  1. Not experienced the problem but IIRC the cars relays are in the area above the drivers footwell near the light switch
  2. Passenger footwell - this is where the fuse box/ relay panel is fitted probably either a loose main feed nut securing the main battery lead to the board or printed circuit / relay connection fault

  4. A battery WILL NOT have 14.5v accross teh teminals without engine running and alternator "excited" - I believe you are talking about alternater charging voltage - A car battery accross the teminals will supply 12.5v ish (6 cells each supplying just a fraction over 2 volts). Voltage is not really an indication of battery condition its the current that its able to supply.
  5. The actual Ignition switch on you Felicia is a high possibility, I have had one fail it gave symtoms like a starter motor/solenoid/battery issue i.e just a click or non at all from solenoid. after changing the starter motor the fault returned. It got worse until no click from solenoid when turning the key. Switch was High resistance and breaking down with current drawn by solenoid- burnt contacts inside. Your issue is most likely to be either, wiring fault feeding solenoid (poor conection or lead drpped off), ignition switch, or starter solenoid (not a service part is part of starter motor) The solenoid is fed direct from ignition switch. Try turning the key a bit further round when trying to start- a bit more pressure when it hits the stop - (this was how mine ended up - i.e nothing on a normal turn a bit harder and contact was made)
  6. Sorry cant really see why you have assumed its a thermostat fault, you say temp gauge reads normal - no overheating- So it could be that the thermostat is doing its job keeping the engine at he correct temp. Circulation will be limited with partially or closed thermostat. If what you are saying is correct and the engine runs better on the cool side without a thermostat. I suggest the car is looked at by a Skoda dealership to see whats happening - it may be that when the ECU (engine control Unit) is is being told the engines hot by the temp sensor the mixture/ fueling is reduced (as is normal) and the engine stalls as you are experiencing - running without a thermostat means sending false signals to the ECU that the engines cold when its actually hot so will continue with an enriched fueling - which for some reason you engine needs due to a fault of some sort - or you have a duff or incorrect temp sensor (i.e old one had failed and new non OE sensor is not suitable.
  7. With the Skoda item, the thermostat I believe normally fails open so temp gauge does not rise much over lower limit and heater and water system remains cool - much the same as you are experiencing with thermostat removed. As you say you have the reverse problem this is probably not problem - with the thermostat in is the temp gauge reaching normal?:- if the stat is remaining closed you will overheat. If the water is failing to circulate it may be that you have a leaking head gasket that is preventing the water circulating - however this would give you overheating problems and an eratic temp gauge reading. Dont know what fails in the Skoda item but only know when it does the whole unit has to be changed.
  8. What Sarah is trying to say is that - if you need thermostat for your late model Felicia The only option is to get a "Themostat housing complete" from a Skoda dealer. When obtained as an original Equipment replacement it comes with the temp sensor installed in the unit. The sensor is available as a seperate Skoda part but not the thermostat i.e if sensor fails this may be sourced from Skoda as a seperate part but not the thermostat. Motaparts may well supply a separate housing that includes a thermostat but not the sensor- Skoda DO NOT - whether the non OE sensor/ thermostat in the one you have is suitable for your car who knows - best to get OE parts. Did you fit the whole new housing after fitting the sensor to it or did you remove the thermostat from the new housing and fit in the old housing to save some work?
  9. Still unsure if you have changed the "whole fully assembled thermostat plastic housing with thermostat and temp sensor installed" or just the thermostat. As mentioned by Sarah the whole unit which must be changed in the event of a thermostat failure (later models) quite common fails open. The thermostat is NOT available as a replacement part when this type of housing is installed. Its expensive so if you have changed this twice you have spent a lot of money. On earlier Felicia's and NOT a 2000 model like yours the thermostat could be changed as an individual item and is available as a spare part, this earlier type used a different housing assembly.
