  1. And your point? You want the car - that's the cost.. You walk into it with eyes wide open. If you regularly swap your car there is no advantage to buy over rent (other than the locked in period)... because its never your till you pay the last payment. If you buy it cash / loan ... still costs the same.... depreciation is the killer - and after 3 years - your £35 Car is worth £ 16 to £17 K - so still costs you £19K for the last 3 years. Unless you plan long term to own - or think that you might own the car (life is never 100% certain) then why buy with cash or a loan where you tie up your personal credit availability... ? The only advantage is the potential lower APR - 2.9% at bank - but only to £25K - then it increases. I was not aware Skoda dropped the finance rates. As my car is delayed... I will check what offers they have at the time of collection and may see if I can push that.. becasue contract I signed has car cost - not finance agreement details.. My L&K - with £1500 extras is around £450 mth - with 3K deposit from me + £3k from Finance Company.
  2. My Yeti is PCH and the guy I was talking to was the dealer finance guy... maybe he did not have details or just wanted to push the Yeti If you dont mind me asking what was the difference between PCH and PCP - on the L&K on order - the difference was mainly deposit... monthly's were close from memory - PCH being 20 or 30 a month cheaper. I opted for the PCP with the intension of maybe buying this one at the end... I will be 55 and plan on retiring at 57... but we'll see....
  3. Was this car on a PCH - 2 Year? With Skoda direct or a broker.. The reason I asked was when I bought the Yeti (April 17 for Sept Delivery) I test drove the Kodiaq - but they would not offer PCH on it...
  4. And you can not buy outside and import? I assume they would still gouge you when you registered car?
  5. Contact Skoda Live Chat - but you need the order number from the dealer They should be able to advise if there is a confirmed build date. As your car is already 10 weeks + into order - to meet your 13 week - it should be built this week - to be on way via ship next week..
  6. Yes - also does not have a very big or deep boot... partially due t high floor and shape on hatch.... They certainly are a nice vehicle if 5 seats and not big dogs in the boot are needed... nice inside and as said above - good engine...
  7. Yes - will be first Kodiaq No - Skoda is only a recent change - since 2017 - due to being the best value in the VW Group. I started my New Car purchase in 1992 - with Ford Escort - then swapped to Vauxhall was a big Vauxhall fan and had load of those Corsa GSi x 2 Astra Sport x 2 - Vectra 2.0 SRi. 2.5 SRI V6 and CDX 2.6 V6 between 95 and 2002. Then swapped to Audi - Had 3 Audi A3's , another Astra, A Class Mercedes, LR Freelander V6, some Ford KA's normal and Sport , VW Polo - The VW Group being mine and the others the wife's.(except Polo) Then had 2 VW Tiguans before swapping to Skoda... wife had a new Mini when I had the Tiguans. So quite a variety.... these are just what springs to mind. There has also been a Shogun and also right now have Suzuki G Vitara.
  8. I know Melanie - but deal with Mike McDonald and the Business Manager Keith Dando I have always found them helpful and wanting to do a deal... their prices are keen for nearly new cars... but you can also get good prices on new from them and will happily discount and try the best to price match. On the L&K on order... they could not quite match the price on line but got close enough that it was not worth swapping away from them... the Kodiaq will be my 4th car from them since 2017.
  9. You buy from White Dove in Cardiff? Who did you deal with?
  10. Its possible to do - look on the Karoq projects... but a lot of hassle and cost... Would suggest you look about... where are you what model and price you looking at?
  11. I also follow Silvers view point with my motorcycles - where I typically do an interim oil change between the annual services... which is not necessary.. but gives me piece of mind when the bikes at 8,000 to 10,000 RPM.... My bikes - like my dogs have no expense spared... and are pampered and looked after way more than they should be.... The car.. while I like cars.. I see as more of a tool.. it gets everything it needs... but no more... they are well looked after - not abused and cleaned and checked Its all a personal choice.. and how we choose to spend the money.. I never keep a car longer than 4 years and typically change 2 to 3 years.... sometimes much more frequent if I dont like it.... but that was in my youth where I was more foolish and did not have other drains on my finances... (7 new cars in 2 1/2 years)
  12. Neither will effect your WTY... providing you service according to the computer in car and the service is recorded correctly.. Ignoring it now and waiting 9 months could effect your WTY.
  13. And while Silver is correct.. it never hurts to have fresh oil... it can be a waste of money... it wont harm the car to change the oil early.... but i am also not sure it causes issues.. so long as the high mileage oil is used... the oil suppliers and vehicle manufacturers do extensive testing. Not sure of exact number - but I would say more than 50% of new car sales are company and they would all run Variable Service - where the car monitors the oil temps and viscocity (i believe) and then adjusts the service schedule based on the oil.... (could be wrong and its all on driving style) These Company vehicles - typically do high mileages in short periods and also go on to do big overall mileage. In USA - at one time they recommended oil changes every 3000 miles or 6 months and many people still do that... thats not to say its wrong... but not needed. As Silver said... if you plan to own car long term... and are not worried about servicing costs... then leave it as is and get it serviced every 9 to 10 months at £120 to £200 a service?
  14. NO... dealer will need to swap back the computer... unless he does that the need service message will be on for the next 9 months. Unfortunately its a change the dealer made - to get more money from you (more service visits) - which is OK if your mileage is mainly city... but at mainly motorway.. it should have been left on variable service as it came from the factory.
  15. Your dealer set it to fixed - 1 year or 9500 miles... he should have left it at the variable service.. I would ask your dealer to return it to variable and not service it until next year at the 18,000 mark as most of your mileage is motorway and that was what the variable service is for!
  16. My prefered choice would be LR Discovery HSE with Extras... but that's about £73K..... about £65 after discount. I really can not justify it... despite it being an amazing car... I was hoping the New Defender would have been a cheaper version... but fully specked I am at £65K and for next 2 years probably 0 discounts available. So realistically same money as Disco. Plus the nag in your subconcious that its HUGE service costs on top of the vehicle cost... I actually liked the Volvo too... but again.. by time you spec it you are in 60K territory... These Q7 seem a good deal.... but the roof height is limited (for big dogs) so also not ideal... VFM Kodiaq... then Q7
  17. Yes - I looked at them... Nice but expensive - have a look here... some good offers on AVAILABLE cars Q5 and Q7
  18. But also the fact that they let you add Extra's - not possible on many brands now - choose between 3 or 4 models - thats it... Seat for example
  19. I would say you more than likely have an issue that the rear brakes are not working as well as they should - so not clearing the surface rust... Or that you hardly brake? But unless you feel any judder during breaking should be no issue..
  20. Do you have any photos? Maybe the dealer being 'Overly Cautious' and trying to extract some cash..
  21. My car is on PCH - 3 Years - so due to go back in 11 months time in July - I spoke with Dealer about swapping to Kodiaq He got a preferential settlement figure from VW finance who wanted £14163 - for a 22 month old car. He said he would buy it from me for £13,600 - meaning I just had to pay £563 to walk away from PCH early... against the 65% of the remaining 14 payments from ending PCH officially (over £3000) So 3 months ago - with 18,000 miles dealer was looking to buy it from me for £13,600.... hence my £13,000 figure 3 months later..
  22. The Carista dongle allows this - but - if you have someone behind the driver they can get squashed if not expecting it (legs) - especially on Karoq. I did the wife's car and she was complaning to me Saturday about squashing her when she was sat in back next to granddaughter..
