Really boils my **** when people drive on the motorway with high beam matrix lights, especially if its an SUV, blinds the hell out of everyone because the lights can't decide what to turn on and off and then the poor lorry drivers on the other side of the road are constantly flashing because their headlights are hidden behind the barrier but their cab isn't. It should be called High Beam Assist or something instead. I always turn mine off on the motorway.

The app is a bit flaky, the car can sometimes go to sleep and not allow the pre-heating from the app, however, I mostly set mine on a calendar timer and it heats up pretty regularly. Occasionally charging doesn't happen as per schedule, which can be annoying, I've not found the reason for this. It's a yearly subscription, about £80pa if you want the emergency assist and the app and the map updates. Crankcase gets some seriously good mileage out of his, although I live in a rather hilly countryside where all the roads are 50mph+, I tend to get between 22-29. I once got 35 in the summer being really careful with it, mine is a sportline wagon. Longer journeys as crankcase says, you can end up with 25-30% of your journey being on electric due to coasting and regeneration. I find it does best in stop-start traffic or 50mph roadworks, it does worst on hilly a-roads, pretty much like an EV. Best ive had is 78mpg on a 100mile run, otherwise its pretty much impossible to get it below 50mpg, the thing will do 47mpg with a flat battery. The downside, charging is dog slow. It never remembers your last EV driving setting eg hybrid and only use 50% of the battery, so it defaults to only electric every time. Pre-heating the car in the winter before you leave is an absolute must. I reckon I put fuel in mine once every two months. It's used exactly as you will use yours, less than 20miles daily, with the occasional 100 mile journey. If you want a bit more oomph then ABT do an upgrade to raise the engine from 150bhp to 185bhp, its a piggyback chip. They do the same chips for the Seat Cupra via main dealerships.

I have the wireless charger. Don't bother, its rally slow, the phone just overheats in the little cubby hole especially if you use apple car play. Just use the USB2.0 plug in the arm rest (not the USB-c as that is dog slow as well!)

I've never got 30miles out of mine in the winter, although, everywhere is a hill where i am and a 50mph road.

I've been looking at some Eibach springs for a while, but i don't like the large drop on the front (the Eibach springs are 70mm shorter!), did you ever receive the new springs? How did they look? Did you post the part number, i couldn't find it.

This is a good tip, I did think about something like that by using VRs/Sport mode and setting the manual battery to maximum but I wasn’t sure if the engine would run the whole time. Like you, I just find it really weird that the GPF would even light up but maybe if the engine is hardly being used except really short blasts it can clog up quickly, just not sure why it did it after a long drive the day before which is why I called up Skoda assist - the guy said he’d only heard of it from his WhatsApp group and that was on a Passat (so same car I guess). He said he gets it a lot on the 2.0TSi though.

I think the problem with Intelligent is that it runs a time to charge the car only, but the Skoda wants to charge and then heat up afterwards. Other manufacturers start the preconditioning at say 95% and the last 5% takes longer. In saying that, it should still preheat even if it’s on the battery, but maybe it knows the cable is plugged in but can’t take a current and so it just gives up. I run the Skoda on a 3pin and it’s mostly ok, it does random annoying crap though like sometimes it ignores the off-peak timer and starts charging if you’ve left it unlocked (and other as yet, unknown reasons). The 3pin can’t supply enough current to charge and heat up though. i set mine from the app to charge between 23:30 - 05:30 and then I tell it to heat from 07:00-07:30 on a separate program. That way I always charge at offpeak but it’s always warmed and defrosted when I leave.

Thought I would update on this. Mrs Globalste drove the car to work in hybrid mode, this forced the engine to sit at 2000rpm constantly and not use the battery at all, when she got to work the light had extinguished. however, I wasn’t too happy it had turned on in the first place and my OVDEleven was showing a few other errors so Skoda Assist came out. the guy from Skoda could see what the car had done but ran a regen on the driveway and sorted a couple of recall items. Then the car decided to throw a wobbly and EPC light came on and he couldn’t clear it, something to do with the camera. So now it’s got to go into the dealership to be sorted out, but annoyed really as we are supposed to be going away this weekend and I’d got the winter tyres and the roofbox on, now I’ll have to take it all off and probably get a VW Up rental! 😞

No matter how many times I turn the allow battery off, the app just turns it back on. If the car is plugged in though it uses the cable and not the battery.

