  1. If the Superb MK3 2.0TSI 272PS/280PS hatchback has standard ride height (not lowered ride height or increased ride height) then the OEM part number for the rear springs might be 3Q0511115AL. Checking the car's build codes is one way to check what rear springs were fitted in the factory. Kilen and Lesjofors are the biggest aftermarket manufacturer of car springs in Europe and are made in a modern factory in Sweden. These two brands are the same spring. Kilen tends to be more widely marketed in the UK whereas Lesjofors tends to be more widely marketed in some European countries such as Germany. 2. Dropping 1" in rim diameter to the 235/50R18 7Jx18 ET43 wheels would have improved the ride a lot. The difference in ride between the other sizes is incremental. Often with VAG cars, going for the most extreme wheel option can cause the ride quality to drop off a cliff. Tiguan MK1 wheels 215/65R16 6.5Jx16 ET33 215/60R17 6.5Jx17 ET33 235/55R17 7Jx17 ET43 235/50R18 7Jx18 ET43 255/40R19 9Jx19 ET33
  3. Like the Yeti, the Karoq FWD uses 215/60R16 for its 16" tyre size. However, the Karoq FWD uses 215/55R17 for its 17" tyre size instead of the Yeti's 225/50R17. Interestingly, both the Karoq FWD and Yeti use the same 17" rim specification, ie. 7Jx17 ET45. So one possibility for a better ride is to fit 215/55R17 instead of 225/50R17...if the insurance company doesn't mind. 215/55R17 has the same load index as 225/50R17...so the same tyre pressures can be used. Example of good 215/55R17 all-season tyre https://www.camskill.co.uk/m140b0s8825p220589/Continental_Tyres_All_Season_Car_Continental_Conti_All_Season_Contact_2_215_55_R17_94V_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_B_Wet_Grip%3A_B_NoiseClass%3A_B_Noise%3A_70dB As you can see in the chart below, the 215/55R17 is the second most comfortable tyre size out of the four standard Karoq FWD tyre sizes. The ride comfort of 225/50R17 is similar to 215/50R18...and it would be easy to feel the improvement of 215/55R17 compared to either of these two tyre sizes. When it comes to ride comfort, the 225/40R19 is a truly dreadful tyre...and is by far the worst out of the four tyre sizes shown in the chart below. Karoq FWD tyre sizes 215/60R16 215/55R17 215/50R18 225/40R19
  4. The Superb MK2 needs 5/112 57.1 rims. Are these new rims 6.5Jx17 ET39 5/100 57.1? If so, 5/100 is incorrect and won't fit because you won't physically be able to insert the wheel bolts...due to the holes in the rims being in the wrong place. Do the 205/50R17 tyres have a load index of 89(580kg) or 93(650kg)? If only 89(580kg) they probably won't be able to support the maximum axle weight of the Superb MK2. The Superb MK2 usually needs tyres with a load index of at least 91(615kg) or 92(630kg)...depending on model. The Superb MK2 normally uses rims with an offset between ET45 and ET50...so ET39 is 6mm outside of this range. 205/55R16 is a much cheaper (and more comfortable) tyre size than 205/50R17, so it might be better to look at this tyre size (with suitable rims) instead of 205/50R17. The Superb MK2 3.6 V6 needs at least 17" rims to clear the front brake calipers, but all other models can use 16" rims.
  5. 235/35R20 might not be able to support the maximum axle weight of the Superb MK3 because the load index of this tyre size is only 92(630kg) in XL (eXtra Load) form. The Superb MK3 usually uses at least a 94 (670kg) load index. 245/35R20 would have been better because that has a load index of 95(690kg) in XL form.
