  1. As I understand, re-synchronizing is required if you have repeatedly activated the keyfob out of range from the car (keyfob battery state of charge depending as well).

The mass tab is a piece of nickelled flat metal bolted to the engine bay wall, behind the battery. No polarity marking that I could see. See also this picture from a recent thread: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/uploads/monthly_2020_11/2020-11-06_005225.png.4adb4b5504d78f7507010ffabbc49cdf.png
  3. It may be of help to someone if I point out that when charging the (installed) battery you shouldn't clamp the charger's negative lead to the minus battery post but instead clamp it to the mass post behind the battery itself. That's to protect the sensor placed on the battery's minus post.
  4. Disabling Start/Stop doesn't change the green battery charging algorithm.
  5. Do you get a message on the dashboard when you depress the start button and the engine doesn't start?
  6. Here is my solution to the above problem. I have a permanently installed digital voltmeter (drawing 8mA), connected to the cigarette lighter port and placed so that I can read it through the locked car's window, to get the reading at as close to "no-load" as it gets. That's important, as unlocking the doors disrupts the reading. Then, I recharge the battery before the no-load voltage drops below 12.4 V, using a quality charger (mine is a CTEK) which doesn't switch to trickle charge as soon as 14.4V is reached (like some cheap chargers do), but also performs an "absorption phase" at 14.4V constant. That makes a big difference.
  7. True, and the consequence is that many more times than in the past, we return home with the battery not fully recharged yet. So, in these times of different flavours of lockdown, it's easy to let the battery stand idle below 12.4 V for longer periods, which causes sulphation, i.e. battery degradation.
  8. Battery charging is always done by the alternator. The difference is about what drives the alternator: extra fuel, gravity (going downhill) or inertia (at deceleration). The last two are free, of course.
  9. No, not sure. Seems easy to try...
  10. Window madness can be due to memory loss caused by disconnecting the battery without proper precaution. Resetting the memory is a service job, I'm afraid.
  11. How does aircon reduce fogging in winter? Does it first cool the inlet air to dehumidify it, to finally warm it twice as much?
  12. It's easy to make KESSY an enjoyable experience: keep a spare battery in your wallet.
  13. To keep consumption/emissions down, cars with the start/stop feature also favour charging the battery without extra fuel consumption (while decelerating, braking or travelling downhill) unless the battery state of charge is already pretty low. During the transport of a new car, it's therefore even easier to have the battery standing below 12.4 V for longer periods, which causes sulfation, i.e. battery degradation.
  14. I think that If the mirrors have been folded by the control knob, they will unfold into the normal position when the speed exceeds 15 km/h. Not certain, though.
  15. The approved 16" wheels for Yeti seem different from that for Karoq. Suggest you check further in the DPF from the bottom of this page: https://www.skoda-auto.de/service/serienbereifung
  16. Me too, like a child...
  17. Well, at 76 I do have some metal in my body, but not enough to make a half decent aerial ...
  18. No, the Philips H7 is the only upgrade I made. Having checked just now, I see that mine are the X-tremeVision type, so my experience may not be relevant.
  19. Me too, and they didn't impress me at all. Anyway, when you install them, mind that you must engage the bulb holder guides when still far out from the final bulb position. I struggled with that.
  20. All for the benefit of WLTP.
  21. I don't have a spare wheel, it takes too much space from the boot, as the 4x4 has no well for it. Also, the last flat I've had was over 40 years ago. Also, loose nails aren't used much these days. Also, at my age, changing a wheel isn't an easy task. I'd need to call for help anyway. ------------------------------- Today, on my walk, I found two sparking wood screws on the road I regularly drive on.
  22. From time to time I check that the Kessy keyfob still works if I hold it in my extended hand while I grab the door handle with the opposite extended hand.

I bought some affordable black 16" alloys for winter. Great comfort.
  24. I've decided to be one of the brave, whom the world belongs to. Instead of changing the batteries at the time of yearly service 4 months ago - as I was determined to do - I'm now just waiting for them to die. (Truth be told: I carry one spare battery and tool in my wallet, next to the driving license, another set in the car.)
