According to the dietz site yes if you look under VW. The 1412 is specified for the VW MFD it is the same as your Skoda units as far connections go, they only have slightly different boot s/w so they display the VW startup screen, vw dealerships as POI and have blue lighting and badged VW. The navigation units are manufactured by Blaupunkt

Agree with comments with new steering wheel and controls would put me off a new one, old ones much more classy in my opinion. A friend who has just taken delivery of a new Superb with the new steering wheel he preffered the operation the contols on his older Superb.

No the hatch Octavias don't. The estate versions do, as does the Superb. Would have been really helpful if they did - not sure if they have had some sense and fitted to the Octavia II hatches.

As has been mentioned the TMC information is sent over Classic FM. The sat nav unit should pick up classic as its carrier automatically one of the menus shows the available TMC stations available classic is the only choice in the UK. When going abroad assuming TMC coded european disks are used will select the carrier channel automatically. You dont have to listen to classic fm to use TMC!! you use the radio stations as normal Teleatlas produce the disks for the Sat nav unit and for the uk there is a tmc enabled disc and a non tmc enabled disc teh tmc disc being more expensive to cover the charges for the company running TMC, different countries pay teh charge in different ways . Your unit will be known as an MFD2 unit in your Octavia 2 the earlier units fitted to Skodas where reffered to just as MFD . What type of disk skoda has supplied you I do not know- On the earlier mfd units fitted to Skoda's the letters TMC was visible on the bottom right of the screen when a TMC disk is inserted, its probably the same on your MFD2 unit. A way to tell if you have a TMC disk is to be able to select "dynamic" in the route option menus. If you can you can select it you have it if its greyed out and beeps you havn't. TMC only operates on motorways.

Had my card clonned a month or so back in outside a tesco in Cirencester - as did a lot of other people - I now get cash back or get money out internally in banks etc. They are clever and have card readers and keypads xmitting pins and card details entered nearby wirelessly. Got my lost money back from my bank quite quickly.

I had this problem also, my dealer was helpful in replacing the unit under warrenty but the new one was far far worse - wished I hadn't asked for it to be looked at. The mechanic said they need a good push to shut and there is a special technique required to shut them . They offered to order another if it continued to cause me a problem. Drove me mad so I looked at the problem my self. Removing the ashtray unit (complete with flap etc) from the car I found that the tray would latch first time every time - whereas when refitted in car it would latch sometimes and not others half latching that was causing the tray to open when going over bumps. I found the resolution was to remove the gear suround (Mines an auto)and then remove the two screws that hold the piece of trim in place that the tray shuts against . These screws are not refitted and are not really required as the gear lever trim when reffitted holds the trim in palce thet the scews were removed from. This allows the tray to go down slighty futher down when closed and allows it to latch fully. Now it never opens unexpectedly and closes with the lightest of closes. John

Look on the dietz site (german) http://www.dietz.biz/ENG/00000096460ce6d18/index.html to see the type required (thats where I got the unit nos from)and info look at vw units they are the same functionally, then do an all country search on ebay for the dietz model required - a german ebay shop will come up sells them - as has been suggested satnavsytems also show them. I have had no personal dealings with either source. Your unit is not MFD2 on your Superb it will be the older MFD DX. A 1212 is an audio/ video adapter also

Haynes manual says it doesn't come off and that if an attempt is made it will probably break. - Not tried myself.

Memory seats (electric) and memory exterior mirror settings go hand in hand. The seat position is set and corresponding mirror settings required for sitting in the set position and programed to be set whenever that drivers key fob is used to open the car. The settings including reverse setting is recorded at least on the Superb after the seat and mirror positions are in position - so its probably the same controller The other drivers fob will be set to their desired seat and desired mirror positions and again recorded in a single operation. for example my wifes fob when she opens the car the drivers seat moves to her position and her recorded mirror settings - when she selects reverse her recorded passenger mirror tilt operates. My fob sets my seat and mirrors to my recorded settings which have been set by me. Mirrors and seat settings need to be matched personally to a driver ideally so thats probably why the auto memory mirrors are only fitted when electric memory seats are fitted

No its not phono aux on the navigation unit - to convert to phono audio and video you will require an interface cable/interface unit such as the Dietz 1213 for audio only (cable) or Dietz 1412 (interface) for video and audio unit.

There is a notch/line on the edge of distributor (remove cap first to see) and a line on tip of rotor arm when these line up no 1 cylinder is on its compression sroke at TDC. the caps no 1 lead will be in this position move round clockwise in the order 1342
