  1. You need your build codes. There's a seller on ebay that can supply them for about 3 Euros. search "vin decoder skoda" on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224631127243
  2. It sounds like the alloy rims were from an Audi Q3. The alloy rims should have the OEM part number on them, usually on the back. What is the OEM part number of these rims? The OEM part number looks something like 8U0601025E or 8U0601025Q, etc.

  4. Don't use spacers with ET33 rims on the Karoq. This is because spacers reduce the offset, so 10mm spacers would change the effective offset from ET33 to ET23, and 15mm spacers would change the effective offset from ET33 to ET18. What is the full specification of the 17" Audi rims? These details are cast into the alloy rim, often on the back. You might need a magnifying glass as these details can be quite small. For example, the rims might be 6.5Jx17 ET33 It sounds like you have already checked that the PCD is 5/112, and that the centre bore is 57.1mm? If they are ET33, they should be ok to use on the Karoq 4WD with non-standard 215/60R17 tyres. 215/60R17 are generally a cheaper tyre size than the standard 225/55R17, so multiple the savings by 4. Another advantage of 215/60R17 over 225/55R17, is that the ride comfort is improved even further. Compared to the hard riding 225/45R19, it will be like riding on clouds. I think you will find that your 19" rims are 8Jx19 ET45 if they are original Skoda Karoq rims. Skoda Karoq 8Jx19 ET45 5/112 57.1 alloy rims https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/hlinikove-disky/c/alloyWheels?q=%3ApriceAsc%3AcarType%3AKaroq%2B%282017%2B%29&page=2 For best ride comfort, avoid over-specifying the tyre. For example, don't choose an eXtra Load XL tyre if a standard load tyre will suffice, and don't choose a V-speed index tyre if an H-speed index tyre will suffice. Here's an example of a Standard Load SL all-season tyre with an H-speed rating in the 215/60R17 tyre size. 5. You measure the outside diameter of the tyre when it's inflated and off the car, ie. without the weight of the vehicle on the tyre. It's more accurate to put a tape measure around the inflated tyre when its off the vehicle to measure the outside circumference, and then divide by 3.142 to calculate the diameter from the circumference, ie. diameter = circumference / 3.142 Even if your 225/45R19 tyre turns out to be about 675mm rather than the calculated 685.1mm, 675mm is actually even closer to the outside diameter of the 135/80R18 space saver tyre so it wouldn't be a problem at all. A Skoda dealer will only be able to advise you to fit a 125/70R18 space saver and not a 135/80R18. That's because 125/70R18 is the only space saver size that Skoda recommends for the Karoq. The 125/70R18 was originally from the Octavia MK3 but has be repurposed for other cars such as the Karoq and Superb MK3 and now the Octavia MK4, even those all three of these cars use significantly larger outside diameter tyres compared to the Octavia MK3. If the space for the 125/70R18 tyre is a close fit, then it's possible that there wouldn't be enough space for the 135/80R18 tyre. A 135/80R18 tyre fitted to a 3.5J rim is about 6mm wider than a 125/70R18 tyre fitted to a 3.5J rim. A 135/80R18 tyre has an outside diameter about 41mm more than the smaller 125/70R18 size, ie. 20.5mm larger radius.
