  1. I’ll take a look later on today. Next MOT is now due March 2021. So was going to bring the service forward from June 2021 to fall in line. @Scot5 I do about 300 miles a week, mainly motorway driving. I’m partial to Sport mode now and again when I get on the twisty B roads but mainly it’s in Normal for the commute.
  2. The service carried out in June 2019, according to the paperwork, consisted of an Inspection with Oil Change (flexible) with additional work listed as Dust and Pollen Filter. This was carried out at nearly 8000 miles. The car has been on a flexible service since new as prior to this the record only shows the Delivery Inspection. Ideally I’d like to keep the Service and MOT aligned.
  3. My car is currently on a long life service schedule and is not due it’s next service until June 2021. The 2nd MOT will be due in March 2021 as I had this carried out free by the selling dealership as they offered it as part of the sale. I didn’t want to make a long return trip for an MOT and to highlight any potential issues whilst still under warranty I was happy for them to do this early. Would people advise on going back to an annual service when the time comes? I’ll most likely get the next service done in March when the MOT is due. The car was registered in June 2017 and only has 11,000 miles on the clock. Having said all of the above, the service indicator in the car says it’s due in June as this wasn’t reset correctly at its last service. Struggling to find a local dealership who will reset this though as they didn’t do the original service and this don’t want to be liable for it.
  4. Lovely car! I also went from a Mk7 Fiesta ST to a Octavia vRS TDI when the little’un and dog came long (a Mk2) which I had it for 3 years. Recently upgraded to a Mk3 TDI with DSG in Race Blue as I fancied an auto and a bit more refinement over Mk2 due to longer commutes. Great value for money and good looking cars in my opinion. I do miss driving the Fiesta though. Great little cars to mod and, like you said, a blast on the B roads. Test drove a Mk8 when they first came out to see if we could live with a 5 door but wasn’t keen on the looks and again it was just too small. I also went stage 2 with Collins Performance. Wasn’t a huge fan of the Mongoose exhaust though, I thought a 3in system was too big for the car as it often vibrated off the heat shield. Droned a bit too (granted I went for the louder one - I should have really taken other owners cars out to compare systems first) and I wasn’t overly impressed with the quality against say the Mountune or Miltek system when looking up close. Couldn’t fault CP’s knowledge and customer service though.
  5. Holy Thread revival Batman! I’m looking at joining the club, can you guys confirm the colour of the spoiler? I have the Blackpack on my vRS which has the gloss grille surround and metallic black wing mirrors (I’m guessing these are just standard Skoda Black Magic mirror caps which leads me to believe the spoiler will be the same).
  6. I bought my Octavia as an Approved Used car and confirmed that it was put on a long life service schedule (or whatever it is called now) by the previous owner meaning the next service wouldn’t be due until approx June 2021. I was a bit surprised when I physically checked the trip computer myself to see that it was scheduled for June 2020. A quick call to the dealer confirmed that I was on a long life service plan and that the trip computer just hadn’t been reset correctly. As I had a bit of a commute to collect the car I’m a bit reluctant to have to travel all that way to get it reset but may not have a choice as my other closest Skoda dealerships won’t do it as they weren’t the ones that serviced it (something about them being liable for the servicing). Fingers crossed one of the above methods will work on my Mk3 FL.
  7. Well I had the car checked on a Hunter Alignment system and all readings were within manufacturer guidelines. They did say they could tweak them a bit to get it perfect but I’d be wasting my money. So I didn’t have to pay a penny, not even for the check. They did point out that the tyres were starting to look a bit perished, and looking at the manufacture date, were likely the originals from factory making them 3 years old. I’m not inclined to get them changed just yet as there is still plenty of tread in them and I’ve gotten used to any road noise now. I did, however, end up having to remove and refit the nearside A pillar trim as it was making a loud buzzing noise against either the window or dash. This has solved much of the noise I was experiencing!
  8. The wing mirror caps and front grille surround come in black however the mirror caps appear to be painted metallic with the grille moulded to give a gloss finish. I’m going to guess that those black spoilers are metallic too. If someone could confirm this that would be great.
