  1. Perhaps the something wrong is your judgement of level using the dipstick? You think you overfilled the vehicle, you do not say how much you siphoned out or how much you added so it was an unknown quantity. You subsequently sucked (not siphoned) out 4 litres and drained a further 0.5 litre from the drain plug which would be around the correct volume, I am assuming it was the sump and not transmission drain plug. You refilled with only 1.5 litres of oil which is far less than the required volume and would not show on the dipstick but you say the dipstick showed over-full, you did wipe it first before dipping? 1.5 litres would be just enough for oil to circulate and develop enough pressure for the low speed (under 2K rpm) oil pressure warning to not declench but once above 2K rpm the high speed oil pressure warning came on as it should. From all that you have said your engine contains 1.5 litres of oil and should be topped up to the correct level.
  2. I agree but its amazing how well they continue to run and have undiminished fuel economy or power in all but drag race conditions, todays schmoo does not seem to smother engines like back in the day when a decoke was needed well before 40K miles. You are lucky that the throttle valve is upstream, mine was much peppier after I de-schmoo'd it but the ports and valves will no doubt be like yours yet its coping with the extra power after the remap.
  3. If you think the difference between a 45° slope (now down to 30°, 25° and I dont know) and what will almost certainly be less than 15° (building and access to highways regulations) is pedantic then we will have to agree to disagree. It is relevant because the load transferred and heat dissipated by the clutch is very much dependant on the gradient, you say it is a steep slope so the clutch smell is to be expected, I have read reports that the 1.5TSi engine has a flat spot at low RPM and has to be revved slipping the clutch to avoid stalling on hillstarts, I think there was a recall for a software update so I completely understand why you had to abuse the clutch in the way that you did, I have had to do the same myself against my will and the sickening smell that lingered was doubly sickly to me.
  4. My thoughts exactly but I did not want to rub it in!
  5. I feel for you Gaz That painted plastic filler cap cover is going to cost you, her and the third party big time and its all your fault 😆
  6. So did earlier cars have start/stop if they were Greenline models?
  7. J.R. replied to Eilon's topic in Skoda Yeti
Is the thread title a question? If so the unit can be disabled by disconnecting but thereafter any scan for fault codes will show a comms error for the BT module, it needs to be deleted from the installation list.

Do you mean that your phone is asking if you want to pair with SKODA BT? The stock Bluetooth unit lives under the drivers seat but is well protected and hence well hidden.
  9. Why? For aesthetic reasons? For better visibility in rainy conditions? Please say that you arent considering removing one of the wiper blades and putting a larger one on the other spindle because asking about spindle compatibility suggests that.
  10. You wont have done any damage. I know someone who quite literally "filled" their engine with oil, they had to walk into town 2 more times to get a second and then a 3rd 5 litre can of oil. When finally the oil was overflowing from the filler cap and they could not get any more in he put the cap on and started the engine, as it was making a funny noise he phoned me for advice, after getting him to repeat what I thought I had misheard I was crying with laughter 😀 There was no engine damage done. A Russian guy on Youtube made a perspex sump for an engine on a test bed and then filmed it running with higher and higher oil levels, it did not cause any damage, the perspex sump eventually failed because it was bodged by vacuum forming it over the original sump hence was too large, had to use loads of gasket sealant and the fixing bolts holes were too close to the vertical sides of the oil pan where it finally fractured.
  11. They were your words. If you know that petrol can't be ignited from the heat of an exhaust system travelling through the vehicle floorpan then why repeat such nonsense? If you thought there was more to it than meets the eye you would have said so, not that the video was interesting.
  12. Are you sure? According to your profile your vehicle was manufactured in 2013 well before the start stop nonsense started.
  13. The new Remote Park Assist will be available for the second-generation Kodiaq in 2024. It allows the SUV to be manoeuvred into tight parking spaces from outside the vehicle using a smartphone app. The vehicle and smartphone communicate via Bluetooth over a distance of up to five metres. The Kodiaq can be moved forwards and backwards in a straight line using the smartphone as a remote control. During the parking manoeuvre, the system can detect approaching objects and pedestrians and prevent collisions automatically. That is parking, ie manouvring into a parking spot, parallel parking not extricating a vehicle where there is not room to open the drivers door. A stupid feature no doubt dreamed up by the pubescent designers who think having the rear of a vehicle lit up like a Christmas tree whilst making the indicators so tiny and dim they cannot be seen is cool and desirable. Who the heck wants to get out of their car to park it using their phone when the system will already do it hands free with them behind the wheel if they are incompetent drivers? Mind you it would probably park the car beside a telecoms cabinet or similar on the kerb edge which would stop them from getting back in the car 😀
  14. Heat from an exhaust can never ignite petrol, it will vaporise it but it would then need an ignition source. Also you say that the heat from the exhaust under the car ignited the fuel sloshing around in the car, never in a million years. They were probably smoking.
  15. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 In your dreams!!!!!!!!! Was the pedestrian roped up and wearing a climbing harness? The smell is normal considering the abuse the clutch endured, its a very sickly smell since asbestos was banned from use in friction linings and seems to hang around for a very long time, you can still smell it under the bonnet a long time later.
  16. ++++++++++++++++++JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJ No workie! I think you need to explain in more detail what keys you actually press in what order or simultaneously to create the character.
  17. The parameter can be adjusted using VCDS, within a +/- 15% range IIRC.
  18. Oil temperature is only worthy of interest in extremis conditions like some of my extreme towing journeys and even then its more to break the monotony, the only other occasion would be if there was a suspicion that the oil cooler was playing up. I am used to frequently scanning the dials concentrating on what is important. I also scroll through the maxidot several times paying attention to the oil temperature.
  19. As is every other VAG vehicle produced in the last 1/4 of a century, the temperature has to be well above or below for it to indicate anything other than a rock steady 90°c. I miss being able to see the micro fluctuations, since owning a Triumph Stag I have always driven with one eye on the temperature guage (not easy when you only have one working eye!) which has been pretty pointless for the last 25 years. But not in fact, when the waterpump leaked on the Stag I avoided warping the heads as I noticed a micro fluctuation overtemp where there should not have been one, I stopped immediately even though I was only a few hundred yards from home, checked everything, allowed it to cool, refilled and drove home. Given that I now wont see any indication of overtemp until it has reached at least 110°c its even more imperative to check the guage all the time and to stop immediately if it rises.
  20. Comments like the above with or without the swearing abbreviations are worthy of being labelled pathetic. A stranger on the internet has helped them find the solution to what is an important problem to them and that is the thanks they get
  21. It will only be a cosmetic filler trim as the windscreen is bonded to the body behind the area obscured by the black screen printing, the bonding compound is what seals the screen against water ingress. If it concerns you then hoik it back into place with a pick tool.
