  1. In the winter, summer tyres will often have much less grip than winter rated tyres such as all-season tyres with the 3PMSF (Three Peak Mountain SnowFlake) symbol. Perhaps fit four new wheels with winter rated tyres, such as 255/50R19 103T 8Jx19 ET45 5/112 57.1...and leave the summer wheels for summer. Check in the car's CoC (Certificate of Conformity) that this exact wheel specification is approved by Skoda...or the insurance company might consider it a modification. This size is listed in wheel-size.com, but they do often make mistakes...hence the need to check the car's CoC. 8Jx19 ET45 5/112 57.1 steel rim 1EA601027A 03C https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/1ea601027a03c-steel-wheel-disc-skoda-48661.html Wheel trims for 8Jx19 ET45 5/112 57.1 steel rims 5LA071459 https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/sada-poklic-enyaq-elroq-19/p/5LA071459 8Jx19 ET45 5/112 57.1 alloy rims https://www.skoda-parts.com/catalog/enyaq/spare-parts/accessories/wheels-steel-aluminium/aluminium-wheel/19-891.html As you can see from an extract of the Enyaq owner's manual below, both 235/55R19 8Jx19 ET45 and 255/50R19 8Jx19 ET45 wheels are approved by Skoda for the use of snow chains (with links and locks no larger than 9mm). Technical data and specifications (from Enyaq owner's manual)Permitted rim and tyre combinations for mounting snow chains: Rim dimensions Tyre dimensions 8J×19 ET45 235/55R19 8J×19 ET45 255/50R19 Only use snow chains with links no larger than 9 mm, including locks.
  2. The biggest front brake discs on the Octavia MK4 are 340x30mm, so 17" rims will clear the front brake calipers. If 17" rims didn't clear the 340x30mm front brake discs, you wouldn't be able to use snow chains...and it wouldn't make sense for Skoda to sell such a vehicle. Technical data (from Octavia MK4 owner's manual)Permitted rim/tyre combinations for mounting of snow chains: Rim size Tyre size 6.5Jx16 ET46 205/60R16 6.5Jx17 ET46 205/55R17 Only fit snow chains with links and locks that are no larger than 9 mm. SKODA ACCESSORY CATALOGUE The Skoda accessory catalogue lists four 6.5Jx17 ET46 5/112 57.1 alloy rims for the Octavia MK4, as follows. 3. The usual spare wheel specification for the Fabia MK3 is 185/60R15 6Jx15 ET38. As you can see in the chart below, the 215/45R16 wheel is 18mm wider than the 185/60R15 wheel. The 185/60R15 wheel fits in the wheel well, whereas the 215/45R16 wheel is probably too wide. Actual inflated width of tyre (measured from sidewall to sidewall, at widest point) 185/60R15 6Jx15 ET38 195mm 215/45R16 7Jx16 ET46 213mm (18mm wider than 185/60R15)
  4. It would appear from Jurid on autodoc that the brake disc sizes on the Kodiaq MK1 fit the following pattern. However, it's always best to use more absolute methods such as using the car's build codes (and cross-referencing to a Skoda parts catalogue) or taking physical measurements, etc. Kodiaq MK1 brake disc sizes (engines with less than 150PS) 312x25mm front brake discs 300x12mm rear brake discs Kodiaq MK1 brake disc sizes (engines with 150PS) 314x30mm front brake discs 300x12mm rear brake discs Kodiaq MK1 brake disc sizes (engines with more than 150PS) 340x30mm front brake discs 310x22mm rear brake discs
  5. gknautomotive lists both 6Q0511115M and 6Q0511115AL rear springs for the Fabia MK2 1.2TSI estate. 6Q0511115AL are stiffer than 6Q0511115M, so 6Q0511115AL should stop the rear end sagging so much when loaded up. 6Q0511115AL rear springs on autodoc https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/6q0511115al?supplier%5B%5D=253&supplier%5B%5D=246&supplier%5B%5D=32&supplier%5B%5D=85 6Q0511115AL rear springs on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392296331679 gknautomotive online spring catalogue https://www.gknautomotive.com/en/Aftermarket/online-catalogue/
  6. What engine power is Is that the 86PS or 105PS version? The 105PS version probably has 288x25mm front brake discs, whereas the 86PS version probably has 256x22mm front brake discs. However, do check yourself to be sure what size front brake discs are fitted to the car. 288x25mm front brake discs need at least 15" rims to clear the front brake calipers, whereas 256x22mm front brake discs need at least 14" rims to clear the front brake discs. Perhaps look for a tyre pressure white label inside the fuel flap. If 14" tyres are listed on this white label, then 14" wheels should fit the car...ie. have the smaller 256x22mm front brake discs. Some of the Fabia MK2 wheel sizes 165/70R14 5Jx14 ET35 185/60R14 6Jx14 ET37 195/55R15 6Jx15 ET43 205/45R16 6.5Jx16 ET38 205/45R16 6.5Jx16 ET43
  7. That should read, "B8 is for lowered ride height, and is only available for non-DCC" and "B6 non-DCC and B8 non-DCC have a monotube design and B6 DCC has a twintube design". Monotube is better (and more expensive) than twintube".