  6. If you have a Karoq 4WD rather than a Karoq 2WD, you might find that there's less height for the spare wheel in the spare wheel well due to the extra space that the Karoq 4WD needs for its four wheel drive system. This point needs confirming by someone with a Karoq 4WD, but if there is less height a full size wheel might not fit so you might be limited to a 125/70R18 space saver although it might be better to the 125/70R18 for a 135/80R18 so that the outside of the space saver tyre is close to the outside diameter of the full size tyres on the Karoq 4WD. Outside diameter of Karoq 4WD tyres 225/60R16 676.4mm 225/55R17 679.3mm 225/50R18 682.2mm 225/45R19 685.1mm Outside diameter of two space saver tyres 125/70R18 632.2mm (7.1% smaller than the average Karoq 4WD tyre size) 135/80R18 673.2mm (1.1% smaller than the average Karoq 4WD tyre size)) The average outside diameter of the four standard Karoq 4WD tyres (225/60R16, 225/55R17, 225/50R18, 225/45R19) is 680.75mm, ie. (676.4+679.3+682.2+685.1)/4 = 680.75mm. Therefore, 125/70R18 has an outside diameter about 7.1% smaller than the average Karoq 4WD tyre size, and 135/80R18 has an outside diameter about 1.1% smaller than the average Karoq 4WD tyre size, ie. the 135/80R18 space saver tyre is a much better match to full-size Karoq 4WD tyre sizes than 125/70R18. As you can see from the chart below, both 125/70R18 and 135/80R18 can be fitted to the 3.5Jx18 ET25.5 5/112 57.1 steel space saver rim. 3.5 is highlighted in bold because that is the standard rim width for both these tyre sizes. 7. The Karoq 2WD and Karoq 4WD use different tyre sizes. Karoq 2WD tyre sizes 215/60R16 215/55R17 215/50R18 225/40R19 Karoq 4WD tyre sizes 225/60R16 225/55R17 225/50R18 225/45R19
  8. The mytyres database isn't out of date. It doesn't show a 7Jx16 ET45 5/112 57.1 steel rim for the Karoq because no one makes that specification. The only steel rim that is made for the Karoq is the 6Jx16 ET43 5/112 57.1 steel rim. There are other steel rims that could be considered for use, but there's not much available above 16". Like you say, the 6.5Jx17 ET38 steel rim from the Kodiaq could be considered. Before purchasing a spare wheel (which is the expensive part), I suggest you purchase the foam kit for the Karoq 2WD which includes the jack, ie. OEM part number 57A093860. This should be available to order from a VAG/Skoda dealers's parts department for about £50 or a little less. Once you get the foam, you will need to work out how much room there is for a spare wheel. The OP found that the carpet was lifted slightly with his solution. From one of the photos, it looks like he used a 215/55R17 fitted to a 7Jx17 ET45 alloy rim. You may want to avoid this outcome by using a slightly narrower spare tyre than 215/55R17 fitted to a 7J rim, such as a 215/60R16 fitted to a 6Jx16 ET43 steel rim (or alloy). You might find that the outside diameters of the Karoq 2WD tyres (such as 215/60R16, 215/55R17) are too big to fit inside the foam. In one of the official Skoda photos for this kit, it shows a spare saver fitted inside the foam not a full-size wheel. The space saver tyre shown is 125/70R18 and this size has an outside diameter about 5% smaller than a full size Karoq 2WD tyre. If you can't fit a Karoq 2WD tyre inside the Karoq 2WD foam kit with OEM part number 57A093860 you might then need to purchase the Karoq 4WD foam kit with OEM part number 57A093860A which is about twice the price, ie. about £100. Maybe ask the dealer if a Karoq 2WD tyre will fit inside the Karoq 2WD foam spare wheel kit? although I doubt he would know.
  9. I edited "but it's not suitable for the Fabia MK1/2/3" because that was with a 125/70R18 tyre size that the 3.5Jx18 ET38 5/100 57.1 space saver rim normally comes with, and not that the rim is unsuitable for the Fabia MK1/2/3 if used with a suitable tyre size such as 125/60R18. However, a 125/60R18 appears to be rather expensive and has even less sidewall than a 225/35R19.
  10. Yes, but because 3.5Jx18 ET38 5/100 57.1 steel space saver rims with OEM part number 1J0601027M have been around for a long time, ie. since Golf MK4, they are common and cheap so it's possible to pick them up on ebay for around £60. However, I'm not sure why anyone would want one if there's room for a full-size spare.
