Breaking news from Monza the Renault team will be rebranded as ALPINE F1 TEAM for 2021 with a blue colour scheme. Renault bought the small sports car company in 1973. The engine will continue to be known as Renault E-tech hybrid though.

Superb Sportline 272 hatch owner for 8 months now and after 7,800 miles it does everything very well. Like Nick above it will do 12mpg at 160mph (Autobahn of course) or 49.3mpg on my 27 mile commute. Upto 730 miles range and no diesel Superb can live with the performance available and traction impressive whether the road is soaking wet or bone dry. Actual average so far 39.5mpg.

From J20 to J14 and back to J22 M1 a total of 106 miles in 2 hours with a double oven in the back of the Karoq and still averaged 54.6mpg.

Happened again tonight BMW 1 speeding in the 3rd lane was being chased by BMW 2 who was going so fast they had to brake hard to avoid hitting the first BMW. If anyone has to brake whilst driving on a not very busy motorway they are clearly driving too fast and second a complete idiot.

Whoever serviced it last probably did the shortcut rather than full reset which results in the car counting down 372 days or 9,400 miles from the last service 12 months ago. Dealers often do this on purpose to get customers to return sooner than they need to.

If I was in the market for say a discounted family car circa £32,000 it would be between a 2.0TSi 190PS Superb L & K hatch or the Enyaq 60 with the Suite interior. The Founders Edition is not worth the discounted £47,000 but I would pick the Enyaq at just under £32,000 for the space it offers compared to its rivals at the moment.

Unfortunately in Motorsport money talks and without the best of everything including drivers who want to get paid, success is very hard to achieve. Just look at Kimi who should have retired when he left Ferrari but is now struggling to beat the Williams and HAAS which have budget issues.

The better lights on the FL or VC or DCC didn't really bother me because the main attraction for me is the huge cabin/boot space and the Golf R running gear (engine/brakes/7 speed DSG and of course 4WD). Priced my basic 2019 model on the Skoda configurator and it comes out at £41,400 now, which leaves loads of cash left over for 99 octane fuel and a stage 1 remap for some fun. Standard on good fuel mine produced 283bhp (Skoda claim 268bhp) and 369nm (Skoda claim 350nm) but with 360bhp and 514nm and the all important 4WD it can hold it's head high with some 400bhp rear wheel drive cars judging by my experience so far.

I must be lucky don't usually use the toilet on the Dreamliner flying the 8 hours and 4,250 miles to Kenya. Will be doing the 279 miles to Newquay in one go in 2 weeks time in my comfortable 160mph Superb without needing to stop for fuel. Will stop at our Hotel in Weston Super Mare on the return journey after 149 miles. Then on day 4 will complete the final 130 miles home without having bought any fuel since leaving Leicestershire. Enjoy the Tesla they are becoming quite common now on the M1. Saw 2 S Models side by side the other day.

If they could either do a video (ideal) or take a photo from the vehicle long term fuel consumption that will tell you a great deal about how it is driven as at maximum speed it can be as low as 12mpg. When I test drove my car I could see the previous driver who worked for Skoda had averaged 32mph and 32.5mpg and covered 4,900 miles in 6 months which is normally how long they use a car before getting a new one when the 69 plate cars get registered in September 2019. My average speed is much higher at 44mph and overall 39.5mpg actual over the 7,800 miles driven since last December.

Just go for a long extended test drive on various types of roads if it has DCC test different modes such as comfort and sport. Check to see if it has a spare wheel, blind spot lights in the mirrors (working). My Sportline Plus has the electric boot which is a nice feature and the 9.2" Columbus info screen. Check the voice control works on the sat nav as well. You might notice a slight lag between putting your foot hard down on the throttle and the gearbox reacting but this is normal for the DSG. Bought mine direct from Skoda dealer one owner ex-Skoda management car for £23,840 in Black Pearl and saved £15,000 and it is the best car I have owned having achieved 49.3mpg (best) with 700 miles possible (with control of the go pedal) from a tank, cheap road tax in the UK (£150) and low insurance for the performance. Mine has now covered 12,700 miles since March 2019 (19 plate) and has been 100% reliable and first service due in December at 17,000 miles and uses very little oil as well.

Second thought of today good oil + good fuel = zero problems (for me anyway). Spending a bit more tends to save a great deal in the long run.

Change of plan on my first 2 nights as I decided to use the Superb and after 7 consecutive commutes over 40mpg finally had a bit of fun and some bursts of acceleration which resulted in 2 journeys of around 38mpg and after 475 miles there is just under a quarter of a tank left (130 miles range) showing exactly 40.0mpg since refuelling. The traction in this car is so impressive wet or dry road it genuinely amazes me every time.