  8. The alloy rims on that Czech website can be ordered from any VAG parts department in the UK...because those rims are in the Skoda accessory catalogue.
  9. On the Fabia MK4, the offsets vary depending on the rim diameter. As you can see in the chart below, the Fabia MK4 offsets range from ET38 (for the 14" rims) to ET51 (for the 17" and 18" rims). Offset for Fabia MK4 rim 185/70R14 5Jx14 ET38 185/65R15 5.5Jx15 ET40 195/55R16 6Jx16 ET45 215/45R17 7Jx17 ET51 215/40R18 7Jx18 ET51

  11. Eibach R18812 lowered ride height front springs and Eibach R21875 lowered ride height rear springs should provide a similar ride height to a car that left the factory with lowered ride height, eg. a SportLine.
  12. Sportline springs are lowered ride height. B6 is for lowered ride height, and is only available for non-DCC. B6 non-DCC and B8 non-DCC have a better monotube design compared to the B8 DCC twintube design.
  13. Superb MK3 2.0TSI/2.0TDI hatchback FWD (Front Wheel Drive) Treat the below numbers as only approximate. My best guess is 30mm front drop and 25mm rear drop...assuming a 5Q0411105GM/3Q0511115AK starting point. The actual front and rear drop could vary significantly from this estimate. 14. ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) VAG Skodas have so far used offsets ranging from ET35 to ET54. So there are no Zero or Negative offsets for these cars, ie. all of the offsets are positive. However, the below diagram illustrates what Zero and Negative offsets look like...as well as positive offsets. The Yeti uses offsets between ET45 and ET50. Coming from the standard 17" Yeti wheel size, ie. 225/50R17 7Jx17 ET45, and going to 6Jx16 ET50 or 6.5Jx16 ET50 will move the centre of the wheel 5mm inwards. Increasing the offset from ET45 to ET50 will make the wheel look a little more sunken in the wheelarch. When going from ET45 to ET50, the front track and the rear track are both reduced by 10mm. ET means "Einpress Tiefe", which is German for offset...so ET45 means "offset is 45mm". The offset is usually stamped or cast into each rim in the format ETxx (or ET-xx when the offset is negative). 15. With aftermarket alloy rims, you usually need different wheel bolts (of the correct length) because they tend to use cone shaped (conical) seats whereas VAG rims use ball shaped (sphere/spherical) seats. With aftermarket alloy rims, you usually need spigot rings because Skodas have a 57.1mm centre bore. Aftermarket alloy rims tend to have a centre bore bigger than 57.1mm.
