  1. Mines done this, intermittently, and then started affecting the running of the car. Cylinder 1 spark plug had burned its tip off. Replaced that and the smoke has vanished. Still not figured out exactly why as it's not repeated the issue yet, but hoping it was just an old spark plug that couldn't cope with a remap.
  2. I'd forgotten I'd read that thread before, must be a six monthly thing me wanting to change it 😂 Aye four tips doesnt look as good as I thought. Might be worth getting custom tips exactly like the ones one the car, but actually connected. Again, a lot of money for something not that important, but the fake tips really annoy me.
  3. Sounds like a lot of work for just more fake tips 😂 was hoping I'd be able to get connected four tips, but I think my only option for that would be a custom exhaust? Cheers for your advice btw 👍 saved me a lot of bother finding this out before I bought the part.
  4. If the noise is affected by depressing the clutch, then theres not much else it could be.
  5. Just the look at the back, I'm not a fan of the standard "tips" and think the Golf R looks a bit smarter. Theres just a back box section available for much cheapness and wondered if it would fit, as I might just buy it to see how it looks, and sell it on if its horrible looking. Doesnt say whether its hatchback or estate though, mind you.
  6. Just a quick question. Does anyone know if a mk7 Golf R rear exhaust section would fit a Mk3 VRS Tsi?
  7. I get the impression it's more likely to be a pipe/similar left off rather than a timing issue.
  8. Same for me. Feels like these days people tend to overthink faults like these. It all points to the left sensor.
  9. I still cant believe theres anything wrong. Any fault with the fitting of the fuel filter would cause issues with the running of the car.
  10. Can be hard to see, but you usually see a crack starting to form on the shoulder of the tyre, depends how far along it is. Eventually itll blister. An experienced tyre garage should be able to tell without removing the tyre, I'd have thought. Since you've ruled out the gearbox, I'm not sure what else it could be. Theres not much else apart from the wheel bearing and tyres that'll be rotating enough to make a noise loud enough to my mind.
  11. A wheel bearing generally gets louder as you speed up, rather than disappearing. Tyres can make that noise when they're starting to break apart, which would probably need the tyre removed to check. They can "transfer" the sound too so youd be better even just putting the spare on the one that's not been changed yet just to completely rule that out. Only other thing at the front left would be the gearbox, but theres pretty much zero chance of it making the noise. Sure you can trst that by getting the noise to start, and dropping into neutral and coasting, if the noise remains it's not the box. You should only do that if you're a confident driver, and theres no traffic around you though.
  12. Sounds like it would be worth changing the left sensor. Right sensor implausible signal is due to not matching up with the right, and the TPMS works off the abs sensors.
  13. Think it's possible to just buy a plate and transfer it over?
  14. He reckons this looks fairly close to it?
  15. Cheers, I think a scrap yard is his best bet tbh.
  16. cheers, hes needing the whole set up, including the rod, does that usually come with the unit?
  17. Hi, long time no see, but my uncles old Mk1 Laurent & Klement Octavia requires a headlamp levelling sensor, and they seem completely impossible to find. It's a 52 plate. I think part number 4B0907503A would work, but I was hoping someone on here would be able to recommend what part number, and where to buy one, is best. Cheers
  18. It had been missing slightly at idle for a good few months now, but was fine under load, apart from the EPC light. Now it idles so well you cant be sure it's actually running, and cant get the EPC light back. So I'm praying it's fine, might take the plug back out in 1k miles and see how it looks.
  19. No signs of leakage, underneath, but theres oil residue around the rocker cover. Cylinder 1 spark plug the only one that looked like that. Regularly put a measured amount in and reset the trip to see how long it lasts, havent found it getting any worse, yet, so reluctant to have the engine stripped. It's a 63 with 70k miles so cant see Skoda UK paying anything if that's a route I go down.
  20. Can go from Max to Min in a couple of months/2-3000 miles. Just something I've got used to now, been like that ever since I bought it 16 months ago, wish I'd known at the time of purchase tbh. I would say that it felt more like petrol on the plug when I ran my finger on it though.
  21. Id just wait and see if it happens again, I've had multiple nights I'm convinced people are flashing me but theres never been anything wrong.
  22. Double check, my DRLs go out of phase with the indicators too but dim when the headlights come on.
  23. Spot the difference.... Cylinder 1 so assume it's been like that a while, so hopefully means any potential damage it could cause would've happened by now. Although my journeyman says it, used to be, common for some cars to burn away bits like that, rather than it cracking off. Car runs fine and no funny noises so far, so doesnt look like any internal damage. Number 4 coil flat out refuses to come out, though, so its not changed yet.
  24. Its more likely that either you, or the other drivers, are hitting potholes etc. and it's making it look like you're flashing them/they're flashing you, than your DRL being so bright it blinds them, in my opinion. I go down a rough road on my way to work and in the winter youd be convinced every car around you is flashing each other due to the potholes.
  25. Never got around to swapping things over, and today it decided to start misfiring at idle on cylinder 1, a permanent code. Swapped injector over and fault remained at 1. Swapped coil over with cylinder 2 and fault has vanished completely Is there a recommended spark plug for mapped 220, or will replacement stock ones still be fine?
