  1. The Karoq is running far better now after the 2 updates applied to it, the mileage is around 5200 miles and the mpg varies from 41-50mpg depending where and how I drive it (no motor way use but some steep hills and some single track roads plus the usual rural A class type of roads) No doubt as the mileage increases the engine slackens off and runs even smoother, no problems in the cold frosty Highland mornings either.
  2. Eventually got a reply back from Skoda UK regarding the flat battery and bonnet release lever being on the LHS scenario, the reply was most heartening: I have discussed your email with our Technical Support Team who has confirmed your observation. The vehicles are Manufactured in the Czech Republic and the manufacturer takes into account that the majority of the countries are left hand drive. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any other queries. Thank you for contacting ŠKODA UK and have a Merry Christmas. Kind regards Customer Relations Manager ŠKODA UK | Selectapost 34 | Sheffield | S97 3FA Tel: 0333 0037504 Yeah right, Merry Christmas Skoda CZ
  3. Yes I noticed this back in February after collecting the car and driving back home a journey of over 300 miles plenty of grit/salt on the wintry roads found their way into that area, poor design with little thought a case of "Simply Clever" ... NOT.
  4. I ordered my Karoq in the second week of November 2018 and a short time later I got a build date of week 50, the Karoq arrived at the Skoda retailer in Ayr in the second week of January 2019, at the time I was quite impressed.
  5. @Gigi_BC Yes I've noticed that too.
  6. Last year I had considered ordering the SE Tech at one point as it had more kit for the same price as the SE but as a private buyer I couldn't get the same discount on it as I did for the SE, I did get the Triton alloys put on the SE as a no cost factory fit option as at the time I didn't like the look of the Ratikon alloys for some reason or another.
  7. Condensation or water ingress? https://www.eaglelights.com/pages/led-headlight-condensation .
  8. The last time I was in Arnie C Inverness Skoda I couldn't help but smile when one of the salesmen went to open the bonnet of a Superb estate finding that when he opened the passenger front door there was no lever to pull because it was on the drivers side, it should be the same for RHD Karoqs.
  9. This confirms that SUK are just trying to confuse us all to some extent with so many variations in a shortish period of time. e.g. Perhaps some stealers don't apply the Skoda UK pricing for services, * see Breezy's reply to my last post on page 2
  10. Just came across this on the Skoda website, what do others think? https://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/black-friday-offer * My own Karoq isn't quite a year old yet so just realised I won't qualify for the discount Edit 2 Just checked the SUK website and after putting in my reg number it tells me I can get:- This ŠKODA Service Plan provides cover for the first 2 consecutive services, (limited to 1x oil service & 1x oil & inspection service) in line with ŠKODA manufacturer's recommended service schedule. £342 one off payment or £19 per month over 18 months
  11. As a matter of interest what oil did they say they used in the oil and filter change or was it the full interim service the vehicle got? I assume you didn't have to pay the sum of £199 either
  12. Not had a problem with wheelspin on wet or dry roads, the tyres are 215/55 R17 V (94) Hankook Ventus Prime 3 and seem to hold the road well and aren't too noisy, after 4800 miles the tread depth is 5-6mm, the surface of some of the roads around here leave a lot to be desired for. Some wear on the outer and inner edges of all four tyres which was due to the wheels being out of alignment, you would expect them to be OK when they leave the factory but might get put out of alignment during transportation so it looks like alignment isn't checked during the PDI, now is that a surprise? I had to lower the tyre pressures as they were set too high even for the ECO driving pressure setting.
  13. The only time I had courtesy cars was when Skoda UK booked the Karoq in for a fault to be diagnosed and then a couple of weeks later for a new door lock to be fitted to fix the fault, obviously it was warranty work so the dealer was happy. I didn't get offered one when the Karoq was put in to get the 24EU update as SUK left it to me to contact the dealer/retailer as they call it, no recall letter for that update. Just over 600 miles driven since that last update and it has improved the way the engine runs at low revs no end even in the cold frosty weather we've had and no problems with the stop start either although I deactivate it on the odd occasions I visit the city of Inverness ..... too many traffic lights there and they always seem to be red.