  6. According to Jurid/Ferodo/Valeo on autodoc, the Superb MK3 1.4TSI iV 160kW/218PS has 312x25mm front brake discs and 300x12mm rear brake discs. All Superb MK3 models use the 312x25mm front and 300x12mm rear brake disc combination except for the powerful 2.0TSI 272/280PS 4x4 models which use the bigger 340x30mm front and 310x22mm rear brake disc combination. The 312x25mm front brake discs could be upgraded to 314x30mm from the Kodiaq. The Kodiaq uses these 314x30mm front brakes discs in combination with the 300x12mm rear brake discs. The 314x30mm front brake discs use the same front brake calipers as the 340x30mm front brake discs. 314x30mm front brake discs enable the use of 16" wheels, whereas the bigger 340x30mm front brake discs need at least 17" wheels to clear the front brake calipers. One owner reported that the 310x22mm rear brakes also need at least 17" wheels to clear the rear brake calipers. The increase in piston diameter of the front brake calipers when going from 312x25mm front brake calipers to 314x30mm/340x30mm front brake calipers will increase the pressure applied to the front brake pads by 10.8%, ie. (60/57)x(60/57)=1.108033241 The increase in the surface area of the front brake pads when going from 312x25mm front brake calipers to 314x30mm/340x30mm front brake calipers is about 18.2% (estimate only as based on outside lengths and outside heights of front brake pads), ie. (175.2/160.2)x(69.7/64.5)=1.1818018175 314x30mm/340x30mm front brake discs have more effective cooling than 312x25mm front brake discs. The performance of the 314x30mm front brakes is probably closer to the 340x30mm front brakes than the 312x25mm front brakes. On the Superb MK3, all the master cylinders use a 23.8mm (15/16"=23.8mm) bore for both the 312x25mm/300x12mm and 340x30mm/310x22mm brake disc combinations. 7. On the Superb MK3, non-standard 225/50R18 7Jx18 ET43 5/112 57.1 wheels could be used with 10mm spacers. This will change the effective offset of the rims from ET43 to ET33. Make sure the spacers are hubcentric, so that the wheel is centred on the hub. With 10mm spacers, the wheel bolts need to be 10mm longer. Perhaps look at Eibach spacers and wheel bolts. 9. The below information is extracted from the Superb MK3 and Superb MK4 owners' manuals. The offset ranges of -2mm to +2mm that wheel-size.com show on their website appear to be arbitrary numbers plucked out of thin air, so probably best ignored. Some countries in Europe (such as Germany) don't allow you to use a wheel size that's not in the car's CoC (Certificate of Conformity). However, if legalities and insurance allow you might want to also look at the winter wheel sizes (ie. suitable for snow chains) that the Superb MK3 lists in its owner's manual...ie. 215/60R16 6.5Jx16 ET41 and 215/55R17 6.5Jx17 ET41. Bear in mind, that the Superb MK4 does use an ET41 offset with its 215/55R17 7.5Jx17 ET41 wheel size. Technical data and specifications (Superb MK3) Permitted rim and tyre combinations for mounting snow chains: Rim dimensions Tyre dimensions 6,5Jx16 ET41 215/60 R16 6,5Jx17 ET41 215/55 R17 Only use snow chains with links no larger than 13 mm, including locks. 10. Maybe it has a 205/55R16 6Jx16 ET40 spare wheel. 205/55R16 has a 1" smaller outside diameter compared to 205/55R17, which is 3.9% smaller. To keep the car's electronics happy, such as ABS, traction control, cruise control, etc. it might be best to keep the difference to less than 1.5%.
  11. As you can see in the chart below, there are no 65 aspect ratio tyres approved by Skoda for the Kamiq. A spare wheel doesn't need to be approved by Skoda...so you could use 195/65R16 6Jx16 ET35 for a spare wheel. Wheels approved by Skoda are listed in the car's CoC (Certificate of Conformity). For a 16" spare wheel to match a 205/55R17 6.5Jx17 ET40, perhaps consider 205/60R16 6Jx16 ET40. Doofy found that a 205/60R16 6Jx16 ET35 fitted in his Kamiq, so 205/60R16 6Jx16 ET40 should also fit. Bear in mind that 205/60R16 is a cheaper and more common tyre size than both 195/60R16 and 195/65R16. 12. The below lists of increased ride height springs for the Superb MK3 are listed in order of stiffness, ie. the hierarchy. 5Q0411105HR increased ride height front springs might be suitable for a Superb MK3 2.0TSI/2.0TDI, ie. one of the heavier engined cars. 3Q0511115AS increased ride height rear springs might be suitable for a Superb MK3 FWD. 3Q0511115BA increased ride height rear springs might be suitable for a Superb MK3 4x4. The 4x4 uses slightly stiffer rear springs (perhaps two up in the hierarchy) than the FWD car, due to the extra weight of the 4x4 system. 14. The Octavia MK3 1.0TSI doesn't use front brake discs bigger than 288x25mm, so 15" rims will fit...including the non-standard 6Jx15 ET47 5/112 57.1 although 6Jx15 ET43 5/112 57.1 is the standard size for the Octavia MK3.
  15. The Fabia MK4 has two different sized front brakes. The Fabia MK3 also has two different sized front brakes. The small brakes on the Fabia MK3 are fitted to models with an engine power below 100BHP. Anything above 100BHP is fitted with big front brakes. The OP may not have realised that these 94BHP and 109BHP engines might be fitted with different sized front brakes...like they were on the Fabia MK3. It's easy to check what size front brakes are fitted to the Fabia MK4 if you have the car's build codes, as shown in the chart below. Build codes for front brakes (Fabia MK4) 1ZG 256x22mm (small front brakes) 1ZE 276x24mm (big front brakes)
  16. If the the 1.0TSI 110PS/116PS has 276x24mm front disc brakes and 228x42mm rear drum brakes and the 1.0TSI 95PS has 256x22mm front disc brakes and 203x38mm rear drum brakes...then that is quite a big upgrade in braking performance...perhaps more important than the upgrade from 5 to 6 speed manual gearbox that you get when going from 1.0TSI 95PS to 1.0TSI 110PS/116PS. However, check the build codes to be sure what brakes are fitted.
