Intake manifold compatibility 2.0tdi
Have tracked down a coolant leak to the charge cooler (camera through IAT sensor and wet inside). I’m trying to track down a compatible part, new genuine is around £800 so looking for second hand or eBay. Anyone know how to confirm compatible part numbers? Latest revision according to the dealer is 04L 129 766 Q There are lots of other revisions out there so not sure what fits. A few AJ revisions on eBay, but can’t track down whether they will fit. thanks

Coolant loss cracked head?
So my apparently trained Vw mechanic couldn’t find the leak. Ordered an endoscope, removed the intake air temp sensor and had a nosey. Whilst looking inside a few drops of water rolled past the camera, so looks like it’s my charge air cooler leaking! Easy to check with a wee endoscope if they can’t get to the bottom of it.

Coolant loss cracked head?
A few ways these engines seem to lose coolant. Mines currently at the mechanics for similar symptoms. in no particular order: water pump leaking egr cooler leaking charge air cooler leak blocked matrix causing overspill from expansion tank head issues

Shuddering when breaking! Please help
Do you feel it in the pedal or the steering wheel?

Stupid question probably, can I remove the battery to clean the terminals and re connect without any on board computer issues?
Should be grand. Did a battery swap with no issues like that

Clutch pedal sticking on Octy VRS Diesel
Slave would be my guess. Had the same at around 100,000 miles. It started quite some time before it finally started sticking to the floor, but only from a cold start so didn’t really pay any attention to it.

Air intake blank vRS TDI?
Keeps the engine bay cleaner. That’s the only thing I noticed

Clutch pedal sticking
Slave cylinder is within the clutch

Front brake caliper slide pins
Big redd ship new pins with silicone grease. Silicone seems to be the preferred option if not going for the expensive trw stuff. have also seen a tip that you can trim a bit of the rubber bush off if they swell, ie shorten it to allow more room for it

How to know if factory trailer prep is fitted
If you don’t have trailer prep, I think the look needs to go back to behind the glovebox. your other query about cooling etc is also valid. There are some models that require upgraded oil coolers, just not sure which. Not sure if trailer prep actually includes this or just the loom. Hopefully someone else has a better idea. There’s definitely info somewhere online about it as read it before I got mine fitted.

Brake pads and disks
What did you need a hex head for? On my Vrs tdi rear brakes there are none. Might be a bit of a red herring for the op. M14 spline needed for the rear carriers, 17mm and 13mm spanner for callipers and piston wind back tool

Clutch problem??
Slave cylinder is within the clutch. Had the same issue at about 7 years old and 80000 miles. Had the clutch and dmf replaced as it was all apart anyway. £1200 is excessive. Close to what the dealer quoted me. Clutch kit and dmf cost £720 and then £160 to fit.

Front brake caliper guide pins part number?
Surely it’s no6 on that diagram you need?

Brake pads and disks
Should only be a sensor on the front pads. I would recommend the trw from AUTODOC. Tried brembo from euros and they warped on me. Their pads also rattled in the carriers. be prepared for the rear carrier bolts. Very little room to get at them and a high torque

The Mk3 Octavia TDI water pump thread
What brands recommended as a replacement? Think my gates pump is leaking since being replaced in 2019 at 50000miles or so. 2014 Vrs tdi 110000 miles

Bonnet Foam Adhesive
3m vhb or number plate pads maybe?

Constant problem with clutch pedal jammed to floor
Was the slave cylinder changed when they did the clutch? slave cylinder went in mine. Exact same symptoms. Pedal sticking to floor. New slave cylinder (clutch and flywheel done at the same time as everything was out) sorted it

VRS TDI front brake pads
Wouldn’t recommend the brembo pads. They knock a bit Sometimes in the carrier. The trw pads are a perfect fit (the callipers are trw I think). Would avoid pagid. Just had to replace my rear pagid pads as the material had come away from the backing

Mk3 VRS TDI DSG Estate - 3rd set of brake discs warped
I had the same issue with brembo discs. Replaced with trw and had no issues

Rough start - facing uphill
There’s an issue with some tdi’s that they take longer to crank. Some have had updated software to rectify. Could be that. Also believe the fuel filter is recommended for change at 40k miles.

Towbar question
Towbar prep was an option from the factory. If not on your car then a cable will need to be run to the glovebox area to connect the wiring properly. Salop towing were the cheapest when I had mine installed a couple of years ago. They did a very good job with a westfalia towbar
