  1. That bit is identical to obdeleven Press the button “5F Information Electr.” Press the button “Adaptation - 10” In the “search” box type “TMC” Then type in and save 😉
  2. 2016 that would be a mib2 high. The later would be sounds like mib1 high. Before my time. Mib2 maps you update with @MartiniB excellent links. 330 is the release. You need a 64gb standard SD card to be safe... gets marginal on 32gb. If using a Mac you need to use cleanmydrive after its on the SD else it will trip on the signature due to mac rubbish in the download. PCs are fine. That's the map. Then it's @pcbbcpost Horses for courses. If you want DIY you buy an https://obdeleven.com/en/home/62-pro-pack-0758277987813.html That's the black one works with Android or iOS. White one cheaper Android only. You can mix and match just the device and Pro license. Some people buy from Amazon on next day delivery then buy the Pro license online. Then once installed you do a scan. Then in to the 5f unit. Adaptions. Search TMC. Put the correct code in as per pcbbc, save long hold on green button of app. Reboot the unit. 10 second hold on, on / off. Job done. My example on the 14 code for mib2 highv
  3. Yes just look at their % approval score. Where my Skoda 32gb came from and I did make one using a so called Gold card for fun. Cheaper to buy a Vag card off ebay. Basically the CID on all Vag cards are interchangeable. How Vag makes money on sales of map cards.
  4. Didn't touch distributed control system till the Vag platform 😍.
  5. The 12 points Seat workaround above are with a valid VAG SD card ofcourse. They are not fussy whether it's VW, Skoda or Seat mib2 cards. You need that for the CID. So for a two card set up you need a second Vag card if the software isn't hacked to take any card using the toolbox mentioned. The Seat workaround you deploy if the map is later than the card (higher number). For those downgrading maps you wouldn't need to. Ie. If you had v11 card and a Seat you would need the workaround. V13 say you would not need it in that instance for V12 with the mods above.
  6. Two cards. Putting the fix to one side the standard unit isn't fixed to the card except on Seat where it's fixed to the release of the card except you can use the "workaround" to sort that out. The work around is this: Steps: Download the latest standard MIB2 maps on the infotainment go to settings, safely remove, sd1 card remove sd1 card from glove box slot long press on the on / off to reboot it a couple of times insert sd card in to computer copy and paste all contents to a directory on your computer Format the SD card keep it as fat32 and leave format settings as default in file explorer (don't forget to push the card lock mechanism to off) (ditto in a MAC or delete all from the SD card) Copy the new downloaded map version to the SD card (after unzipping it) Replace /maps/EEC/EEC_WLD/OVERALL.NDS on the SD CARD with the one from the original SD card eject the sd card (on a MAC run CleanMyDrive on the SD card - then eject) Inserted the card into the card 1 slot in glove box whilst infotainment is off power on and go to navigation Yet to be tested by me is whether you can do the @pcbbc / @bigade1 fix the overall.nds fix.... I'm away, I'm sure you can. I envisage that if you want to use the latest maps use one card, if you want TMC but old maps, the other card. We use the car with the mib2 standard in it as a rural run around. Single track roads... queues don't get on it. If heading on busy roads you might swap cards. For rural Wales think TMC doesn't add much. Hit the M4, the valleys and England TMC would come in handy. Hence the option of two card working. Not ideal. Best solution is with mib2 high. You need to code this yourself or get someone else too. Offers above. Any self respecting IT guy should be able to do it on the mib2 high. The car runs a distributed control system which VCDS / Obdeleven Pro acts to program each component part. 1970s computer thing. Now they call it DCS... that's the only thing that was changed in 50 years 😂. I remember our computer science lecturer getting excited about it and that other fangled thing of meshed computers 🤔 (Arcnet to become internet).... Not forgetting microcomputers. Punched cards, line printers, Teletype 45s and paper tape. Well if you can do that you can program your car.... without the punch cards 😉.
  7. Getting an alternative unit. People look at Android based products and I think Pioneer. The old mib1 chestnut solution. Not sure how good they are. The other solutions for DIY for mib2 are now out on the thread plus a working one for mib1.
  8. Seat mib2 standard guys have to stick with v12 this one and do your overall.nds business if they want TMC as posted by Pcbbc above under: MIB2STD 2020 Maps with TMC Update for Amundsen/Discover Media/Technisat here Seat guys DON'T forget the overall.nds file copy from your original map the unit is attached too. You need this since you haven't got the navigation life time FeC that VW and Skoda have. I haven't tested the process on a Seat since I'm away. I quess it works. The mib2 high whatever brand attached to it needs the TMC set via coding to 14 or the other code 32782 via VCDS or Oddeleven Pro as posted again by Pcbbc above. That's dependent on whether it has no online service 14 or online 32782. Peak a boo in the TMC coded set field 15->14 XXXXX-> 32782 We say XXXXX since some vary by brand within AVG. here 14 also works with mib1 reported here.
