  1. I'd take out the pollen / cabin filter and do a clean with one of the air con cleaning bomb products ... https://www.holtsauto.com/holts/products/air-con-cleaner/ first before fitting the new filter. Any new filter will do.
  2. Interesting - and I actually did this on my Vectra many years ago, and my Saab 10 years ago (by adding a bulb and wiring across). The thing is I can't actually remember the last time I had to use my fog lights. Does it still get foggy anymore? If I did this mod I'd be looking forward to the fog, its bad enough hoping for snow when the winter tyres go on
  3. Very nice. 41,000 euro though. My 6 month old 6k miles vRS was £18,800. Much as I'd love one the thought of the depreciation is killing me. I've had new cars and they are great, but from a financial point of view not a good move. Lease in all its guises works out roughly the same cost anyway. For now I'm going to say its the nearly new I'll be looking at next. When I bought the vRS just over a year ago I intended to keep it years. I love it, so why am I tempted!!
  4. I do get quite a few cars pushing a bit, either that or they just like driving close and looking to overtake when there's no chance. I have had exactly what you describe Rooty, an Audi cabriolet of some description, 4 pipes at the back. We were stopped at traffic lights and when they changed he raced off and left me for dead. The fact I had stop n start on, was in eco mode, and don't race anyone in a 30 limit ever probably didn't stop him being convinced he left me for dead. (It was pretty quick to be fair though!!)
  5. If you do 5k miles or less a year I'd trade it for petrol or electric. My last diesel was fine when I did some miles, it got worse and worse when I only (usually) did short trips. But yes, change the oil. Low mileage can be worse for oil than high mileage. It doesn't get hot enough to evaporate condensation and gets contaminated. Beat me to it by seconds ...
  6. I just noticed today I'm about to hit 13k miles in the Octavia. It's 2 years old in December and has had 1 DIY oil change so far. I suppose I'll have to look for somewhere to get it serviced. The DIY oil change was relatively simple except I'd never seen a plastic sump plug before
  7. But is there any point if your aim is to drive like a nun and achieve the best possible MPG?
  8. If its like the Octavia use the in car display screen, its under vehicle settings I think - you have to scroll down to find it. Check all the pressures are correct and then confirm in the menu screen.
  9. Great thread, thanks bigadel. Not tried it yet but I'm going to do this. I have some experience of detecting a speed camera earlier in the year. I used the much slower 'wait for the letter and attend an online speed awareness course' method, your method is much better IMO.
  10. OK a HPV then. Heavy Passenger Vehicle. 1000nm, I bet it nearly ripped the rollers off when tested.
  11. For those who don't want to download the image it shows the dash mileage flicking between 000 and 0000 every few seconds. I have no idea what its doing sorry.
  12. I can't really see the advantage of having to check my screen to see what a traffic sign showed. I have it on the vRS and don't use it. I'm not a massive fan of excessive tech taking your eyes off the road, its so easy to be distracted anyway.
  13. My mate took his car for a service and opted for the "Extended scope" option without knowing what it was. Big mistake IMO.
  14. I think Superchips offer a warrantee if they chip it, the terms used to be quite extensive - but then I think they were in financial trouble recently.
  15. No winter option? If you had a high / low range like the off roaders you'd actually get lost in the gearbox. I never thought I'd need it but the little visual display of what gear your driving in does come in handy even with a manual.
  16. They could have discussed chipolata sausages and whether it was a bit chilly in the operating theatre if they'd wanted to make you feel worse
  17. Ah ok. So not all then. Mine has the 7 speed manual. 6 forward and 1 reverse
  18. Which surely proves all the alien abduction theory's: Your memory is being wiped. Pay up.
  19. Really knowledgeable about wheels and tyres, I've never really got my head around all the numbers. Great post.
  20. I don't know why - probably me when I set it up, but I had to go into permissions on the app and allow it to access mobile data before it would work - and that was after the faff at the Skoda dealer who didn't know anything about it when I took my license down.
  21. Yes. Better than rusty metal painted IMO. I must have been dreaming though - you can't be trading this car.
  22. CL250 looking like it was inspired by the SS50 for those old enough ...
  23. The link was superb, the "Sold as seen" motor might be a bargain if they sold it cheap because of all these faults!!
