  1. There are three different sized rear brake discs on the Octavia MK3. Which size is fitted depends on the build code for the rear brakes. Build code 1KD is for the 253x10mm rear discs. Build code 1KS or 1KT is for the 272x10mm rear discs. Build code 1KW is for the 310x22mm rear discs. They are all TRW brake systems, but they use different brake pads as shown below. 2. There are no shock absorbers shown on autodoc when a search is carried out using either 5Q0412037JR or 500512011HP. Therefore, these are not likely to be the OEM part numbers of the shock absorbers that the car left the factory with. If you're looking for aftermarket parts for things like shock absorbers, it's best to get a full list of the car's build codes. It's very important for the OEM part number of each of your car's shock absorbers to be stated in the listing for the aftermarket shock absorber. That way, the shock absorber manufacturer is saying that their aftermarket shock absorber will fit your car. You can get the car's build codes on ebay for about 3 Euros. Search "skoda vin decoder" on ebay, to find the listing. "erwin skoda" is another alternative, but that costs about 7 Euros for 1 hour's access which should be enough time to download the data. A build code is made up of 3 letters and/or number, such as 1JA 2UC, etc. Each VAG car might have a total of around 180 build codes. You can use "vw codes decoder" to decode the build codes. 3. You might want to avoid EBC rear brake pads for the 300x12mm rear brake discs on the Superb MK3. This is because EBC made a mistake and started selling rear brake pads from the 272x10mm rear brake discs on the Karoq. If you use these Karoq rear brake pads on the Superb MK3 they will wear a narrower groove on the rear brake discs because the friction material covers a smaller area. EBC can't correct their mistake because too many EBC customers are now using these Karoq rear brake pads on their Superb MK3. If EBC started selling the correct rear brake pads for the Superb MK3 fitted with 300x12mm rear brake discs, customers who didn't fit new rear brake discs would have problems because of the narrower groove that the Karoq rear brake pads wear into the rear brake discs. Of course, customers wouldn't have a problem using the correct brake pads if new discs are used when new pads are fitted. As you can see in the diagrams below, the Karoq and Superb MK3 rear brake pads are almost identical, except that the Karoq friction material has a few millimetres less height than what's on the Superb MK3 rear brake pads. Notice that the ATE 13.0460-7293.2 and ATE 13.0460-7294.2 part numbers are also almost identical. In the diagrams below, the blue colour represents the friction material. Karoq rear brake pads for 272x10mm rear brake discs ATE 13.0460-7293.2 https://www.autodoc.co.uk/ate/8938915 Superb MK3 rear brake pads for 300x12mm rear brake discs ATE 13.0460-7294.2 https://www.autodoc.co.uk/ate/8938916 So if you want EBC rear brake pads for your Superb MK3 that is fitted with 300x12mm rear brake discs, order the EBC rear brake pads for a Superb MK3 with 310x22mm rear brake discs. Skoda sells the same rear brake pads (ie. same OEM part number) for both the Superb MK3 fitted with 300x12mm rear brake discs and the Superb MK3 fitted with 310x22mm rear brake discs. Below are two diagrams of EBC rear brake pads that match the two above ATE rear brake pads. Notice the slightly smaller (less height) friction material on the Karoq rear brake pads. The friction material is shown in white, and the metal backing plate is shown in black. 4. The rear brake pads don't have a wear indicator.