  14. Thanks for that, yes I must admit I wasn't too keen to get the Karoq serviced in AC but it hadn't crossed my mind to get the first and any other services done at Hawco while the Karoq is still in warranty. Don't think I'll bother with Perth then
  15. Yes that seems to be the case, I was looking at Thomson and Potter's website and could only find their fixed price service for cars over 3 years old which showed the price for the service. https://www.john-clark.co.uk/skoda/servicing-parts/service-information/3-plus-service/ There is something else called Express Service Options but no detailed info on the website, you would have to phone them to find what is what for your vehicle. https://www.john-clark.co.uk/skoda/servicing-parts/service-information/express/ I'll need to have a chat with Inverness Skoda / Arnie C's service manager next time I'm over there and see what she says about their service options for my Karoq.
  16. Some of this video might help a bit, the Karoq had varioflex seating.
  17. VW 504.00 standard refers to oil spec for petrol engines and VW 507.00 standard refers to oil spec for diesel engines, the same container of oil can be used in petrol and diesel engines if those two VW standards are written on the back of the tin (plastic container)
  18. If I remember correcty at the start of this year it was £99 for the basic oil + filter change service, then it crept up to £119 and now it isn't even shown as a service package option on the website anymore.
  19. Small print near bottom of webpage from the link below: https://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/your-skoda " *According to our Online Service Booking Data, 89% of the network advertise first service at £179 and second service at £249, meaning a combined cost of £428. Compared to £428, the price of a ŠKODA New car Service Plan (under 1 year) at £342, represents a saving of 20%. ŠKODAs National Fixed Price Servicing interim service is advertised at £169 and major service at £279, meaning a combined cost of £448. A ŠKODA Service plan for a vehicle over 1 year old is £405, representing a saving of 9.6%." Skoda servicing costs on the website seem to vary if the car is 1 year or first service or over 3 years old and then there is the long life term servicing favoured by the fleets folk that do over 12,000 miles a year then there are various service plans, it becomes rather confusing for first time VAG owners.
  20. A link to ŠKODA Genuine Engine Oils VW Group Standards:- https://www.skoda-auto.com/other/oils-standards
  21. Yes I agree that after trying a few makes of wiper blades over the years that I've found that Bosch were hard to beat and would use them on the Karoq when the time comes.
  22. Some online wiper blade sellers:- https://www.windscreenwipers.co.uk/karoq-2017-to-2019-twin-pack-windscreen-wiper-blades/ https://www.wiperblades.co.uk/karoq-years-2017-to-2019-wiper-blades/twin-packs https://www.windscreenwipersdirect.co.uk/shopby?find=skoda-karoq-suv-07-2017----90971
  23. Thanks silver 1011 for that, I had a look at the Quantum website and there is quite a choice of oils depending on fixed or extended service/oil change mileage. Anyone know if the VW 508 00 spec engine oil is better for the petrol/gasoline particulate filter fitted to MY2019 vehicles?
  24. This frosty morning the temp was 0.5 degree C and the initial idle speed on startup was back to 1250 rpm for around 20 seconds before dropping to 1000 rpm then 750ish rpm anyway headed off to the local pharmacy and other emporiums a trip of 21 miles in an air temp of 4.0 deg C, drove like a saint and the reported fuel consumption was 47.4 mpg. On the return trip home I drove like a sinner, by then the air temp had risen to 5.5 deg C, and naturally more fuel was consumed with a reported figure of 40.2mpg. Since the last 24EU recall update I've never got near to 50 mpg but then again it has been very cold up here for the last few weeks.
  25. @Teds Purchased the same Castrol 0w-20 oil from Opie Oils less than an hour ago and have just received an email to say the order has been checked and sent (Royal Mail) now that is some service I must say. The oil cost £11.95 for 1 litre and there was a 15% discount for the/my first order which meant that the total payment including delivery was £13.66p https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-162116-castrol-edge-professional-ll-iv-fe-0w-20-vag-fully-synthetic-engine-oil.aspx
