Columbus Map Update 2022-2023 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
If that was one of the hobbyist software downloads using the POI exploit to get it in then you could change the FeC yourself if you see where they go in and adjust the checksums. They have taken out the signature. Assuming it's a mib1 high firmware update you have used which has been hacked via the signature method... if you see the FeCs going in. Mib2 high firmware hacks default to the European FeCs. This is where that tool kit comes in. Again it depends whether it's an import model from Europe that needs the FeCs changing. The hack change for the firmware would put that on the European ones hence you could hack the firmware as above. Mr Bonk stuff will default to Europe but you can edit that to Row via just a text editor. That's what I advised one AIO user to do. They got there in the end. Mib1 high if that is what it is, is a bit esoteric. Mib2 high Audi people seem to be loading up their version of Audi AIO so used outside of Europe you need to do the FeC edit.

& it's not even got that fitted 😀.... sister car to the Ateca so I always take an interest.

Is it possible to add lane assist?
@Besimmm has gone a bit quite on this thread but the car as specified only has one reversing camera, the rest is radar on front assist so there is no A5 camera fitted. Ultra sound front and rear parking. https://www.msl.ie/assets/1/product-brochures/skoda/skoda-karoq-price-list-2022.pdf You'd ask to see the build codes if in doubt.

Is it possible to add lane assist?
I have mine permanently turned off !. If you like to drive into pot holes it's the thing. The MQB Evo cars get effected by the one where it doesn't know whether you are driving on the left or right so triggers the no undertaking function of braking when over taking and brakes automatically. Can be coded out. The other one is defaulting to permanently on like stop / start, specific new models now have lane assist defaulted to always on. That can be coded to remember the last setting as at ignition. VCDS/OBDELEVEN can be used on both of these. The technology is bad news if you like to drive a car. The only good thing going for it is TSR. In Wales were 20mph has been introduced on mass in build up areas but still optional for councils to vary the instrument the digitised maps and the beep warning help to keep you driving at the new road speeds which now vary markedly. Saying that people are will fully ignoring the new speed limits but will be done soon enough after the run in period. The other issue with lane assist / TSR is it incorrectly reads the speed limit signs and brakes. Here with the councils going on the spree to put up 20 mph limit signs on side roads overnight on day one of the new rules, TSR reads the side road sign as you go past at bends and junctions. Will reset it once it reads a new segment of digitised road later. These are signs put up in haste without any thought of TSR and auto driving. You can override the breaking procedure. On retrofitting there was one incident where a female hobbyist fitter bought all the parts and fitted the virtual pedal to an Ateca. It didn't work since it needed to be married into the coding of the VAG mothership. Dealers couldnt do it since with the VIN of the car it wouldnt give them the screen to do it. Was beyond Obdeleven / VCDS. There is a German company that sells the parts now. East Yorkshire Retrofit tell be it can now be done, four years ago it couldn't be. They never got the foot wiggle to work or even the button to lift the boot. A tidy sum of money to waste on something that didn't work.

Is it possible to add lane assist?
At the of the day if you have not got a V shaped camera it can't be done for lane assist and I very much doubt lane assist can be post fitted. If it was a DIY task, you'd have to have it calibrated on Vag equipment the same as when the front windscreen is refitted and the camera stuck back on. Always trusty East Yorkshire Retrofit to ask questions like that too if UK based. That is their bread and butter work retrofitting equipment which hasn't been bought with the car.

Is it possible to add lane assist?
It's true that the lane assist camera is used for TSR. I have not come across any that have TSR without lane assist. Seat have not sold TSR without lane assist. Now the lane assist cameras cant be assumed to be configured to TSR. People have tried and its been identified that all lane assist cameras can't support TSR. Seems to be true with VW where I've come across people trying to do that and checking seriel numbers of the lane assist camera you can't. The logic is not in them. It may go the other way.

Is it possible to add lane assist?
But you would have the camera with lane assist. That's the lane assist camera. Chicken and egg.

Columbus Map Update 2024 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
Exfat 64gb SD card is the way to go when it won't fit on a 32gb SD card. I know other have used USB in the past. I got away with the Audi file that MartiniB indexed up which was just for mib2 high, not the joint mib1/mib2 high so didn't bother with the final normal VW / Skoda / Seat release since I'd got 350 already. Apparently Audi always release it like that but on a closed login. You need to have bought mapcare to get at it. Skoda and VW have limitless mapcare free on their units. That Russian website offered the Skoda file. Skoda made a pigs ear of zipping The original mib1/mib2 high combined file. That went across the regional releases. I read the Skoda Community German board to see what they are saying to cross check. They do get stuck on somethings thou which we know here. In most cases best to use the VW linked files where better QA is in play. Audi also seems to be the same. Flaky releases are at the cheaper end of the brands.

Which Map Should I Use
Oh MartiniB cross posted my offering on the subject 🤣 Better off quoting the number xxx means it's probably a mib2 high xxxx means it's probably a mib2 standard xx.xx means it's a mib3 Once one sees the code one can place it if it's a mib2 standard or mib2 high. That code you quote comes out as a part code for each Vag brand. So an xxx would produce 4 or so variants for the brand it was put in. It sits in the code of the map if put in this brand show this code etc. But also in the map information screen will be the seriel release. The other way is MartiniB's. See an Usb C it's mib3 that wilĺ be xx.xx etc. So an SD card in a Skoda means an Amundsen (spelling, mib 2 standard). Working without a map card then it's a Columbus (mib2 high). Mib2high 2015/6 - 2019. Mib3 2020 and on. Prior to 2016, definitely 2014 and before a mib1. Cross over period for mib1 to mib2 2015. Seeing the x business sorts it out. Generally don't work in series part codes but the generic map release across the brands. Go too far back in those x's and you'll hit mib1 🤤.