  16. The only wheels that Skoda approve for snow chains on both the Kodiaq MK1 and Kodiaq MK2 is 215/65R17 6.5Jx17 ET38. Skoda also list a 7Jx17 ET40 rim, but that specification is not approved by Skoda for use with snow chains. 17. Both 6Jx17 ET45 and 6Jx17 ET48 are listed in the July 2019 owner's manual for the Octavia MK3 RS. 18. Skoda produce the CoC at the time the car is manufactured. The CoC doesn't get updated. When a new model Skoda is first released, Skoda will have already decided all of the possible wheel sizes. 17" wheel sizes (for Octavia MK3, not including Scout) 205/50R17 6Jx17 ET45 (suitable for snow chains) 205/50R17 6Jx17 ET48 (suitable for snow chains) 225/45R17 7Jx17 ET49 (not suitable for snow chains) 225/45R17 7.5Jx17 ET51 (not suitable for snow chains) When it comes to wheels, many EU countries require a strict adherence to what listed in the car's CoC, eg. 205/50R17 6.5Jx17 ET46 won't be listed in an Octavia MK3's CoC. Compared to 205/50R17 6.5Jx17 ET46 (not Skoda approved), 205/50R17 6Jx17 ET48 will give more protection against kerbing damage...because the tyre's sidewalls bulge out more from the rim. One non-standard option that could be used without snowchains is 215/50R17 6.5Jx17 ET46. This would give similar rim protection from kerbing damage as fitting a 205/50R17 to a 6" rim width...because the sidewalls in both cases bulge out a similar amount. 225/45R17 give the rims very little protection from kerbing damage, even if fitted to the narrower 7" rim width. For good protection from kerbing damage you need to look at 50 aspect ratio tyres or higher...fitted to relatively narrow rims. This is where 205/50R17 fitted to 6" rim width or 215/50R17 fitted to 6.5" rim width give a big advantage compared to 225/45R17 fitted to 7" rim width. 225/45R17 fitted to a wider 7.5" rim width gives even less protection from kerbing damage than a 225/45R17 fitted to a 7" rim width...b Michelin Alpin 7 215/50R17 95V XL (Euro label C B 71dB) (Winter tyre) (not a Skoda approved size, so might be illegal in Switzerland and other strict EU countries) https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rshop/tyre/Michelin/Alpin-7/215-50-R17-95V-XL/D-134881 The 205/55R17 tyre size in the below listing only applies to the Octavia MK3 Scout. Other Octavia MK3 models use a smaller outside diameter 205/50R17 tyre size...with this 6Jx17 ET48 rim specification. 6Jx17 ET48 5/112 57.1 alloy rim CRYSTAL 5E0071496A 8Z8 (204.34 Euros is about £177.37) https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/5e0071496a8z8-aluminium-rim-17-crystal-skoda-43499.html 6.5Jx17 ET46 5/112 57.1 alloy rim LYRA 5E3071497AC 8Z8 (215.38 Euros is about £186.95) https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/5e3071497ac8z8-aluminium-rim-17-lyra-skoda-41403.html The tyre size with the biggest outside on the Octavia MK3 RS is 225/35R19. As you can see in the chart below, the non-standard 215/50R17 has an outside diameter 1.0% bigger. As a general guide, up to 1.5% bigger outside diameter than standard is generally considered acceptable. For example, the speedometer is unlikely to under-read, and the gearing shouldn't feel much different to standard. Outside diameter of tyre 225/35R19 640.1mm 215/50R17 646.8mm (1.0% bigger outside diameter compared to 225/35R19)
  19. The only 17" wheel sizes shown in the Octavia MK3 RS owner's manual that are suitable for snow chains are 205/50R17 6Jx17 ET45 and 205/50R17 6Jx17 ET48. The only other 17" wheels that are listed on the Octavia MK3 RS's CoC (Certificate of Conformity) are 225/45R17 7Jx17 ET49 and 225/45R17 7.5Jx17 ET51. 6.5Jx17 ET46 won't be listed on the CoC for any Octavia MK3...it's an Octavia MK4 rim size. The Octavia MK4 uses a 205/55R17 tyre size with this rim. Aftermarket alloy rims often come in sizes (rim width, offset, etc.) that aren't approved by Skoda...ie. they won't be listed on the car's CoC. 205/55R17 isn't approved by Skoda for any Octavia MK3 (including the RS), except for the Scout when fitted to a 6Jx17 ET48 rim. NX is a code for the Octavia MK4, not Octavia MK3.
