Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2026/2027
Well it's not my car I update the mib2 standard maps on I'd get an earful if I messed it up. Workaround does me since it's low risk... zero risk in fact.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2026/2027
@viper42 Bit more than a few years, Exciter aka Stefan did it in 2017. Used a piece of software that opens the path out. Called something or other. Impressed Seat board members at the time and got christianed as "the workaround" found on all Seat board across Europe now. Shuffle one nds file and that's your lot. Exciter takes the credit. Toolbox CID Off why bother when the workaround is so easy. One comes across people from time to time trying to do it that way not knowing what they are doing. A card with a CID isn't that expensive then you just use the workaround. That's if you want two cards. So you hear muttering of expensive SD cards but against that fiddling with the firmware. Retrofitter were quick to flog their solution but a waste of money. Just needs file copy skills. I keep the file in the directory path and just do a replace, my crib sheet method. We also found after people kept loosing that overall.nds file that any previous release to the original would work but not anything after. So one solution for those who deleted the file. Sort of a function of Mapcare, you can install old maps but nothing ahead. Moving that file gives the unit a kick up the backside and generates the navigation FeC for the new map but also generates a flag to say its got more than one navigation FeCs that you can't remove via normal coding. Still thousands of cars are happily running around with this flag set across Europe thanks to Exciter. That didnt come out till later. But not an issue. Mapcare in mib2 is only something that Seat and Audi have to worry about.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2026/2027
Needs the "workaround" on a Seat although some of the other boards neglected to tell you that. Seat was snotty with mapcare unlike VW and Skoda. Workaround is easy enough. One file is retained from the original SD card and overwritten on the new release and Bob's your Uncle. There were a few 2019 models where Seat gave up with mapcare failing that the workaround or the mib2 standard toolkit but that's much more problematic. Every body does the workaround except those that like to risk it. Had the 32gb all Europe and EU1 working for the 16gb cards.

- Error Extracting Map Files for ECE 1 2026.2
Well I download and unzipped in 7zip and didnt get any reports of SLI.NDS error, ditto the built in unzipping program of Windows 11. Suspect its the original download that got corrupted so every time you unzip it, it trips at the same spot.- Error Extracting Map Files for ECE 1 2026.2
Use the Vag suggested one. 7zip. The windows built in one's dont always unzip everything. Also update any old copies of 7zip.- Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2026/2027
- TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
Had another check this afternoon.... nothing. So yes I agree... however we did have the good times for an additional three more years.- TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
One solution or @pcbbc comment 😉 https://www.ttforum.co.uk/threads/fixed-rds-tmc-no-longer-working-in-uk.2032197/?nested_view=1 I just use the built in and if its a long journey check using Google Maps then if their is a road jam and everybody is turning off... just follow them till you are back on the route 😂. It works. TMC traffic reports via Inrix were similar to the old motorway service boards. Gives who is doing the work, gas pipes etc. Narrow lanes etc. Actually more on Inrix than Trafficmaster. Inrix being the Highway Agency system so they knew what was going on and Inrix analysis. Never any traffic round here. Only driving in England where hold ups occur. An English thing 😉. If it is closed down it was going to happen one day as people move to connected cars and use the built in maps and traffic reports or Luddites that stick with what they know, Car Play and Android Auto 🤣. Vag use their own system now supported by Here Maps but data trading with Inrix one can assume.- TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
Nope as far as I know. You have to subscribe to connect services to get it over the. Not free. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=A-Bw6nEdPqg&t=4s&pp=2AEEkAIB- TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
Might be they havent renewed their license. AI Googles come up with imagined AI answers conflating what happened in 2023 Trafficmaster with Inrix now. In the past when Trafficmaster temporary disappeared it reappeared a few days later then went for good a year later. Probably somebody knows something.... waiting for it to be written with a reference.- TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
We'll have to find @pcbbc in his normal habitat https://www.ttforum.co.uk/threads/fixed-rds-tmc-no-longer-working-in-uk.2032197/?nested_view=1 They are not onto it over there. Either a passing technical problem or the powers that be have decided to close the service down via Classic FM.- TMC traffic events no longer being received...firmware update required?
