  1. oh and its chain driven if its a 1.6 petrol 77Kw MPI The engine code would be BTS
  2. I agree..........................NO OIL ANYWHERE ON THIS PLANET is good for life............
  3. changed 3 sets on my Mk1 RS, not done my Mk2 yet but its only done 40k Its a common problem and if on 125k with originals, I would guess they are fubar to be honest. Personally I would avoid poly bushes, the fabia suspension is quite harsh anyway and poly bushes will make it worse.
  4. I would agree, Just ground it, no need to cut into / disturb handbrake wiring imo
  5. If its a factory xenon lamp, then surely a projector halogen lamp holder is not going to fit ? plus the reflectors are different as they are not designed to work with each other / vice versa........one of the reasons that aftermarket HID kits are not road legal.
  6. Engine oil optimum temp range is 230- 250° F which is 110 - 120° C
  7. Ah ok, did not realise this was on petrol versions apart from the RS. Because of your daytime temperatures, the engine is always going to run hotter than they would do in Europe or here in GB for example.
  8. How are you reading the oil temperature ?
  9. I would assume it needs 12v from the switch, as when the handbrake switch lights the brake warning light on the dash. Does it not say whether to ground or not ? I am assuimng it has a TV or DVD function or both so its using this to ensure the car is parked before operating those functions. Is there a wiring diagram for it, or only what you have posted ? if it is, not very useful, so can only assume by the names of the items its a chinese unit of some description. What year / model fabia is it ?# EDIT EDIT Just looked at wiring, the brown / green trace is the ground from the switch, the Blue / Black trace is from dash panel warning light to the switch, so the dash supplies the power, the switch grounds the connection to complete the circuit.
  10. Fuse 49 is for turn signals only, so not sure which your pulling. I would not recommend driving without brake lights.
  11. This is the Mk2 forum, but I had a Mk1 and had one of these ... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-MEXN4200BT-Radio-Dual-Bluetooth/dp/B01N6KKI3S/ref=asc_df_B01N6KKI3S/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310068305035&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1705381665542162819&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046422&hvtargid=pla-299159744348&psc=1
  12. What warning light is on ? Start the car, then try messing with the indicators and turning lock to lock so the colum cancels the switch, it "may" just be a stuck stalk switch. Do the hazards work ok ?
  13. The models would be the same as over here, may have different trim levels / names, but DAB is often an option, especially on the older cars. The link I posted is £65, not much money and saves all the messing around looking for one, postage and cost to buy or fuel to go get a used one, will work out the same "Imo". They ship world wide as well. Do you have something against a new one ?
  14. factory option on most models, dont see why you could not have specified them on an RS......... and the strange thing is, this RS had them on at a motor show........I think they look good and provide some protection to single mums and kids who swing doors open in supermarket car parks !!
  15. If you bought it from a garage, take it back to get them to fix it. Also, add your location to your profile, there maybe someone "near" you with VCDS who can scan the car for you and let you know.
  16. Aircon systems are protected often by a dual pressure switch, to high - no worky......to low (leak) - no worky...ie compressor will not engage system will not function kwik fit will recharge your aircon and if it does not lower the temp there is no fee. On the flip side if you get it done and it stops again in a while, then you know you have a leak and it would need a dye adding and / or pressure testing with Nitrogen unless the leak is obvious, after a recharge a good leak is often able to be heard or seen by pipe joints etc, if you can hear it then its a start of where to begin to fix it. What will probably happen is you get it charged then about a week or maybe a little longer it will stop again due to a leak "somewhere. Fxing aircon leaks can be troublesome, BUT "imo" to even start fault finding you need to attempt to fully vac / charge the system first.
  17. Its possible the DPF code has "cleared" and not returned, cannot possibly ever know that, especially without a re-scan. As I said, the car needs scanning again, there WILL be a fault stored, its your car, your fault code and your paying to find out what it is, so if you take it for a re-scan, ask for either a print out (if possible) or a screenshot, or let you photgraph it etc etc. The point being, they could tell you anything, but the scan tool cannot lie, if they wont oblige then I would inclinded to go elsewhere. No point in worrying about whether its the sensor or DPF etc, get it scanned and find out what it says, and I cannot stress enough "word of mouth" from the mechanic is unhelpful here.
  18. Im talking from experience with other car makes, I would assume VAG is the same. It cannot perform a regeneration if the system is not fully functional, a faulty pressure sensor would "imo" disable the system. What was the code for the pressure sensor fault ? was it / could it be cleared, has it been re-scanned since ? The glow plug light is also a "fault" light, there will be a code stored for that, so it needs scanning again and if you need "help" here, "we" need the exact fault code / text to assist, even a photo of the scanner tool screen would suffice. Its all well and good clearing codes and hoping for the best if you have your own diagnostic tool, if you don't ......then does not really help as you have to go back and forth and potentially spend more money.
  19. need to have the fault codes read. The only way to clear a DPF is when it regenerates itself, this is done automatically by the car, or initiated by a diagnostic tool (not generic ones I may add proper VAG ones) If there is a fault with the DPF pressure sensor, it will disable the regeneration, so giving it a size 2000 "boot" will make no difference. It needs the diagnostic codes read and the fault fixed "before" anything else.
  20. If your on about the exterior protection strips, they are just held on with strong 3M trim tape......Im considering fitting them !!...
  21. you can do it if it has cornering headlights (not sure if was option in Monte) , if not the only way is the stick on deflectors im afraid
  22. No I don't have children, but if I did and lived by a major road and felt that pollution was an issue / concern, I would probably do my upmost to relocate. I don't feel its for others to bother their backside, I was merley making a point that the rest of the developing world needs to do the same, we are a very small fish in a big sea, the enviromentalists will bang on about it all day at us, but thats mostly to do with the fact we are developed and can afford to change things "ish". "we" are now destroying / mining see beds for cobalt for batteries because electric is the way to go.........................😣 I work within the transport industry, and as an example using Euro 5/6 spec HGV's (burning diesel at 5 mpg) which soon will have to meet even more stringent measures to go into Sadiq Khans land and other major cities have to be replaced by operators so they can do their job...........granted big well run compaines can afford this, but there is many that cant. Anyway I digress a little.............What do you think happens to all the old trucks that are not considered clean enough for this country.............hold on, we ship them to Africa because they don't care (and neither do we) ....... So on one hand we try to combat the issue, on the other we pass it onto someone else.............out of sight out of mind. We could discuss this all night long and we still wont have an answer.
  23. I "agree" on the pollution side.................however, us in little britian will make no difference to global pollution when the likes of china are billowing out tonnes of it every year and have no real urgence to improve it.
  24. Always do in ANY car which has a button................but if you leave on, then............ what is marvelous about it ? The fact it wears out the starter prematurely, or the fact everytime you switch off your engine the oil drains down, then restarts and thats when all the wear happens, or is it the fact the battery gets a beating as well.
  25. erm......... being a diesel it sounds like its suffering diesel runaway.................its running on its own fumes / oil, this is often caused by oil leaks into the intake system, sometimes from turbo or intercooler / breather system If its not fixed, it will runaway and continue until it goes bang and often you wont be able to stop it.
