  1. The only time my system has failed is when there has been snow/ice on the cover in the front grille - I get a message saying that the system is unavailable. I can't answer your questions, but if there is no damage I can't see how this isn't covered by a warranty. I would speak to the local trading standards and ask them to get involved.
  2. Interesting, I never knew that. However, I took out gap insurance (not from Skoda) so if someone takes mine at some point, be happy with a new replacement!
  3. That was my guess. I have KESSY. Be interested to see if that was the case - if indeed the method is known.
  4. I take it you have no idea how they managed to steal it??
  5. Got my S3 at the end of 2016 with a 5 year warranty so will be waiting for the S4 superb (as long as they don't mess it up!) - guess it will be around in a few years time. I spent a long time looking at other cars before deciding on the S3, nothing really came that close to the mix of space, equipment and price.
  6. It was £449 including the OBD cable and a Micro sd card. Is expensive but the picture quality was better than any other I have seen (have a Street Guardian on another car which is good but doesn't compare to this). It also has a 162 degree wide angle view, most others have 140 or less. The parking mode was a good selling point. It detects through the OBD connection whether the car is running or not and automatically goes into parking mode (for front and rear cameras) until the battery drops to a set voltage, 12.2 or 12.3 I think - they said they have set the cut-off level quite high to ensure no battery issues but the cameras use less power in parking mode so they should last a while. The ODB connector also has a switch on it if for some reason you want to turn the system off without unplugging it.
  7. Bought the new Blackvue at the weekend after seeing a demo of it by Blackvue at the London Motorshow at Excel. The DR900s model came as a dual camera (there is single camera option also) with 4k UHD for front facing camera and Full HD for rear facing. Quality of image when viewed back even on a large TV is very good. Also, the ability to not have to hard wire it but to plug into OBD port which then gives automatic traffic mode seemed a good feature. It is pricey but they were discounting it and including the OBD cable for free.
  8. Get some Gtechniq C5, not cheap and won't stop the dust but makes the wheels much easier to clean. I only apply it once a year.
  9. My 190dsg was very poor in the snow we had this year, probably worst car I have had although the front tyres are not winter tyres and they have covered 20,000miles so are down to about 3/4mm. I considered buying the 4wd version of the car when ordering mine, what stopped me was the higher price, higher road tax and less mpg. If I was buying it again I might go for the 4wd as the car can tend to scrabble the front wheels when trying to pull away quickly in the wet.
  10. I tend to use it when in traffic jams which may sound strange - this is when they are steadily moving at walking pace sort of speed - it makes the car stay in first for longer and avoids most of the clutch slipping that you get when the car drives to drive at 5mph in 2nd.
  11. Surely there must be a way they could disable it/cut power to it without having to remove it? If they do end up removing it then they definitely need to refund the cost of this option plus compensation. If this is widespread I guess they will have worked out what they are willing to do.
  12. This is a problem with diamond cut wheels, as said above the laquer is too thin to adequately protect the wheels but I would press SUK. My previous car (a Honda) had diamond cut wheels and they started to get the marks you are describing at about 3 years old. I didn't raise this with Honda for another 6 months (at the next service) by which time the car was well out of warranty but they offered to replace all four wheels at a significantly reduced price - £150 for the lot. Wheels where actually £220 each to buy. Given you car is much newer and shows no signs of damage I would expect them to be replaced for free or they should pay for the refurb. I won;t be getting another car with diamond cut wheels - great in the showroom not not for everyday use.
  13. I have seen the range on my 190DSG up to 840 miles - just after refuelling when on a steady drive but you will never actually get that, partially because you don;t run the tank till empty. Most I have got from a tank is about 630 miles, filled up when just in red.
  14. Hi, thanks for the comments. My balloon payment is just over £10,500 so if I am not making any monthly payments from month 42 to month 60 I m effectively saving £5,750 over that period so by my maths I should be better off waiting until the guarantee runs out at month 60 as I can;t see the car losing £5,750 over that 18 month period as that would mean that the cars value would reduce by 50% - which i can;t see that happening between months 42 & 60. Think this makes sense but as I said what I do will depend on what I am offered at month 42. Are most people on PCP planning to give their car back at the end of the PCP period?