I would agree its currently not being broadcast. TMC crossed out. Whether its temporary or permanent pass. A quick Google on the subject nothing sprung out.- Columbus Map Update 2026-2027 (MIB2 HIGH)
Early birth. It happened with the Mib2 Standard as well and in the previous release. I put it down to the streamlined processing that is now used for mib3/4 with connect services. The need to get them out monthly means no messing about, so us mib2 people get them early. Least my theory. They have shortened the production time from the freeze date from their live system but put them out for use at the normal time. Sits on servers not doing anything if you aren't in the know.- MIB3 Amundsen (MOI) - maps are not updating
I don't think there is anything harmless with these units if you fiddle with the firmware since unlike mib2 they have done a good job of closing down the backend. Dealers and retrofitters have to use approved handshaking vag tools. Apart from disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Firmware updates you do yourself can be dangerous as those mib2 standard ones. Under warranty leave it to the dealer.- Columbus Map Update 2026-2027 (MIB2 HIGH)
Glad you got it back. Mib1 swdl probably works a bit different to the mib2 version but I did wonder whether it would just down grade. Map updates are useful where there have been specific new road builds or estates. Can be annoying when you are in no man's land since the road is new or it takes you off it when a new road is ahead. I tend to check Google maps for long journeys and adjust the route if required. Mib2 high maps may be finishing soon in a year or so but we don't talk about it. Use to drive rental cars in Japan where the maps were not updated. Irritating. As navigator you are juggling with devices but I became a dab hand with their coordinator system but first time the car took us to a temple. The rental guy was suppose have put the hotel in. The temple became a way point. Second year I found their coordinate app system that generates the unique code that Japanese satnav uses. Crafty way of keeping competitors out of the market.- Columbus Map Update 2026-2027 (MIB2 HIGH)
Its not the software that can be updated to give you mib2 high. Lack of zoom is that it has half installed the map file which is only designed for the mib2 high. The software release code you have on their feels like a map release. It isn't. Map file release 370 and above are for the mib2 high only, prior to that a joint release. You aren't the first since as I recall an Australian just had the view of Australia with the zoom gone. Basically when Vag decided they were not releasing for mib1 high anymore loading mib2 high files into a mib1 gives you that.- Columbus Map Update 2026-2027 (MIB2 HIGH)
& this is a mib1 video you need to find the manual download menu as the one above. Then you force an update that takes you backwards. Manual download then fumble the bits you want to update and then start. Assuming the manual method is in the mib1 system. When he said two lines on the other video. Manual, select the elements and start. From 3.42. I can't see the see the "manual" method... but its probably there. Perhaps someone will jump in if going backwards is not a thing that mib1s do.- Columbus Map Update 2026-2027 (MIB2 HIGH)
- Columbus Map Update 2026-2027 (MIB2 HIGH)
Yes that's Mr Fix its videos.videos. Vag dropped support for Mib1 so whilst the release is a dual release Vag left out the mib1 components. If you got hardware prior to 2015 it's mib1. 370 after was the change over. To get out of this mess you need to install an old map that corresponds to your unit. You can use the developers menu which in mib1 isn't locked down. A long press on MENU gets you into a menu where you will see SWDL with any luck. You then play around with that with the 350 map file. Install all. Keep the door open to keep the unit powered up after 40 mins or so you should be OK. Never used swdl on a mib1 but I know people who have on boards. If like mib2 it should fix it although I do recall a post where there was an issue of a filled memory ?. But basically swdl allows you to go backwards as well as forwards into map updates. 350 is your last mib1 high map release after that you aren't suppose install the combined file since its missing the element you need. It's just a curiosity of how they historically did a dual release. Best of luck.- MIB3 Amundsen (MOI) - maps are not updating
- Radio stations Logos database updates
If its a mib3 which it sounds like it is 2020 on then individual radio logo update it is not possible. Mib1 and 2 it was. The logos are locked down so you can use the link @MartiniB posted at the top for bulk update. You have to make representations to Phonostar the keepers of the logos for specific individual ones. Vag became much more security conscious with mib3 so locked down unsigned imports to the unit which logos use to be for the singular import as per mib2 (did a few individual ones in the UK).- Amundsen MIB2 randomly restarting while driving
Well when this issue occurred on the partners mib2 standard which yours is, it was due to the jpeg on a media file be played. Went through a process of isolating the problem. Trying it with the map SD card out, still did it. In this case the graphics artwork which was embedded in the music file was far in excess of 512x512. It is specified certainty in the Seat manual the size. It was a home brew music file someone had created from an album and embedded this massive file which had been taken from album art files. Mib2s are like very basic home computers of old. It had created memory overflow / leak so the data of the jpeg went out of bounds and crashed the unit. The solution was to remove all of the embedded jpegs on the SD. There are manipulation programs to do this. You'd have to check what I used on the Seatcupra site since I forgotten. Adjusting the embedded jpegs on music files was popular at one time hence the programs that were written for it. So yes pull the SD cards out and see whether it reboots with them out. Find out whether it's due to a music file. If so you need to remove any large embedded jpegs. Clear as mud. Edit Mp3tag was the program I used to fix it.