Is it possible to add lane assist?
It uses a lane assist camera in front of the rear view mirror (the celebrated HD camera that looks like a V... The slot aperture, they are precision set on the glass), can't be done with the other cameras, you need auto steering as well etc. The answer is as above no. You might find that the coding is controlled the Vag mothership, Vin controlled so even if you had the parts you'd be stuck. In the cars coding you have additional modules.

MIB 3 Navigation database - version
Suspect so. Those offline updates are for people that don't subscribe to online navigation updates. @MartiniB is the man who searches out the files and now has a mib3 for the last year and will be ending their online subscription soon or has and is planning to use offline.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2024
Yes we'll know by the next VW update circa June 2024 whether that is it for map updates on the mib2 standard, if they miss that then I think we can say map updates are over. If one has opted to use the old V12 maps and the TMC UK mod, putting the TMC function as more important than the latest maps then it's immaterial. Least for Skoda and Seat users. TMC fix for VW mib2 standard is less universal. See thread on that for VW users in the UK. The November 2023 VW update would be the June 2024 Skoda one so those that take the Skoda website ones will be just as disappointed as everyone else was in November come June 🤣. I suspect VW has ended it's contract early. Shaved a year off.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2024
OK well I notice the MIB3 and the MIB2 High November 2023 releases are now wrapped in a VW web page but Mib2 standard remain as of April 2023. So a move for the maps found. This suggests a production issue on the mib2 standard or the contract has run out with the TomTom provider. Feels a bit like that. The Mib3 and Mib2 high uses Here Maps cartography. So in summary: MIB3 and Mib2 high have been located and indexed onto the VW web page Mib2 standard hasn't been located or indexed.

Tried a long press on the on/off switch to force a reboot into it, in case it's stuck running the software. Other than that pass.

Which Map Should I Use
Mib2 high is this one: That is where I was saying best to use the VW ones of the VW / Skoda ones. I'm on the Audi 350 one on the mega link which has been totally fine. Didn't bother re-installing it for the VW / Skoda release of the same map. The Audi one got leaked early. Audi maps get released on a closed group by Vin.

Which Map Should I Use
Use the first one on the line that MartiniB marks up as VW. Not sure whether they were RoW maps you were interested in but the Skoda issue of how they produced them is still in the Skoda RoW one... on another thread. Better off always picking the VW links they tend to be more sound. The Skoda map files have less QA when they are generated from the source material to the production files. MartiniB's links are the ones identified ready to be published or have been published whilst the website ones will obviously be older if not published yet. The 350 ones I've been using since October is yet to be published by VW. The golden rule, map files interchangeable to between brands. VW one's tend to be less buggy. I believe are all produced by the same company but Skoda grabs the wrong ones / incorrectly zips them etc. Given a choice use the VW links.

Columbus Map Update 2024 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
Right so what we are saying for RoW is use the VW RoW 2024 link. The Skoda link doesn't work same issue as the European one but they fixed it on the Skoda European side but remains un fixed on the RoW. The update does tease the unit to actually put it away... forgotten what it's called so that's the next level of security beyond the signatures. Thats what it fails on when it hangs and stops (ECU may have remembered, it has to pass that test). Least that is what I think Skoda messed up on. Just that Skoda haven't tested very well their files whilst VW does. Better resourced. Map files can be used across brands in the Vag group if the brand people don't mess them up, so they don't work on any brand.

Columbus Map Update 2024 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
When you say recovered ùsing the VW maps did you mean the 2024 one on the list, if so the solution is use the VW one. They are all suppose to be identical at source but if they get messed up in processing then not. Always best not to have brand loyaly, use the VW ones where possible, same files but messed up processing. It what I always do.

Columbus Map Update 2024 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
Have you tried each of MartiniB's posted up files there were issues with the European one now sorted so still may be in the RoW. Which Map Should I Use
If you are doing it off line use MartiniB's pinned post for Mib3 but that will reflect about six months before. Online maps will always being more recent, but question is the value of them. If you have connected services, you probably strike a route across Europe, and it will bring back the online update if it's more up to date... if that's your question. It's normal the website wrapped maps won't be the one MartiniB is posting since they are found maps waiting for staff to amend the web page to point to them. Nothing new here, it's always been like this. It's like a library of old where you see the new books behind the counter but have yet to get a plastic sleeve and a wallet inside them 🤫.

Radio stations Logos database updates
Where's a programmer when you need one 😂. The include list is less than the variant list so it only covers a subset of variants. That's my reading of that code. Whether your unit is on the declared list at the top, pass. But it's not on the include list for sure. Any advance on that anyone. The RW will be rest of the world variants. EU - EU. EE - Easter Europe etc. Other regions. VW and SK, VW and Skoda. No Seat as we said. You just have to try it and see whether it works or not. That's the conclusion that can be drawn from this.

Well it's going to be that your particular unit is left out I reckon. It's those variants that are the units. Did you follow this PDF https://www.phonostar.de/download/vw/MQB3_Stationlogos_CustomerUpdate.pdf Line 86 is closing the parentheses... feels like the old days of Algol 😉... just wondered whether you followed the instructions, if you did, it probably didn't find the Skoda part descriptor of your unit... any one ?.

Radio stations Logos database updates
Over to MartiniB... perhaps it didnt find the part and fell off the end of the script. Historically VW didn't always get all the part codes in for the unit variants of mib2. Possibly a variant of mib3. Worked on MartiniB's thou. It seemed to me they had padded out each VW part with a Skoda part... or it was suppose to be run under a different option.