Yes I get this a lot, it’s usually when the car has been sat there for longer than 36hrs and has gone into a sleep mode and the app can’t wake the car up.

Just had this pop up on the dashboard, last thing I expected to see on a PHEV. Car drove a good distance a couple of days ago with the engine running, first time this error has popped up. code from OBD Eleven is P1A9100 anyone had this with an iv? Couldn’t find anything on the VW GTE forums. pretty much runs in electric the whole time (<20mile journeys) except for longer journeys where hybrid mode is used. Skoda assist coming out to see it with a skoda tech on Friday morning. Couldn’t get the online manual to work!

The car has normally charged fine on the 3pin plug using the off peak schedule in the car. Just plug it in and it charges. recently, it’s been plugged in and the timer light has lit up, but then an hour later the thing starts charging for unknown reasons! It’s don’t it 3x this week. I’ve checked all the settings like off peak and the schedule etc, but it’s all ok. anyone else sometimes have this issue? If I notice it happen and press stop charging on the app then it does stop and then waits until the schedule to trigger it to charge

No I ran it from the headliner down the a-pillar and then made a piggy back loom to power the mirror and the dash cam. There is a good earthing bolt on the drivers end of the dash if you take the panel off. Urban panzers links were good, I had to faff getting grub screws etc because the brass plate was too thick and it made fitting very difficult!! The oem mirror just twists off from memory

Thanks JR RS for the reply, I couldnt find the thread where you had mentioned it, I was going to get my local independent to fit the springs so I wonder if they could just reset them. I actually have OBDEleven, so I guess I could do it whilst the car is up on the ramp? Is there a methodology written anywhere, or a certain menu in OBDEleven? Love the look of this car with the Eibach drop on it. I don't have the confidence to change my springs because I seem to remember you saying you needed to have the DCC recalibrated?

I fitted a Gentex auto dimming mirror. None of the brackets fit the Fabia though so I then had to order an adaptor plate which actually came from the US via Amazon, I also needed to buy some stainless grub screws. the Gentex ones aren’t really sold on Amazon uk anymore, but they make the VAG ones. The mirror was £60 and the adaptor plate was £15. Then I got some windscreen cable shrouds for £5 off eBay to hide the wires from the roof to the mirror. All in all, it looks good and was fun to do but was a bit of a waste of time mod in the Fabia. Also, I had to faff a lot to get the thing tight and then use loctite on the grub screws. getting the old mirror off was interesting, defo way CJ the YouTube videos on it! Wired mine to the rear wiper (along with a bunch of other stuff!)

Fairly certain Salisbury isn’t level 3, they’ve got a Kia dealership attached to them at the moment and are sadly pretty woeful of late, I think they’re short on techs there.

Hmm I may go to Winchester then, although they were really stand-off-ish when I showed them Vagcom printouts of a charging error code I keep getting, one that others have also had trouble getting resolved. Really gets my goat when dealers claim that only Odis could possibly read a DTC, forgetting what software they had before Odis.

It’s a year ago so I can’t fully remember, but there are 3 different modules I think that require programming and the westfalia installers kit is just supposed to flash all 3. The problem with 2020+ models is they use a different architecture and the software given to westfalia dealers didn’t flash all 3 leaving them with errors. I’d be surprised if VCDS can programme everything on the new models.

Great news, the swivel factory one is now actually listed as a dealer option as well for the Superb, whereas this time last year none of the dealers could find the part to fit the iV vin numbers

Some didnt have a weight plate on the V5 but it was a small batch. If you have a sportline then I suggest going for a Westfalia. Pwitty85, it sounds like your Installer has not coded the vehicle correctly, they have done it as though it is an older vehicle and not coded all of the modules. edit, this is usually only an issue for 2020+ vehicles.