  9. @Ecomatt nice, I like mods like this too! You say you fitted this to a Mk3 TDI? Are you planning on pairing it with a high flow panel filter too? Without a map I’m guessing the gains will be negligible on a diesel but I’m I interested to hear how you get on and will probably do the same for the cost and time involved.
  10. I’m booked in at the dealer to have mine looked at under warranty, although why they have to do this over 2 visits baffles me (one to check them over, another to rectify the issue, if deemed necessary) especially in the current climate. I’m hoping they have some in stock when I first visit as it’s a 5 minute job to swap them out. If not I’ll encourage them to swap them out with one in the showroom. I’m tempted to fit a plane, flat, centre cap and get some gel badges made up to stick to them. DMB graphics are quite popular on the Ford forums when it comes to gel badges and overlays, I’ve had a few custom badges made up by them in the past for my ST too.
  11. @silver1011 that ties in with what Sasha has said regarding my car being a very early FL model hence why it isn’t available with my hardware/software combo.
  12. @SashaGrace excellent thank you. I’ve got a rough price for the unit that includes the performance monitor, it’s whether I can justify it for those features. At the minute, in the current climate and with warranty remaining I can’t. Good to have a better understanding of the system all the same though and one for the future.
  13. That’s a bummer. Never mind. Do you know what other features I’m likely missing out on with a newer unit other than this and the option to colour code the displays to match the ambient lighting? In all honesty if it weren’t for this forum I’d never have know that these features even existed so wouldn’t have missed them otherwise! 😂 They would have been nice perks to have but not essential behind me buying the car. I believe I have the newer screen with the FL so could just retrofit a C unit with all the features but I’m unsure if I’d need a new BCM, I also have some warranty left so don’t want to void that.
  14. Evening all, I’ve had a search but nobody seems to have an answer to an observation I’ve had in older threads. I’ve seen that some Maxidots show a journey summary however mine will not show this. Any pointers to get this to show up after a drive? Cheers.
  15. Having spoken to Pawel it doesn’t sound like my unit supports firmware 04xx with the most up to date version available to hand being 0367. This isn’t a major issue but it would have been nice to colour code the displays to match the LED ambient lighting. My car must have been built very early on if this is the case as I’ve seen many other 17 plates with the option to change the colour of the display.
  16. The BCM is the Body Control Module. I’m not fully aware of what it does but at a guess it’s like a computer that governs what the car is or isn’t able to do based on build spec. Some retrofits/VCDS reprogramming may not work without a higher spec BCM. I’m unaware what spec my BCM is or how to find out without visually looking at it for a serial number, I believe it’s in and around the passenger footwell somewhere. In any case I wouldn’t know without looking if the lighting settings I’m after will be compatible with my BCM even after a firmware update although I could be wrong on that.
  17. Strange mine didn’t come with a more recent firmware. I’ve seen plenty of 17 plate cars with this option. The only thing I can think of that would have rolled back any firmware is me doing a factory reset through the menu when I picked it up to wipe the previous owners settings etc.
  18. @SashaGrace will a main dealer be able to do this for me? My car is having the service schedule reset Friday so I can ask them to have a look at updating the firmware. I’m not overly fussed about the lighting with the different driving modes however i’d like to be able to adjust the menu lighting to match the LED selection. Thanks!
  19. @SashaGrace if I go in to the System Information menu the software number shows 0366. Not sure where to find the BCM software version.
  20. @SashaGrace I only have the option to change the colour and brightness of the LED door lights and adjust the brightness of the footwell lights.
  21. I’ve seen a couple of vRS that have alternate background colours on the menu and maxi dot screens. I can’t for the life of me find an option to change this setting from green. I have a 17 plate vRS FL with LED ambient lighting. Will this require a software update or VCDS activation? I’ve tried to update the system using my phone as a hotspot but no luck (I can’t even get Skoda Connect to work but I gather this is an Apple and EE issue). I never get the red globe on the homescreen although my phone recognises the hotspot and the car shows I have WLAN signal.
  22. Nice! As I said, this looks great on the Meteor Grey cars.
  23. @themanwithnoaim I think i’ll go for a set of these to include the Skoda, Octavia and vRS badges. I’m looking at getting the bonnet and boot badges that are colour coded Race Blue but I can only see one option on the SuperSkoda website. If I order 2 will they fit both bonnet and boot or are these separate items?