  15. Hi, my plan is to buy the car at the end of the 42 months and I have set aside the money for this, probably to then keep the car for another 18 months until the extended guarantee runs out as a minimum. Doing it that way the amount I am saving by not having any monthly payments for the final 18 months (about £5,750) would be more than the depreciation over that 18 month period particularly as the depreciation curve is less steep the longer I own the car. The alternative would be to hand the car back at 42 months and use the money I have for the balloon payment as the deposit for the new car but I would probably only do this if they make me an amazing offer and the Superb S4 is out. Hope this makes sense!
  16. Very interesting topic as many of us on here will have a decision to make on this in the future but I suspect there will be too many variables to each deal to make a meaningful comparison. For example, when I traded in a previous car when purchasing a civic, the dealer couldn't offer any money off the new car but offered me £8k trade-in price on my previous car that only had a value of £5k. Really depends what deals are about at the time but I will be interested to see what happens. For my part I am on a 42 month PCP but have a 5 year guarantee on the car so will probably change at 5 years old - I think that 18 months without monthly payments will more than make up for the depreciation between month 42 and the 5 year date although I will see what the dealer has to offer at 42 months, just in case... What I would also be interested in is when the S4 comes out, that is more likely to make we want to change, assuming they don't ruin it!
  17. Yes it can, I tried this as an experiment when i first got my car but I was only doing about walking pace. I was surprised when it worked. I am not sure if it would have worked at any higher speed. If will try a bit faster when I remember.
  18. 190 DSG - after 18,000 miles I pretty much always average 44-46mpg, 40 mile round trip commute each day, mainly on motorway. Driving style affects mpg hugely - last week I had to take a trip around the southern half of the M25 - had plenty of time so took it very easy (55-65mph avg), after 65 miles I had manage to average 68mpg, overall trip was 134 miles and I averaged 64.5 mpg. I know the trip measures a few mpg over but still very impressed with that mpg on such a large car with an auto gearbox.
  19. I agree with the above advice - never get the dealer to apply paint protection - get it done somewhere else or do it yourself. I did mine - not as long lasting as some others claim but it only takes 2 hours two a year - I use autofinesse toughcoat - very easy to apply, gives the paint an extra gloss as well as the paint protection.
  20. When I was buying mine they didn't - it was a £279 option. At that time there was a £1500 deposit contribution and a £500 fuel card when you bought on finance, plus the discount given by the dealer.
  21. I got my car just over a year ago and it wasn't as ordered although it was different to your problems - I had a missing Traffic Sign recognition camera and wrong wheels - Modus 18" fitted instead of 19" Sirius wheels. Dealer was quite good about it - they offered me the chance to keep the Modus wheels for a few weeks and then decide if I wanted to change to what I had ordered. I decided to keep the Modus as I quite liked them - they refunded the difference in cost plus £100. As compensation for the missing TSR camera (option cost was £85) they have given me the first two services for free (value £279). Hope this assists in resolving your problems, my only issue would be that I wasn't that too bothered about the TSR camera but I would have been bothered about missing DSG paddles.
  22. Such a shame they are not doing what peugeot & citroen have done with their hybrids - 'normal' engine drives the front wheels and electric power drives the rear - creating a 4x4, great with the current weather. I am not sure why other manufacturers are not using this approach.
  23. Mine was also changed from variable to fixed at the first service but apparently you can;t have the car on variable servicing if you pre-pay for the first two services. It is still worth paying the £279 for two though.
  24. Hi, No this was was a perfectly straight piece of 3 lane motorway - I have looked back at this on my dashcam and the car in front is a reasonable distance away and neither this or the cars either side slow at all. The only thing I did notice is that the car in front and the ones to both sides are all doing exactly the same speed - wonder of this could somehow have confused it. I use ACC regularly and this is the first time it happened so assuming it is not a common issue.
