  1. Only if they had no gear oil left, they would have to be even more incompetent than me (which believe me is a real challenge) to mistake the filler plugs as well. I just checked the first posting again to make sure that it wasn't a differential failure on the first vehicle from the same sellers, it says transfer box, they can leak and fail, maybe they did one of their special oil changes on that as well!!! To the OP, what were the symptoms of the failures on both vehicles? From what area came the noises and how would you describe them?
  2. I would say with almost 100% certainty that is the cause of the problem, read Flybynites posting. You have not said what problem you have other than you have been told the diff needs replacing (which it probably does if they screwed up the Haldex oil change), has it become noisy? Were the rear wheel bearngs changed in an attempt to silence said noise? - They should not need doing at this low mileage. Who did the Haldex oil change? Was it the dealer who sold you the vehicle? Subject to your answers to the above I would recommend that you pay to have an independant inspection done, hopefully they will find the diff dry of oil, however if the garage that did it wrong has found their mistake & refilled it then you have little chance. I have made the mistake myself but there are far too many reports of garages doing this and the common theme is always that the failure was a coincidence and they want £4.5K to put right their **** up.
  3. Highly impressive when you consider that the driver to respect the test conditions made no attempt to correct the oversteer, he kept the steering wheel pointed where he wanted the car to go, it was the stability systems that did all the corrections and I doubt that few if any drivers could get through that slalom quicker driving the vehicle without any electronic stability aids. And if the average motorist were to do the same (no oversteer correction) in that vehicle without the stability systems they would at best spin, more likely roll over.
  4. Inside of my rear discs were just like that, the fronts were not much better. Same year vehicle as well!
  5. From ECP thats a given, they probably missed out the first 1 If they have made a mistake I hope Cheapas takes advantage of it, its rare that I really dislike a company with a vengeance but ECP have earned the honour.
  6. You should say fortunately!!!!
  7. The option I think you are referring to is (in French on my computer) "save the audio file in............" Enregistrer le fichier audio sous.............
  8. The pipe goes to the cylinder head where there is an accessible flange, the one that I will use if I decide to fit the blanking plate, from there there is a port that goes through the cylinder head to another much less accessible flange to a pipe to the EGR.
  9. Another one who has mullered the paint removing the badge! Yes you need to remove the double sided adhesive pad. Does the new badge have an adhesive pad?
  10. The video shows **** all for me aside from the timer countdown, the window looks like one for an audio clip but it is silent. Editted. Video by Undertheradar, hovering mouse over it it reveals to be an audio clip, maybe if I could turn the volume up enough it would sound like a brilliant shiny finish
  11. Does my bum look big in this? that refers to the Dodge as the posts overlapped. Amazing how in one photo the rear looks twice as big as the front and in the other photo its the opposite.
  12. The Yeti looks great in those colours!
  13. My poor attempt at ironic humour. An undesired result of VAG making their engines leakproof is corrosion of the structural parts that would normally be protected by the oil thrown around.
  14. Well done, I dont think that mine has that storage tube, just some recesses on the bottom plastic moulding. It was a Sealey but seems to have dissapeared from my Ebay purchase history. I am talking rubbish, it was a Chinese one, the Sealey vacuum extractor is for brakes.
  15. It is a safety issue, there should be a recall on all VAG vehicles manufactured in the last 20 years for modified engine gaskets to ensure oil leaks, you could have eaten your dinner off the sump of my MK2 Octavia (if you rolled the car first!), an accident waiting to happen!
  16. Reversing sensors will not see the towball.
  17. Not sure that discs can be failed on appearance, only if the vehicle fails the brake test, although a cracked disc makes me question that. My discs were absolutely appalling, I had ordered new ones but they had not arrived, the tester who is an old friend was informed, it passed using a Tapley decelerometer for the brake test, I doubt they would have passed on the rollers.
  18. I'm not sure that I have the wiring on the other side from the single wet fart horn, I didn't find it during the front off repairs, wont be a problem for me if they are together.
  19. Excellent thanks, something I have been meaning to do for a long time!
  20. Do you have a link for the horns or what search term to use?
  21. You are not alone! Re the slot in the radio (I refuse to call it infotainment), that is probably for a CD or if you are lucky multiple CD's. The basic radio that was in my Yeti could recieve and play one CD at a time via the slot, my neighbour with a higher spec Octavia his one will swallow up to 6 (I think) CD's through the same slot and load them into its stomach somewhere behind the dashboard.
  22. I think I may have had one of those also now you mention it, mine will have been put in the drawer with all the other (potentially) usefull plastic washers, bungs, clips etc.
  23. What is the dogs preference?
  24. That has been taught a lesson that it wont forget in a hurry!!!