  11. That's a 3.5Jx18 ET38 5/100 57.1 space saver from the VW Golf MK4 with OEM part number 1J0601027M. It's also used on some other VAG cars such as the Skoda Scala and Skoda Kamiq. Outside diameter of tyres 125/80R16 606.4mm 125/90R16 631.4mm 125/60R18 607.2mm 125/70R18 632.2mm
  12. As well as 6R0601027J from the VW Polo MK5 and Audi A1 there's also 6R0601027Q from the Skoda Rapid and Seat Toledo with the same 3.5Jx16 ET38 specification. 6R0601027Q Steel rim 3.5Jx16 ET38 5/100 57.1 steel rim with 125/70R16 space saver tyre
  13. There's a 3.5Jx16 ET38 5/100 57.1 steel space saver rim listed for the 2010-2014 VW Polo MK5 and 2011-2014 Audi A1 that could be used with a range of space saver tyres including 125/70R16, 125/90R16, 135/70R16, 135/90R16 space saver tyre. The 125/70R16 and 135/70R16 have an outside diameter similar to Fabia MK1 and Fabia MK2 sized tyres. The 125/90R16 has an outside diameter similar to Scala sized tyres. The 135/90R16 has an outside diameter similar to Kamiq sized tyres. 6R0601027J 3.5Jx16 ET38 5/100 57.1 steel space saver rim (from 2010-2015 VW Polo and 2011-2014 Audi A1) https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/vw/RDW/PO/672/6/601/601012 Outside diameter of tyres 125/70R16 581.4mm 125/90R16 631.4mm 135/70R16 595.4mm 135/90R16 649.4mm https://www.camskill.co.uk/m127b0s0p0/Temporary_Spare_Tyres_-_Space_Saver_Tyres_-_16_inch
  14. From the 57A093860A part number, the OP appears to have ordered the Karoq 4x4 spare wheel kit for his Karoq 4x2. However, from the photo below it appears that the Karoq 4x2 kit is only suitable for a 125/70R18 space saver (this point needs confirming). This is because the outside diameter of a full size tyre (eg. 215/60R16, 215/55R17, 215/50R18) is about 5% larger than the outside diameter of a 125/70R18 space saver tyre. You can see from the photo that there's not much room around the outside of the 125/70R18 space saver tyre. For example, the radius of a 215/50R18 tyre is 20mm larger than the radius of the 125/70R18 space saver tyre. The OP said that his full size wheel, which might have been 215/50R18, raised the carpet slightly. As you can see in one of my charts below the 215/50R18 tyre fitted to a 7J rim has an actual width when inflated of 226mm. This is 11mm more than the actual width of a 215/60R16 tyre fitted to a 6J rim. For this reason, it might be better to use the 215/60R16 tyre size as a spare as the carpet would be raised less or not at all. Outside diameter of tyres 125/70R18 632.2mm 215/60R16 664.4mm 215/55R17 668.3mm 215/50R18 672.2mm Actual width of inflated tyres 215/60R16 fitted to 6J rim 215mm 215/55R17 fitted to 7J rim 226mm 215/50R18 fitted to 7J rim 226mm Karoq 4x2 spare wheel kit 57A093860 (Only for 4x2 vehicles with a basic boot floor and standard fitted rear seats) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/sady-pro-vymenu-kol/c/setsToChangeWheels?q=%3ApriceAsc%3AcarType%3AKaroq%2B%282017%2B%29 Karoq 4x4 spare wheel kit 57A093860A (Only for 4x4 vehicles with a basic boot floor and standard fitted rear seats) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/sada-pro-vymenu-rezervniho-kola/p/57A093860A
  15. Why would a 225/45R17 have less traction than a 225/40R18 during acceleration or braking? In case you thought the contact area of 225/40R18 is more, you would be wrong. 225/45R17 has about 10% more contact area with the road than 225/40R18, because the standard load index of 225/45R17 is 91 (615kg), whereas the standard load index of 225/40R18 is 88 (560kg). This means that the tyre pressure of 225/40R18 needs to be higher than 225/45R17 which reduces the contact area that the tyre's tread has with the road. However, the amount of grip has more to do with the suitability of the tyre for the conditions. An UHP summer tyre will take much longer to stop (and accelerate) in cold winter conditions below about 7 degrees Centigrade as a good all-season tyre.
