  1. lockout could be an easy fix..or not dropper again just may need a service..easily replaced with another dropper, 100+ or a lot less for standard one a quick frisk of the bay of e hasn't really thrown anything of interest other than the usual Chinese stuff or overpriced S/H the usual German retailers have little stock or 5-6 weeks, luckily for you they will ship to Ireland but again as i said knocking on e300 for Rockshox plus the hassle of swapping? https://www.bike24.com/cycling/parts/bike-forks/suspension-forks?menu=1000,1868,1922,1923&__qf_form-filter=&pgc[87][522]=1&pgc[72][475]=1&sort=price_asc not sure its worth it TBH says the man who put a 300 pound set of forks on a 200 pound bike
  2. re: the forks.... You may struggle to get some, parts are in very short supply and S/H prices are crazy. I think you'd be lucky to get a decent set for less than £250 - 300 new and used won't be that far behind and that's in UK let alone in Ireland
  3. Van dropped off for repairs.... 10 miles or so, 40% canal and then mostly road apart from a short section of climbing through the woods near home
  4. another tough one, especially after the Coffee stop...uphill for a loooong way with no warm up after 30 mins sitting around!
  5. replaced it last night and all is well... group ride again today, another warm one and after Coffee stop as i was closer to home than the start point i deviated from the group
  6. Past Dental Floss I think...
  7. A longer ride was planned but the recurring rear tyre issue put paid to that.... swapping out later for the tyre that came on the bike, this one is now scrap 😀
  8. It's a rite of passage for 'roadies'...
  9. Another warm one... Group ride. We were sitting around waiting for last one to arrive and I think if there was a pub close by we would have said Sod it 😀 2 miles to be added from home to start and I'll add the ride profile later.
  10. That looks good spec and in the same price bracket as the others. Not that it matters much but seems odd they've put the dropper/ derailleur cables internally but not the rear brake? I'll assume they get the brakes pre-built and is easier to fit at the factory?
  11. nice...n+5, i doff my hat to you or should that be chapeau
  12. TBH Mac as you're getting a new bike I'd have rode it and tell the OH you need the new one ASAP 😁 the old one then becomes your n+1 if she asks why you've still got the old one 😃
  13. i wouldnt get too hung up on brakes...all decent enough, MT400 is atouch better than MT200 but more than capable, i've got Tektro on mine..no issues. the Lapierre brake spec you've seen is the rotor spec, MT200 on it the Judy forks are probably the better options with the 120mm the Roscoe and Canyon 7 both have dropper posts which is a bonus for me if i lived out your way and the weather i'd prefer a threaded BB (Bottom Bracket), easier to replace than a Pressfit which have a reputation for creaking if not installed correctly, not adeal breaker but something to bear in mind? Roscoe has threaded BB, the others seem to be Pressfit, the Giant i can't pin down but as the spec just says cartridge... for me the Roscoe appears to be favourite, Lapierre and Canyon not much between them and the Giant just not quite there, but TBH any of them are more than capable...stock will be the issue
  14. I've never done Cardiac, only the Marquis Drive paved section and that's tough enough on a decent surface. I was near FTD at the top of Marquis, looked to be busy? Plenty of large groups around? Plans have changed for us today so I may get out again... 3 days in a row so my legs may feel it tomorrow 😀
  15. This downhill bit I lost the trail with all the recent logging so just decided straight line to the trail below 🤔 Basically branches, twigs etc left over so how I didn't get a puncture I have no idea.... I shan't be doing it again 😀
  16. a rather warm one today and another off round a tree to avoid a walker having to walk through mud, big roots, front wrong side to turn and away we went! i 'think' i lost concentration...on her own, shorts, short T shirt and ermmm very nice she rushed over to see if i was OK and damn me i forgot to ask for mouth to mouth just a bruised ego to show for it luckily, no lasting damage
  17. Group ride today, phone decided to die about 2m from home so total nearer 19 miles. front brake was draggy so i adjusted it at the Coffee stop about 30 secs before we left...not a good idea! sounded like a steam train chugging away as the rivets on the disc caught the caliper...wheeel rolled easier though, just noisy...ill post pic in a while. Disc cleaned up, new pads fitted, caliper aligned... Just need bedding in now for tomorrow's ride 🚴
  18. So the inside/outside patches failed miserably.... Tube now in until tyre is worn out. A bit of a service/clean in the outdoor workshop after the garden work ready for the w/e, more of a B than a full one 😏 Note the highly technical equipment to prevent the patio from getting any dirtier 🤭
  19. I got 2 pairs of the 'Baboon arse' inners recently, 1 pair for here and the other to go to France, the only thing I found odd at first was how short they are at waist at the back but I think that's more being used to larger Madison inners/shorts. Comfort otherwise was fine From Lightinthebox I think but generally available on Amazon/Bay of E etc?
  20. patch on the inside part worked...this sealant stuff just doesn't want to clean off properly. was sealing until you apply pressure to the area or lower pressure and push as if riding then slight milky weep each time but did reseal. last effort is a patch on the outside, if this fails it's either throw a tube in or replace the rear tyre with the Forekaster that came on the bike. a quick look last night for tyres...jeez they're now near the price of car tyres i'll try and take a spin out tomorrow around the park at the back and see what happens, at least i can see the house! at the moment i'm out at 1.30 Saturday with the group and maybe Sunday on my own depending on how the legs feel , not over Stile Cop though or FTD/Monkey. 3 or 4 of our group have been down at Birches Valley on the new Blue trail and by all accounts the reports are good...nice flowing gravel with bermed corners, trail builders say it needs to harden up to prevent too many ruts
  21. told you Mac....Budget creep ( but can mean no upgrades needed, just pass it by the Significant Other first )
  22. Stan's normal.....too much in it to replace, i'll keep persevering just thrown a patch on the sidewall, give it a go later or sometime tomorrow
