Error: selector lever...
Hey, guys! Just an update from me - got my car in the local dealer to check the error and do the first service. They said they'd need to change the whole gear selector mechanism, which they didn't have in stock. So, they ordered it and I'm back in on the 25th of Jan to finish the job. Hopefully, it will hold up until then, as I've got some travelling to do by then... fingers crossed. On a side note - they told me they'd need to change the front diff oil. It has to be done every two years for the vRS. That's the first time I hear about it, but will do it. Just wondered if anyone had the same?

Error: selector lever...
That's useful for sure! I've booked my in for Friday, the 13th of January... 😅 We'll see what they'll do. Hopefully won't need to use the emergency release by then.

Winter wheels
My Dezent wheels came with conical bolts so I use them. When I switch to my summer wheels, i.e. the ones that the car came with, I'm use the originally provided bolts. Don't see an issue with that...

What is the easiest way to lift the plastic trim? Not that I need to do it yet, but just so I know how it's done...

I just looked here - Skoda Octavia 2019 - Wheel & Tire Sizes, PCD, Offset and Rims specs - Wheel-Size.com. It seems that you need 225/40ZR18 92Y 7.5Jx18 ET51 As to the bolts - when I bought my Dezent wheels, I got the bolts with the wheels. Only used four of them per wheel and the original locking bolt.

Is the selector mechanism the same in the 8-speed gearbox and the dsg one? 🤔

Error: selector lever...
Thanks! At least do you know what it is - is it a microswitch as suggested? Mine is going on and off. For example this morning drove for about 15 minutes - no issues. Started again in an hour - the error came up straight away... it seems the first drive after a few hours of the car resting is ok u until I turn it off and then on again. Will definitely call the dealer asap.

Nice one! is the width of the standard MK4 7J? I thought it was 7.5J, or at least this is on the vRS...

That's interesting. Will have a look. Thanks, varoom!

Error: selector lever...
MK4's selector is "drive-by-wire", where as in MK3 is a mechanical selector, as far as I'm aware, so it could be a different fault... The message I get is slightly different - it says there's an error but I can continue driving... 🤷♂️

Thank you! Do you know what this microswitch is... switching as I haven't noticed any issues with changing gears, or switching between D/S, N, R, P? The steering wheel gear selector flaps are working too... Very weird.

Error: selector lever...
Hey, guys! Here's a new one I got yesterday - "Error: selector lever. You can drive on. Please visit workshop." It must be the gear select lever, but everything works just fine. The error disappeared after leaving the car rest for a while. Today it showed up again after driving a short distance (a out 3 miles), stopped the car and then started again after 10-ish minutes... Anybody had this?

Will these winter tyres fit?
If you're looking at 225/40/19, should be fine as this is a standard size for MK4 vRS... I've put 225/45/18 for the winter with Blizzak LM005 tyres.

Winter wheels
I guews it depends on the exact model. I used to have Nokian before, but 16 inch. Can't remember the exact model, think it was D4, or something like this. They were very quiet, compared to the EcoContact5 I had for the summer...

120 Nm by the looks of it... https://www.wheelfitment.eu/car/Skoda/Octavia (2020 - ).html https://www.wheel-size.com/size/skoda/octavia/2021/#trim-20-tsi-eudm-241

Winter wheels
I've gone for 18 inch Dezent TY, 8J - they're winter approved, but I don't think you cannot put snow chains on if this matters... You can put 17 inch wheels as well on the vRS but you have to be careful as some wheel designs won't clear the disks and the calipers...

VRS TSI estate economy
As you know, the economy is very individual, depending on driving style, traffic, terrain, etc.... I have a TSI estate, driving mainly on relatively short distances, with some long journeys as well. Looking at the driving data between refuelling since I got the car at the beginning of May'21 - I've refuelled 50 times, doing on average 264.68 miles per tank, average consumption of 34.46 mpg, average speed of 29.06 mph. That being said, my record is 51.4 mpg over 150 miles of mainly motorway (M1, M25 and some urban) driving on cruise control in the slow lane, average speed of 50 mph. It was a boring drive....