  16. 1K0411105DL increased ride height front springs will match the 1K0511115CR increased ride height rear springs on the Octavia MK2 2.0TDI 2WD estate. In the Skoda parts catalogue, 1K0411105DL front springs are shown as build code L61. Therefore, 1K0413031BL are the matching front shock absorbers, and 1K0412303G are the matching bump stops. The Meyle bump stop on autodoc shows a 25mm inner diameter. Check that this 25mm inner diameter will be compatible with the aftermarket front shock absorbers, as the aftermarket front shock absorbers might not be the same specification as OEM. On autodoc, most of the aftermarket front shock absorbers that are sold to replace 1K0413031BL have a 22mm piston road diameter (aka stanchion tube diameter). However, the OEM 1K0413031BL has a 25mm piston rod diameter. Do your front shock absorber have a 50mm or 55mm strut diameter (where they are clamped)? I suspect 50mm. I suspect most of the aftermarket front shock absorbers that are sold to replace 1K0413031BL are a poor match, eg. 22mm piston rod diameter instead of 25mm. This is the problem with trying to find good matching aftermarket increased ride height shock absorbers. As the market tends to be aimed at the high selling volume standard ride height shock absorbers. For this reason, its often better to use OEM increased ride height shock absorbers although there would be an associated increased cost compared to the aftermarket. 1K0413031BL Gas shock absorber for models with heavy duty suspension G02+2UB+L61 1K0412303G rubber stop for shock absorber 90mm G02,2UB https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/1k0412303g?search=OEN 1K0412303G&supplier[0]=152&supplier[1]=152 1K0411105DL increased ride height front springs for the Octavia MK2 2.0TDI 2WD estate Eibach R10220 Kilen 23118 Sachs 993 057 https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/1k0411105dl?search=OEN 1K0411105DL&supplier[0]=32&supplier[1]=112&supplier[2]=246&supplier[3]=32&supplier[4]=112&supplier[5]=246 1K0511115CR increased ride height rear springs for the Octavia MK2 2.0TDI 2WD estate Eibach R10261 Kilen 65075 Sachs 994 336 https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/1k0511115cr?supplier[0]=246&supplier[1]=112&supplier[2]=32 Skoda parts catalogue No Part code Title Note QNT Model suspension Shock absorbers for models with heavy duty suspension Anti-roll bar front estate car: fr.wheel drv PR-2UB - 1 1K0411105AQ Coil spring 1 paint mark 1 paint mark 1 paint mark also marked with: 1 paint mark 4 colour strokes violet orange blue Grey blue 2 PR-L07 1 1K0411105BC Coil spring 1 paint mark 1 paint mark 2 paint marks violet orange blue 2 PR-L13 1 1K0411105CM Coil spring 2 paint marks 2 paint marks violet Grey 2 PR-L40 1 1K0411105DJ Coil spring 4 colour strokes blue 2 PR-L57 1 1K0411105DK Coil spring 3 paint marks orange 2 PR-L60 1 1K0411105DL Coil spring 4 colour strokes orange 2 PR-L61 1 1K0411105DM Coil spring 2 paint marks violet 2 PR-L66 1 1K0411105DN Coil spring 3 paint marks 1 paint mark also marked with: 3 paint marks pink brown violet 2 PR-L67 https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/skoda/CZ/OCT/663/4/411/411011
  17. The derated tow capacity might be something to do with the car's ability (or inability) to tow up a steep gradient. 7 people weigh more than 5 people...hence the derating. Also, you need to take into account the maximum train weight. If some of that weight are two extra passengers, then there will be a matching reduction in towing weight.
  18. 7 seater has harder rear springs. Great if there's 7 people on board. Not so good, if there's only 1 or 2 people on board. If you've ever been on a fully loaded double decker bus, you will know that the ride improves a lot when fully loaded. When empty, the ride is unpleasantly hard.
  19. If you don't mind 225/55R17 that the Karoq 4x4 uses, then 7J rims would be fine and put the ride in the medium category as shown in the chart below. I've added 215/55R17 fitted to a 7J rim to a medium to hard riding category, so a bit harder than a 215/55R17 fitted to a 6.5J rim but not as hard as a 205/50R18 fitted to a 7J rim. However, if you're looking to improve your ride it's probably best to look at the soft and medium riding tyre/rim combination and not the medium to hard, and hard riding categories. Soft ride 215/60R16 tyre fitted to a 6Jx16 rim Medium ride 215/55R17 tyre fitted to a 6.5jx17 rim 225/55R17 tyre fitted to a 7Jx17 rim Medium to hard ride 215/55R17 tyre fitted to a 7Jx17 rim Hard ride 215/50R18 tyre fitted to a 7Jx18 rim