  5. Both rear brake disc sizes are part of an ATE rear brake system, so I would go with ATE brake pads and brake discs. ATE are owned by Continental tyres, so are one of the best brake systems. There are only two different brake disc sizes fitted to the Superb MK3. 300x12mm and 310x22mm. The 300x12mm is a solid rear disc and the 310x22mm is a ventilated rear disc. As you can see from the links below, the 300x12mm rear brakes discs are about £50 each, and the ceramic brake pads are about £50 for the set. So that's about £150 for all the parts including shipping. 6. According to the dezent-wheels.com website, the Dezent TR's are available in 7.5Jx18 with offsets of 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 49, 51, 53 and 8Jx18 with offsets of 30, 35, 38, 39, 43, 44, 46, 48 and many other sizes. So the standard 7.5Jx18 ET48 is available. https://www.dezent-wheels.com/EN/products#!wheel=dezent-tr-dark https://www.dezent-wheels.com/EN/products#!wheel=dezent-tr-black https://www.dezent-wheels.com/EN/products#!wheel=dezent-tr-silver
  7. Probably. I can't imagine that the standard car with 225/45R18 tyres fitted to the standard 7.5Jx18 ET48 rims wouldn't have a few millimetres of clearance to spare. It's not something that I would do, as the tyre sidewalls won't bulge out much on the wider 8J rims, ie. less rim protection from kerbing damage. The wider 8J rims will also make the sidewalls less flexible giving a harder ride. I'm also not a fan of aftermarket alloy rims. If you need a replacement at some time in the future, it could be hard to find a replacement, expensive, or even unavailable. Look how easy it is to search for a VAG rim. For example 8D0601025K as shown below. There's a huge advantage in being able to search for a VAG OEM part number. Most aftermarket alloy rims are heavy. Sand cast aluminium is a weak material. Because it is weak, a lot of material is needed. Hence they tend to be a lot heavier than the steel equivalent in the same size. If you like 225s, I would be looking at 225/55R16 fitted to 7Jx16 ET45 from the Superb MK2, Yeti, and many other VAG cars. The 8D0601025K 7Jx16 ET45 5/112 57.1 alloy rims from the Audi A4/A6 (around the year 2000) are made from forged alloy, and are a lightweight but strong design. They weigh around 7.3kg each, whereas most 7.5Jx18 ET48 alloy rims weigh over 12kg each. That's a huge difference in unsprung weight. 7Jx16 ET45 5/112 57.1 alloy rims 8D0601025K 8D0601025K on the german version of ebay https://www.ebay.de/itm/144672316685?epid=1428912328&hash=item21af245d0d:g:UzIAAOSw~-piugy5 Together with 225/55R16 tyres, the 7Jx16 ET45 rims would be far more comfortable than the stretched 225/45R18 tyres on 8J rims (or even the standard 7.5J rims). Another problem with 225/45R18 tyres, is that they tend to be over-specified for the Octavia MK4. For example, Y-speed rated and XL (eXtra Load). This makes the tyre's sidewalls a lot stiffer and less flexible, resulting in a harder ride. In the 225/55R16 tyre size, there are plenty of tyres available with a standard load index (ie. not XL) and a lower V-speed rating. 8. 7.5Jx18 ET48 is the standard specification for 18" OEM rims on the Octavia MK4, as you can see on "skoda eshop cz" OEM 18" Skoda rims for Octavia MK4 https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/hlinikove-disky/c/alloyWheels?q=%3ApriceAsc%3AcarType%3AOctavia%2BIV%2B%282019%2B%29&text=#
  9. In slippery winter conditions while driving a lightweight 180PS FWD car you won't always be able to plant your right foot whatever tyres you fit. What spare tyre size will fit in the spare wheel well of a Fabia MK2? I'm guessing 185/55R15 fitted to a 6Jx15 ET43 will fit, but anything wider? Actual width of tyre when inflated (measured from sidewall to sidewall) 185/55R15 fitted to 6J rim 194mm 195/55R15 fitted to 5.5J rim about 195mm As you can see in the above chart, a 195/55R15 tyre fitted to a 5.5J rim is about the same width as a 185/55R15 tyre fitted to a 6J rim. This means that if a 185/55R15 tyre fitted to a 6J rim fits in the spare wheel well, then a 195/55R15 tyre fitted to a 5.5J rim will also fit in the spare wheel well. PROXES CF2 Proxes CF2 has been created to take advantage of the latest materials, structures and tread pattern design in order to guarantee a high level of safety, durability, savings, and comfort. 10. 