  9. Presume we can do the two card system then since the unit isn't modded. Use the old maps with TMC mod if you want TMC or latest maps without. Now just latest maps with TMC to go 😍. Well done all.
  10. We want all of this stuff if enthusiasts are going to crack taking mib3 maps and getting them into mib2 high maps for the day VAG pulls the plug on mib2 high maps. Need about 15 years on built in maps not 5 years. Where their support is woeful on products. A car will last 15 years, not 5 years as they plan, or less if you need TMC.
  11. Hopefully we'll get an answer that doesn't involve the toolbox and works with the latest version 🤔.
  12. Better not vanish in the next two weeks till I get home.
  13. Going to be the AS platform extended to V12 http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Navigation_System_Maps#Platform_AS
  14. They normally twiddle them around in the naming so I reckon MartiniB will find them.
  15. Looking for v12 @MartiniBfor @bigade1special sauce above.
  16. Thats one for @MartiniB I did start looking but with changes in servers. If @bigade1can say what it is then I'm sure MartiniB can find it. The Ozzies were using 8021 we would need 8020 for Europe if that's the last working one we are talking about.
  17. I'm still interested in the mib2 standard solution. My experiment didn't get anywhere. Wait till @bigade1publishes their fix but that if it uses the mib2 toolbox / kit whatever will be fussy to the firmware installed and as you say we are told old maps. I can see as I have said before you could run a two card system if you could use your old card if you needed TMC and the latest maps if not. Depends where you are driving. Mib2 high is a more flexible system to configure into another TMC provider set. It's the way it was setup to do that. On the thread we have mib1 solutions the same as mib2 high (the non SD card system), Just leaves mib2 standard and any pre mib ?. Pass on models prior to mib1. Most youngsters don't see a need for built in satnav using Android Auto / Cap Play so it's not really a concern if your car supports that, it won't affect second-hand value. Others want to be able to get in and drive without fumbling with the mobile phone or are driving in locations where 4G is patchy / abroad. Depends on whether you are in the first group or the second group. I would not trust my mobile device to operate in real time. We await @bigade1
  18. On mib2 standard not that I'm wearing my auditors hat but ID 12 editting into the ID 15 bank would look promising. It's missed out of the non online bank, the 15. But appears on the online bank of codes. That feels to me its being offered if you have the online subscription but not if you don't. You edit 2 to 12. Bit of a synergy going on there. Toss that one in. Whether you need old maps, pass. I'm probably going to be told I'm wrong.
  19. Mib2 high maps are locked down from tinkering the files by the signature, Mib2 standard are not. VCDS locks into coding thats already in those files. The toolbox stuff allows you to fiddle with the material once in the unit if VCDS coding isnt sufficient. For the mib2 high and mib1 standard VCDS does the job.
  20. Scrap... 🤣. The AI that Android uses on word correction these days has a sense of humour.
  21. There are web pages on that but will probably cost you £800 or something. East Yorkshire Retrofit use to sell mib2 highs but now they don't like them. It was a popular thing to do to retrofit a mib2 high inplace of mib1s. You can't pick one up of a crap car place since they have to be prepped so they are no longer linked to the car they were attached to. I'd wait for that Mib2 DIY standard solution. I wouldn't hold your breath on any official solution.