  10. Congratulations Stuart - Sahara Biege in my opinion is about the best choice on the Superb. Personally I think the Black leather option is a bit too black with no contrast and dont personaly like the wood trim with the black leather - although I understand you need to be practicle with your milage. The Black Edition 100 grey/blue seats and piano black trim is great but feel they should have trimmed the doors with the grey leather also for the same reaons. Your car will look great and I am sure you will be very pleased with it. My choice would have been Sahara Biege, Ivory leather interior - with a set of black carpet mats for every day use. With My Ivory leather trimmed Superb I got a set of extra black mats as a gift from my dealer when i picked it up for use in winter etc. John
  11. Same here agree two new cars and all car servicing carried out by "Winners of Cinderford" - great team. John
  12. Not quite correct the higher band as heard on Radio 2 today and as shown in your DVLA link shows that the BAND G comes into affect for new vehicles registered after March 23rd 2006. Lucky for me and my 250g/kg 2.8
  13. Agree its a bit sensless giving full details on how to break into a Superb in a Forum  , thats a few more breakins thats going to happen worldwide - if they didn't know they do now

  15. Had exactly the same problem on our Felicia, took to autoglass who removed screen and applied sealant when reffiting. No problem ever since. Cost about £15 ,cheaper, cleaner and more proffesional in long run to applying DIY sealant Screens are not sealed in factory they are designed to be dry fitted with the rubber seal - seems this is the weak point.
  16. Its the display unit between rev counter and speedo, it displays driver info such as handbrake on , refuel in the middle segment, top segment has the radio station info or track being played, bottom segment has on an Auto gear details. When a Navigation unit is fitted (correcly and with appropriate navigation unit other related components and wiring)the middle segment will display turn details road info and countdown info to turns etc. The factory fitted units in Superbs have this FIS display operation for navigation.
  17. Unit will not work with just the standard radio plugs inserted. There is another plug 26 pin IIRC thats needed to provide pulses to the NAVI unit that records wheel rotation. On an OE fitted unit this is provided from the ABS feeds. After fitments use a Gala pulse feed of 8 pulses per revolution - the unit has a setting to switch manualy between the 8 or 26 (might not be 26 pulses but its higher than 8) ppulse feed. You will not get aunouncents because the navi does not think the car is moving!!! as it not getting any pulses to tell it the cars moving. All the gps ariel is providing is yout current location. Suggest you get the plug and play wiring kit - that will solve your current issue you will also have lost steering wheel controls and on another note you will have noticed that FIS radio station/cd display by fitting the unit has now been lost and will stil not work when you fit the wiring kit. Your unit you have purchased will not be able to provide navigation instructions in the FIS panel when you start getting your voice guidance working in your vehicle as detailed. A Skoda sourced disc is not required just the appropriate teleatlas disc for the unit
  18. Thanks for making the effort Jason - a good and fair write-up
  19. I believe the key you talk about is also for the likes of commonishers of hotels etc who park your car for you. The lockable rear backrest is same as found on old model Passats and is for security, and folding seats backs where not on earlier Superbs:( wish mine had them
  20. Thanks for reply MACCA'S R - I was looking for some alternative/personal /recomendations/ sugestions - will probably have a drive out tomorow and have a look around in the area so I can book and look. Superdan - last resort if really starving and cant find anywhere
  21. Looking for a Pub/resturant that is reasonal and serves late lunches on Sundays between the M3 turn at Thorpe and Bracknell M4 /Basingstoke/Reading area. I will be passing through this area after a trip to France on my way home, this area seems a good point to stop before continuing on to the Cirencester area Would perferably like a country pub that could accomadate a group 10 people we will probably arrive at the thorpe turn around 13:45. And if possible somewhere that is likely to have a big tables that we could book before hand. Been to the Leather Bottle & Jekyl and Hyde near Basinstoke on meets these sort of pubs would be ideal - not sure if they do late lunches on Sundays though All suggestions apreciated
