  1. i think we can safely say that was a successful Olympics for GB? 4 events, 4 medals Hannah Roberts looked ermmm, a little surprised
  2. Off for the week to try and break the back of the garden project.... Waiting on a bulk bag of Cotswold chippings and the OH went out at 11.30 and not due back until 7.45 ish and the cassette conveniently arrived at 11.45, soooooo.... New stuff on the Whyte, older and some new on the Felt 😏 I'm not too sure on the jump to the 46 on the Shimano, Sun Race is a steady even rise but we'll give it a go and see. Needs a bit of attention to fine tune it but need to have a quick ride to bed it in first. Felt doesn't seem too bad, again a short spin out needed to see where that is on shifting
  3. So after 4 weeks off I'm back on the 'horse'.... Arm is aching but no pains from gripping bars or brake.
  4. so the bits are flying in luckily the OH's birthday is soon so i dont have to open any in front of her but will she notice there were more parcels than presents? just waiting on the rear cassette, Derailleur and the DM chainring... quick test fit today whilst she's out and chainring now ordered... i compromised and went oval but with 28t had to go orange as no black available which she WILL notice but i'll just say it was worn out anyway... £340....some are service items just to make me feel better... £125 to change to Raceface but £85 to fit the old Xeron's to the Felt...i'm sure with man-maths i feel like it's a bargain? unless i get caught out of course
  5. It could end if I really, really tried... I need to look at options re the chainring At the moment I don't know if I'll ever be going back to a 30t, 28t suits me at the moment. I was tempted to go 165 cranks and 30 oval but I don't really want to take the seat much higher and put more strain on wrists long term. I've stayed with 175s and will probably stay 28 TBH. The Xeron setup will remain as is on the Felt, not so much climbing in our area in France so the thinking is I know that both bikes will be the same gears wise. The Felt will remain in France, only back here due to servicing it last May when we returned and obviously not being able to go back easily yet.
  6. I'll be happy when i can get back out full stop! i MUST stop sitting on the PC and ordering stuff so far the list is 2 pairs pads 2 180 floating rotors 10sp chain 11-46 cassette for the Whyte mineral brake oil enduro straps x3 Shimano RD M5210 SGS rear derailleur Shimano SL M4100 shifter RaceFace Aeffect crankset. RaceFace cranks are going on the Whyte along with the new cassette, rotors and pads derailleur/shifter, Xeron crankset off the Whyte, spare Saint BB and used cassette are going on the Felt - the one i said i'd never spend money on upgrading just realised i also need a DM chainring for the RaceFace...oops
  7. proper bespoke stuff then by the look?
  8. that Trandem has some ermmmm stuff on it !
  9. yeh, i realised that later it was just the shock of it falling apart, all back together now ater cleaning the remaining oily bits. i need to re-bleed the back brake sometime soon, front was OK but rear still spongey and no bite when on the bike
  10. hopefully it will go back on short term... new cassette ordered, from Italy i think?, so i have one if needed, new chain to go with it being picked up tomorrow from Halfords......as cheap as online from elsewhere and in stock locally
  11. So as I'm on an a lay off the bike period it's time to give the oily bits a once over. Pedals re-greased, chain soaking in a cleaning bath overnight then an oil soak tomorrow. Front wheel out, bearings checked but still running clean and no play so its back in. Cassette off the freehub for a clean and I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be in this many parts 🤔 It appears the tiny torx bolt was loose that keeps the middle 4 attached to the larger Web, hopefully I can put it together. Derailleur and front ring cleaning tomorrow and rear brake bleed
  12. I think I'll be going to the exercises from when I broke that wrist.... A minute in Hot water, cold water etc until you can't stand it and a range of pulling, squeezing etc and then the rubs at night
  13. Just tried mine around the garden..... Down 2 steps, 3m and a gentle pull of the brakes.... Sharp muscle pain wrist to elbow. Could be another 2 weeks before I get on the horse again properly 😒
  14. for reading if you cant sleep later with the excitement... https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1640/5435/files/605-00-207_RevA_Z2_TuningGuide-Bomber-z2.pdf?1344 https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1640/5435/files/Marzocchi-Fork-Owners-Guide.pdf?1344
  15. Looks as tidy as the pics 👍
  16. I'm sure it is 😏
  17. couple of pics on mine.. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/462441-hu-replacement/ some more info on this thread.. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/454004-xtrons-pe98mtvpl-9-inch-android-stereo-experiment/ https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/434823-what-can-i-replace-my-columbus-with/ things have possibly moved on since these..
  18. To be fair the X-fusion forks don't get bad reviews and they are air sprung. A quick look at retail prices shows 200 ish for x fusion, Marzocchi 500 ish so 300 there, no dropper post so 100+ish there and factor in 11 speed vs 10 speed then to me the VR still edges it. I think you may need to make a shortlist of what you'd like and see what comes available first?
  19. VR has all you need to last a while without upgrading.
  20. so the OH was asking today what i failed at to fall off... more or less the spot and direction i was going...riding parallel to kerbing and heading to the right...how i failed to lift the front up i have no idea current culprit is too much sag in the forks
  21. Vitus generally on most reviews/best of, etc decent specs and value Mate has a Merida with the Bomber forks and really likes them, around 500 ish retail and Fox now own Marzocchi name and I think have started using some Fox internals
  22. I've had a poke around in a non Medical style and in my expert opinion I think it's bruising so a few rest days and see where I am with it
  23. I suppose luckily I was in a group run by our local council under a healthy lifestyle scheme, lead riders are British Cycling trained and we register for each ride with all our details available. Checked over before they let me back on the bike, as I was nearer home than start after a few hundred metres I decided to go home. Lead rider insisted I was accompanied home and had a phone call from the guy who is in charge of the scheme, he rides with us once a month, at 7.30 last night. It will be reported as a 'near miss' as I got home under own power and no 999 call, arse covering but I was looked after. Now deciding whether to go to Hospital or not
  24. Go on then rub it in then 😏 Just really achy now, sudden jarring movement is painful so hopefully bruised rather than broken. It's quite strange thinking back to earlier in the ride that I was thinking that today wasn't 'quite' right? a bit like when you know whether you have 'legs' or not.e-Roottoot no offence... but more of a feeling that cornering, climbing is gonna be difficult and concentration not there either
  25. A curtailed ride today through user error... Must learn to pick up front when going from road to track 🙄 Slow speed, off the side and landed on arm and shoulder. Arm is now very sore, hurts to grip and can't quite straighten fully so I can see a few days off work 😀 and the bike 😒 The kerb was the small cobbles and literally 2" high 🙄 but approached parallel and the front dug in. Scene of the crime was top left just before the straight lines on road home