  17. Fabia MK4 brakes You might find that the 1.0TSI 70kW/95PS version has the smaller 256x22mm (build code 1ZG) front disc brakes and 203x38mm (build code 1KG) or 228x42mm (build code 1KA) rear drum brakes. You might find that the 1.0TSI 81kW/110PS and 1.0TSI 85kW/116PS versions have the bigger 276x24mm (build code 1ZE) front disc brakes and 230x9mm (build code 1KV) rear disc brakes. 256x22mm front disc brakes need at least 14" wheels to clear the front brake calipers. 276x24mm front disc brakes need at least 15" wheels to clear the front brake calipers...so you wouldn't be able to use the Fabia MK4's 185/70R14 5Jx14 ET38 5/100 57.1 wheels.

  19. As the Octavia MK1 is based on the Golf MK4, 6Jx15 ET38 5/100 57.1 rims and 6.5Jx16 ET42 5/100 57.1 rims are also used on this car. As well as a 205/45R16 6.5Jx16 ET43 5/100 57.1 Fabia MK2 wheel being very prone to kerbing damage it's also very prone to pothole damage. Fortunately, the Skoda parts catalogue for the Octavia MK1 lists a 6.5Jx15 ET43 5/100 57.1 alloy rim that could be used on the Fabia MK2 with a 205/50R15 tyre size (providing it doesn't invalidate the insurance). This would provide kerbing protection, pothole protection, and elegance...as well as a more comfortable ride than a 205/45R16. The Octavia MK1 uses a 205/60R15 tyre size with this rim, which has an outside diameter that is too big for the Fabia MK2. 20. The Skoda accessory catalogue doesn't list standard 16" Fabia MK2 rims, ie. 6.5Jx16 ET43 5/100 57.1 The OP might not have considered 14" and 15" options, and if they are listed in the CoC there shouldn't be any insurance problems. It's also worth pointing out that 205/45R16 tyres provide very little protection from kerbing damage to 6.5J rims because the sidewalls don't bulge out much. 6J rims are too narrow for 205/45R16 tyres, so that's not an option for this tyre size. 6Jx16 ET35/ET38 rims from the Scala/Kamiq could be considered with 185/50R16 or 195/50R16 tyres if the insurance isn't invalidated...but the cost of both the tyres and rims are likely to be considerably more than 15" options. 6Jx15 ET38 5/100 57.1 and 6.5Jx16 ET42 5/100 57.1 from a Golf MK4 could be used (if the slightly different offsets don't invalidate the insurance), but the Golf MK4 tyres can't be used because they have a much bigger outside diameter than Fabia MK2 tyres. 6Jx16 ET35/ET38 5/100 57.1 alloy rims (from Kamiq/Scala) (Skoda accessory catalogue) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/alu-kola/c/alloyWheels?q=%3ApriceAsc%3ArimDiameter%3A16%2522%3AcarType%3AScala%2B%25282019%252B%2529&text=
  21. With an older Fabia, it might not make economic sense to spend about £1,000 on a set of four new alloy rims and tyres. Most Fabia MK2 models, except 1.4TSI 180PS/1.9TDI 105PS/1.6TDI 105PS/1.2TSI 105PS use the smaller 256x22mm front brake discs rather than the bigger 288x25mm front brake discs...so 14" wheels can be used with these smaller front brake disc models, while the bigger front brake disc models need at least 15" wheels to clear the front brake calipers. The Fabia MK2 6Jx14 rims use 185/60R14 as standard...although slightly oversize 185/65R14 or 195/60R14 can be used if it doesn't invalidate the insurance. 22. The Skoda accessory catalogue lists eight 15" alloy rims for the Fabia MK3...which can be ordered from any VAG parts department by quoting the relevent OEM part number (shown on each listing). These 6Jx15 ET38 rims are similar to the Fabia MK2 6Jx15 ET43 rims, ie. 5mm difference in offset. The ET38 offset means that the rims will be 5mm further out in each wheelarch compared to the ET43 offset...so perhaps a slightly more sporty look. The standard 15" Fabia MK2 tyre size (195/55R15) could be used with these rims, although the Fabia MK3 uses 185/60R15 with these rims. 15" alloy rims for Fabia MK3 (Skoda accessory catalogue) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/alu-kola/c/alloyWheels?q=%3ApriceAsc%3ArimDiameter%3A15%2522%3AcarType%3ARapid%2B%25282012-2020%2529%3AcarType%3AFabia%2BIII%2B%25282014%252B%2529&text=#

To be sure, check the paint marks on the front springs (if they are original) or check the car's build codes. 25. The 15" wheels on the Octavia MK3 are 195/65R15 6Jx15 ET43 5/112 57.1 Fitting a 195/65 to a rim wider than 6" will make the ride harder, and the rim will be far more vulnerable to kerbing damage because the tyre's sidewalls won't bulge out from the rim as much. On the Octavia MK3, 15" rims won't clear the front brake calipers if the front brake discs are bigger than 288x25mm...and you will probably find that an Octavia MK3 with an engine more powerful than 110kW/150PS has front brake discs bigger than 288x25mm...although do check the car's build codes to be sure. As you can see in the ETRTO chart below, 195/65 can be fitted to a rim width between 5.5" and 7.0" with 6.0" being the standard rim width for this tyre size...and hence highlighted in bold. ETRTO approved rim widths for passenger car tyres 195/65 5.5-6.0-7.0