  20. If you're looking for comfort, 215/55R17 fitted to a relatively wide 7.5jx17 is far from the best choice. Fitting a tyre to a relatively wide rim stretches the sidewalls and makes the sidewalls more difficult to flex resulting in a harder ride. Looking at the below chart, a 215/55R17 tyre fitted to a 7.5Jx17 rim would give a similar hard ride to a 215/50R18 tyre fitted to a 7Jx18 rim. Normally a 215/55R17 tyre would give a slightly softer ride than a 215/50R18 tyre, but because you would be fitting it to a relatively wide 7.5J rim it becomes about as hard riding (inability to absorb road bumps) as a 215/50R18 tyre fitted to a 7J rim. If you're not happy with the soft riding 215/60R16 tyre fitted to a 6J rim, maybe consider a 215/60R16 (or even 225/60R16 which the Karoq 4x4 uses) fitted to a 6.5Jx16 rim or in the case of the 225/60R16 tyre maybe even a 7J rim. The Superb MK2 and Yeti had a 7Jx16 ET45 option. The Superb MK3 has a 215/55R17 tyre size option, and a choice of 6.5J or 7J rims. Maybe also consider a 215/55R17 fitted to a 6.5Jx17 ET38 rim from the Kodiaq. The Kodiaq uses a 215/65R17 tyre size with this rim, not the much smaller outside diameter 215/55R17. Perhaps make the final decision with consideration to tyre prices. Some tyre sizes can be a lot more than others. For example, Octavia MK3 tyre prices such as 195/65R15, 205/55R16, tend to be a lot cheaper than Superb MK3 and Karoq tyre prices such as 215/60R16 and 215/55R17. Soft ride 215/60R16 tyre fitted to a 6Jx16 rim Medium ride 215/55R17 tyre fitted to a 6.5jx17 rim Hard ride 215/50R18 tyre fitted to a 7Jx18 rim

  22. Due to the London ULEZ being expanded in August 2023 to include most of the area inside the M25, expect around 100,000 old diesels (pre-Euro 6 which is around pre-2015) to flood onto the market with no where near enough buyers. Prices will surely crash. I expect come spring 2023, the trickle will turn into a flood of sellers desperately trying to offload their old pre-Euro 6 diesels as the August 2023 date looms. None of the Superb MK2 diesels comply with Euro 6.
  23. mytyres are listing an Alcar 6667. The Alcar 6667 is an exact copy of the 16" steel rim from the Skoda Octavia MK4. Alcar are made in Switzerland so as you can imagine, are OE quality. Alcar are one of the most popular aftermarket steel rim manufacturers, hence why mytyres sell them. The 205/60R16 tyre size is correct for this rim on the Octavia MK4. However, you might want to try one of your current full size wheels first to get an idea if a 205/60R16 tyre would fit in the spare wheel well with the carpet flush, etc. Alcar 6667 6.5Jx16 ET46 5/112 57.1 steel rim https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rims/details?vehicleId=1275564879859717232&rimCode=ALCAR6667 The 6.5Jx17 ET38 5/112 57.1 steel rim fromt the Kodiaq is similar to the Octavia MK4 6.5Jx17 ET46 5/112 57.1 rim size except for the offset being ET38 instead of ET46. This would move the centre of the tyre 8mm further out in the wheel arch compared to the standard 17" Octavia MK4 rim. Alcar 9021 6.5Jx17 ET38 5/112 57.1 steel rim (from Kodiaq) https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rims/details?vehicleId=672860434273997936&rimCode=ALCAR9021 If there's room for an inflated 225 wide tyre (which I doubt), then consider an Alcar 9373 7.5Jx18 ET50 5/112 57.1 steel rim from the VW iD.3 electric car. The offset of this rim is only 2mm different from the 18" Octavia MK4 rim, so would be a good fit on the car with a 225/45R18 tyre. However, on mytyres it's currently over twice the price of the 16" steel rim. The standard 18" tyre and rim size on the Octavia MK4 is 225/45R18 fitted to a 7.5Jx18 ET48 5/112 57.1 rim. 24. If it fails the MOT due to leaking shock absorbers, you will have written proof that they need changing. The results of MOT tests are shown online, so it's easy to get proof. If you can see a big patch of oil on the outside of the shock absorbers, then that's a leak.
  25. The foam kit including jack and everything except the spare wheel itself might cost about £50 from a Skoda dealer. From ebay it might cost about £100. On ebay, the parts might not have the correct OEM part numbers and might not be correct for the car. 5E3012115A is the OEM part number for just the foam for the full size spare wheel. The similar 5E3012115 (without the A at the end) is just the foam for the skinny space saver wheel. However, check with the dealer to make sure that he supplies the correct parts for your car. skoda parts catalogue https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/skoda/CZ/OCT/585/0/012/12000 Don't purchase this one in the photo below, as it's only for a skinny space saver wheel (unless that's what you want) 5E3012115A is the foam for a full size spare wheel shown in the photo below (perhaps just 205/60R16 or 205/55R17, maybe not 225/45R18 if the tyre is inflated but maybe 225/45R18 if the tyre is deflated). The 5E3012115A part number might be for just the foam without the jack/tools, etc.