  20. The Skoda accessory catalogue lists 6Jx17 ET48 5/112 57.1 alloy rims for the Octavia MK3, which are suitable for use with 205/50R17 tyres. By quoting the relevant OEM part number, eg. 5E0071496A 8Z8, these can be ordered from any VAG parts department. 6Jx17 ET48 5/112 57.1 alloy rim CRYSTAL 5E0071496A 8Z8 (4869CZK about £174.37) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/alu-kolo-crystal-17-octavia-iii/p/5E0071496A+8Z8 6Jx17 ET48 5/112 57.1 alloy rim CRYSTAL 5E0071497E FL8 (5119CZK about £183.33) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/alu-kolo-crystal-17-octavia-iii/p/5E0071497E+FL8 Michelin Alpin 7 205/50R17 93V XL (Euro label C B 71dB) (Winter tyre) https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rshop/tyre/Michelin/Alpin-7/205-50-R17-93V-XL/D-134906
  21. As you can see in the chart below, 235/40R19 fitted to an 8.5" rim width is 17mm wider than a 225/40R19 fitted to a 7.5" rim width. However, the ET43 reduces the offset by 5mm compared to the ET48 which means that the standard 19" wheels on the Octavia MK4 need at least 13.5mm of clearance on the outside and at least 3.5mm of clearance on the inside for no rubbing to occur with the 235/40R19 8.5Jx19 ET43 wheel. If 15mm wheel spacers can be used with the standard 19" wheels without rubbing, I expect 235/40R19 8.5Jx19 ET43 wheels without wheel spacers can also be used without rubbing. Fitting 235/40R19 to slightly narrower 8.0" rims would help the clearances...so perhaps first try 235/40R19 8Jx19 ET44 wheels from the Superb MK3/MK4. Actual inflated width of tyres (measured from sidewall to sidewall, at the widest point) 225/40R19 fitted to 7.5" rim 224mm 235/40R19 fitted to 8.0" rim 235mm 235/40R19 fitted to 8.5" rim 241mm 245/40R19 fitted to 8.0" rim 242mm Outside diameter of tyres 225/40R19 662.6mm 235/40R19 670.6mm (1.2% bigger outside diameter compared to 225/40R19) 245/40R19 678.6mm (2.4% bigger outside diameter compared to 225/40R19) ETRTO approved rim widths for passenger car tyres 225/45 7.0-7.5-8.5 235/45 7.5-8.0-9.0 245/45 7.5-8.0-9.0 225/40 7.5-8.0-9.0 235/40 8.0-8.5-9.5 245/40 8.0-8.5-9.5 245/40R19 8Jx19 ET44 wheels fitted to Superb MK3 (lowered and with wheel spacers)
  22. That should read, "The inflated 135/80R18 will be about 7mm wider than the inflated 125/70R18...".
  23. The sidewall height of 135/80R18 is 20.5mm higher than 125/70R18, so there would need to be a gap of at least 20.5mm around the 125/70R18 for the 135/80R18 to fit. The inflated 125/70R18 will be about 7mm wider than the inflated 135/80R18 when fitted to the same 3.5Jx18 ET25.5 5/112 57.1 space saver steel rim...not the nominal 10mm. The width of an inflated tyre is measured from sidewall to sidewall, at the widest point.
  24. The skoda-parts dot com front shock aborbers are listed against both 5Q0413031LH and 5Q0413031FP. Bilstein B4 22-230539 is also listed against 5Q0413031FP and about 30 other OEM part numbers, so that's another possibility. The genuine Skoda part should be near enough an exact match to what the car left the factory with. Aftermarket shock aborbers won't often be close to an exact match to the factory fitted shock absorbers because of the large number of OEM part numbers that they are sold to replace.
  25. One option to give a slightly firmer ride is to go up one in the hierarchy from 5Q0411105GM front springs and 3Q0511115AL rear springs to 5Q0411105GN front springs and 3Q0511115M rear springs. As you can see below, this will increase the wire diameter of the front and rear springs by 0.25mm...which should give about a 5% increase in stiffness. Build codes G04+L07 = 5Q0411105GM front springs 1JP+0YE = 3Q0511115AL rear springs Wire diameter of front springs 5Q0411105GM 12.25mm 5Q0411105GN 12.50mm Wire diameter of rear springs 3Q0511115AL 12.50mm 3Q0511115M 12.75mm Bilstein 37-293123 front springs (matches 5Q0411105GN) https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/5q0411105gn?supplier%5B%5D=16 Bilstein 36-301959 rear springs (matches 3Q0511115M) https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/3q0511115m?supplier%5B%5D=16
