a wide variety of products on the market but sometimes the older products are still among the best and this includes Finish Kare 1000p or FK1000p as we know it. Comes in a tin and is described as a paste wax but is infact a sealant, easy to apply and buff off, great on light colours, can be layered almost immediately and gives several months of protection and leaves a nice glossy finish. Do you "clay" your paintwork? If not treat yourself to a Farecla G3 Body Prep Clay Mitt available for £12 in Halfords, this can give you a dramatic improvement to your paintwork.
  5. Have you tried this forum's reccomended Dennis Horton in Lincoln?
  6. After the debacle with NCD it's come as a pleasant surprise that I've been able to order a car direct with my local dealership with a price that isn't that far away from the brokers. Deal struck this morning. 2.0l 220PS DSG L & K Estate Moon white with brown leather (must have changed my mind half a dozen times deciding between moon and candy white) 19" Anthracite Phoenix Pan roof Spare wheel Smart light assist. Been told it will arrive in August, I'll believe that when I see it going by other lead times I've read on here.
  7. Yes the same. Like I said, the lady dealing with my email (Kate) was away yesterday, hopefully you'll get a response Monday. She requested the NCD order form so make sure you keep yours safe. I urge all other affected members to do likewise, might be more productive than just sticking two fingers up at Skoda.
  8. Don't give up. I sent an email Wednesday to Duncan Movvagashi, I had an automated response within two hours with a follow up phone call the followining morning from a lady in his department. She told me this was going to be investigated, she was not going to be in Friday so would get back to me next week. Which email address did you use?
  9. I was playing it cool, maybe a little too cool didn't take me seriously perhaps.
  10. Thank you for that. Looks as though we are looking for a similar car, my choice is the same as you mention when getting a quote from UK car Discount. I too made an enquiry with CarFile and got a call the following day from Bellamy working out of a dealer near Nottingham, a good quote, I asked him to email or text me details of his outfit so I could check them out, he didn't get back to me. Today I have found a dealer that will match these broker discounts, I will offer my local dealer the opportunity to match the quote, the order should be placed Monday with one or the other. Good luck with your purchase. It goes to show that with a bit of research, reasonable discounts can be found without using a broker and something else I've been reminded of is the fact cars are dearer in the Southeast compared to the Midlands and further North. Many moons ago when I was a Ford man I use to travel from London to a dealer near Leicester that always offered prices I couldn't match in and around London.
  11. On a seperate note has anybody firsthand experience with CarFile? So far I have discovered they hand your enquiry over to the dealer ( a dealership in Nottingham area), the discount is very good and interestingly they also discount the options, not something I've come across so far elsewhere.
  12. Cannot agree with that more, it's what we all want I guess . But to use a social media platform for the world to see is a different matter. Just think for a moment of the possible ramifications that might arise from this episode, dealership found guilty of transgressing manufacturer rules and regs? Having worked in a main line dealership I know for a fact that the punishments are serious, huge fines can be imposed and even worse, the loss of franchise, I've seen it happen, jobs lost, large financial losses incurred, it's a very serious business with all sorts of legal issues.
  13. I cannot imagine for one moment they will make such a revelation on social media. Not at the moment anyway.
  14. At the moment we are lacking facts, all we know for a fact is many purchasers have had their agreement cancelled. If by getting Skoda involved as I am currently attempting perhaps we may get the other side of the story. I very much doubt we would get any further with NCD, that has become quite obvious. Cannot imagine the media would show any interest at this stage, with a bit more of the whole sorry saga explained with a few more "facts" to hand, then it might be a different matter. The auto industry has never enjoyed a glowing reputation and in light of recent revelations, admissions etc concerning emissions the pr within the industry is at its lowest ebb with a dwindling customer confidence. News of this debacle does deserve explanations, admissions, apologies and dare I wish......action for those that have suffered loss. Unlikely but if there is enough pressure applied in the right quarters, who knows, we may get a welcome surprise.
  15. Out of curiosity, where on NCDs website will I find that message? Just looked and cannot find it.Scrub that just found it!
  16. Yeah I appreciate and understand that, sadly the same for a few others too I guess. I'm just trying to understand what exactly has happened, it just doesn't sit well with me that to date it's only NCD orders that have been cancelled...........unless we learn differently in the days ahead.
  17. I can only report back what I was told. Do you have hard evidence that it was Skoda UK that "initiated" the cancellation of orders? I have only read from NCDs response that this is the doing of SUK, I'd like to hear it from the source. It is also strange to me that to date I (we on the forum) have yet to hear of any other cancellations from various other well used brokers.
  18. After sending a detailed email to the MD of Skoda UK I received yesterday a phone call from his office. There seemed genuine concern about these recent cancelled orders and a full investigation is under way and I have been promised a call next week.
  19. Goes for any major purchase with a lead time, my refund was prompt as I guess everyone else's has been too. What comment do you expect the moderators to make?
  20. I suspect none of us will ever know the facts of this debacle but I think your thoughts are most likely spot on. This afternoon with nothing better to do I composed a lengthy email which also contained the responses from NCD and sent them to the Skoda UK Managing Director...... Duncan Movaggashi, to my surprise a reply came within a couple of hours, the email had been forwarded on to CS, however it came as no surprise that it was an automated response asking me for my personal contact details, chassis number of my car and the dealership I bought the car from. Not bad seeing I had only ordered the car a week ago from NCD! Still, at least the email went to the right place initially and was most probably read by his PA. I've also spoken to couple of brokers today who still say it's business as usual and know nothing of this issue, will be interesting to see if that remains the case.
  21. UncleWang also told me via pm and on the board also that this was going to be a weekend car, his response to the cancelltion? .........Continue to drive his old Beetle and save himself £29k. A few posts later he has now ordered another new car...........work it out for yourself.
  22. NCD have adjusted their website yet again today. There are now just two Skoda models in the drop down menu, the Fabia and Octovia.
  23. One thing hasn't changed......the car, which for me ticks every box and is without rivals amd let's face it, even at full rrp still represents good value imo. All my working career has been associated with the motor industry one way or another and the last five years working directly within a large dealership group, if you took every negative to heart from every manufacturer you'd tear up your licence and get the bus and never buy a car again. Skoda are no better or worse than other marques and its their perogative to attempt to outlaw big discounts if they so wish., haven't got a problem with that, it's just very unfortunate a few of us got shafted during a purchase that should have been put right and honoured but in this day and age where the P&L is the only thing that matters it just ain't going to happen. So, yes I will still buy a Superb, the question is where?
  24. The expected email has just landed and my order too has been cancelled. The email is worded differently to those previous......... Good Afternoon Unfortunatley we ve had some very bad news about our Skoda Superb car supply , with immediate effect any vehicles due for delivery or pipeline orders have been cancelled . As a priority we have this morning sent you a £500 refund back which was your initial card deposit , this will appear back on the same debit or credit card we took it from originally . We believe the issue to of caused by several reasons but over discounting a prime product and our Skoda dealer selling to various brokers to dramatically undercut other Skoda dealer prices are key factors . We have asked if we can pay a higher price for the vehicles incase that was a possibility but in short Skoda want none of the Superbs ordered through this route to now gain a vehicle . In their opinion anyone not buying direct from a Skoda dealer and paying the showroom price isn’t a customer . The vehicles will now used as demo cars and then eventually be sold off at a later date , this keeps Skoda in control of each cars destiny rather than giving it the dealer to resell We just wish we could change the situation but as you’ve gathered we have no control . We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused There isn’t a good way of delivering irreversible bad news Regards Nick Ainley www.new-car-discount.com