  22. No the download is protected by the sla1 bank of signatures that you see. Whilst @pcbbcthought you can make changes looked at it several years ago and concluded it wasn't possible. It's an encryption method. Clever method using pure mathematics you'd study if you were doing a degree in encryption or pure maths probably. Would be a GCHQ sponsored degree. They can be cracked by brute force methods with Cray computers. That was a few years ago. You have a private key and a public key. The public key is used in an algorithm to test that the files with the signature are valid and unchanged (where the pure maths comes in). The public key used by Vag is known but thd private key isn't. If you sow them up with your own private key the unit needs to know the public key. That is obviously locked in the unit. The weakness was that Vag left a loop hole in the POI import. Any additional code can be added to the POI import and it sales into the unit as being valid code. No signature check is made. Those Mr Bonk group members found this so the toolkit for mib2 standard and high exploit this. The guys have now gone on to produce their own modified firmware identified as AIO, if you check that firmware it has no signature but tumbles into the unit on a POI import then bumps in on the back. I don't think anyone has rewritten a map import on this basis. All the checksums have to be recalculated since it uses them but you wouldn't need the signature check. Clever soles that write the AIO firmware. That's used fairly commonly now. Doesn't please Audi who employ contractors to chase the file releases down. Those toolboxes having got into the unit marry themselves to the firmware using a developers hook. Each firmware release needs its own module written. The toolbox checks whether it has one for your firmware, if so you graft it in. If not a kind mib2 enthusiast may step forward and write the piece of code. That's what someone did for me a few years back. They then added my firmware release module to the release. They may have automated that now. The mib2 high package then gives you retrofitter options. This is where the Ozzie people wanted their code added to give additional functionality. As it is we don't need this for the UK task on the mib2 high unit. Just simple vcds coding is required. These are the public keys in all VAG units. They got published on a web site. It doesn't do you much good though. You can hand crank the logic with that module function. Eigenvalues and eigenvectors or something. A few years ago since I did my maths degree. Thought I'd raise to the occasion and with the help of a crypoto website worked it through. Somebody else fancied changing the primary key in the unit this was before the Mr Bonk stuff came out where you just bypass the SLA1 signatures. The secondary key is in a chip that can't be changed so that approach doesn't get you anywhere. 9a 49 9b 04 8b ae bf ac 83 3f de 81 ba 80 30 93 05 b6 6f ed 54 59 c3 8f 60 f6 10 a9 aa 5a 19 10 05 17 05 8f ea 49 d3 75 e3 f9 e1 54 4e 17 ee c9 c3 c1 dd 7d 30 16 de b1 55 45 fd 9e 18 00 51 22 d6 a1 33 10 95 c0 dd cf 43 a1 c2 fe c0 bc aa 1c fe 48 49 25 89 9e dd 71 b0 d4 08 cf 16 bf 10 e2 e1 bc 70 a3 52 f2 e6 54 0b 60 05 5a a7 52 ec 4a 83 65 f7 68 19 66 f4 d5 46 c7 38 b1 6b 5a 1f 13 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 03 1e 0b 93 73 dc b4 93 b6 12 ce 09 c4 03 e9 21 fc 9b 4e 97 ce 55 c5 b4 c0 80 ad 17 2d ca 91 4d c1 87 45 52 ca 4a 95 96 9e 61 ff c3 24 a5 91 5b d1 83 80 85 90 8f 99 8f 76 ba 5f b2 09 86 db 86 c1 b5 89 b9 58 75 4e d5 d5 aa 08 af 2f 16 3e 33 a6 c6 46 77 dd 32 e0 98 f0 ec f9 14 6b af 35 05 3c 23 aa 8b a8 76 fb 2d 0c 6e d7 2f 0b b3 dc 77 6e b8 74 14 1c 95 c1 6f ff 0c bb 4a e9 ee 70 a2 3c So yes you can hand check that the unit is going to reject your modified update before you load it up.... as said this was before they found the POI import approach.
  23. That 14 also works for mib1 Amundsen (that will be all mib1 standards with the final map update) as reported on the thread and I suspect the mib1 high as well. Perhaps a surprising finding. If its a mib1 standard without later maps you'd have to update the maps first, I say that since I've got a pretty original mib2 standard map without tmc (~2015). They must have rolled out tmc later since I find it in those copies. Seat we need a file from the early maps to fix when people loose their map card to repair the unit. A mapcare thing.
  24. Reckon you wont get away without coding the head unit on any solution.
  25. It's April 2023 when it went. Yes @bigade1 I'm willing to wait to test it on the mib2 standard that's Amundsen for Skoda folk, Discover Media for VW folk and Seat standard for Seat folk. The mib2 high fix for Columbus, Seat Plus and Dicovery Pro for VW folk is the re coding posted by @pcbbc 32783 is online traffic permitted + Trafficmaster RDS TMC 32782 is online traffic permitted + ITIS/INRIX RDS TMC 15 is NO online traffic, Trafficmaster RDS TMC 14 is NO online traffic, ITIS/INRIX RDS TMC Those work on Audi as well. For that one the golden rule is if you see a two number code in the TMC coding slots it's going to be 14 to go in there. Five character it's going to be 32782 On the last one Pcbbc had a different original 5 character code to David55 but the the fix was 32782. It's just the may VW and Audi had set it up. The example on a mib2 high using Obdeleven Pro I posted above. The 5f menu, adaptions, search tmc. Look at the code. Replace. Reboot unit. It works.