195/55R15 would be a good winter tyre size for the Fabia MK2 VRS if you don't use snow chains. Suitable rim sizes include 6Jx15 ET43 (standard Fabia MK2 rim size), 6Jx15 ET38, 6Jx15 ET35, 6.5Jx15 ET34. Perhaps even 5.5Jx15 ET40 or 5.5Jx15 ET34 if you like narrow 5.5J rims with the 195/55R15 tyre size. It's more common to fit 195/55 to wider 6J or 6.5J rims. The 195/55R15 tyre size will better fill the wheelarches when used with ET38, ET35, and ET34 offsets compared to the rather recessed standard ET43 offset. As you can see in the chart below, 195/55 can be fitted to a rim between 5.5J and 7J with 6J highlighted in bold as that's a good starting point if you're not sure what rim width you want. However, fitting a 195/55 tyre to a 6.5J rim will give slightly sharper steering at the expense of a slight reduction in ride comfort compared to fitting the 195/55 tyre to a 6J rim. For example, the Renault Zoe electric car fits its 195/55 tyre size to a 6.5J rim. 12. When you search on autodoc for Bilstein shock absorbers for the Superb MK3, Bilstein B4 22-232342 and Bilstein B4 19-232362 shock absorbers are sometimes shown. However, they appear to be increased ride height shock absorbers so wouldn't be suitable for standard ride height suspension. These Bilstein shock absorbers should work well with the Superb MK3 with standard ride height because the Superb MK3 with standard ride height and the Passat B8 with standard ride height use very similar and sometimes identical springs. The OEM part numbers for the Superb MK3 shock absorbers with standard ride height are: 3Q0413031BF 3Q0413031BG 3Q0413031CQ 3Q0413031CR 3Q0513049FN 3Q0513049FP 3Q0513049FQ 3Q0513049FR. However, there aren't any Bilstein shock absorbers with any of these OEM part numbers for the Superb MK3 shock absorbers with standard ride height listed against them. Hence the need to look at the OEM part numbers for the Passat B8 shock absorbers with standard ride height. The KYB 3358015 and Sachs 317330 front shock absorbers and KYB 3448024 and Sachs 318202 rear shock absorbers that I linked to in a previous post, have all the OEM part numbers for the Superb MK3 standard ride height shock absorbers and Passat B8 standard ride height shock absorbers listed against them.

  14. The problem is you are involved in a guessing game. Your car is a Superb MK3 2.0TDI estate 4x4 with increased ride height which may have suspension components such as springs and shock absorbers that are no longer working like new. Are all the springs and shock absorbers the original and correct Skoda parts? Do you know what a new Superb MK3 2.0TDI estate 4x4 with standard ride height drives like? Maybe test drive a new car to find out? You may like it. After all, Skoda will have done a lot of R&D (Research and Development, testing, etc.) This reminds me of another Superb MK3 2.0TDI estate owner. He had a broken rear spring but felt sure the replacement rear springs needed to be much stiffer than standard. The garage would only fit the correct springs, so he had those fitted. Once the new springs were fitted, the owner found them absolutely fine. The moral of the story is that when the suspension isn't working well, it's easy to get into the overcompensate mode, when all that is needed is for the suspension to return to its new condition. Some owners do modify their suspension, but that is often done for cosmetic reasons and/or because the owner wants to improve the handling and is willing to compromise the ride. Maybe try the springs that Kilen/Lesjofors recommends and if you don't mind paying for expensive shock absorbers, try OEM Skoda shock absorbers that match the OEM springs or Bilstein B6 shock absorbers. The problem with aftermarket shock absorbers is that the manufacturers have a one size fits all approach. For example, I've seen just one Monroe rear shock absorber being sold to replace all standard ride height Superb MK3 and VW Passat B8 rear shock absorbers. Both Skoda and VW list many different standard ride height rear shock absorbers to carefully match the rear springs that are being used. Monroe 376246SP rear shock absorbers are being sold to replace all of these OEM part numbers, ie. a one-size fits all approach OEM reference number(s) comparable with the original spare part number OEN 5Q0513029KG — AUDI OEN 5Q0513029KR — AUDI OEN 5Q0513029LT — AUDI OEN 5Q0513029MF — AUDI OEN 5QF513049BL — AUDI OEN 5QF513049BM — AUDI OEN 5QF513049CD — AUDI OEN 5QF513049CE — AUDI OEN 5QF513049CM — AUDI OEN 5Q0513029LF — SEAT OEN 5Q0513029MA — SEAT OEN 5Q0513029MG — SEAT OEN 5QN513049AT — SEAT OEN 5QN513049BA — SEAT OEN 5QN513049BB — SEAT OEN 5QN513049BC — SEAT OEN 5QN513049BH — SEAT OEN 5QN513049BJ — SEAT OEN 3Q0513049FN — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049FP — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049FQ — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049FR — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049FS — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049FT — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049GA — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049GB — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049GS — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049HE — SKODA OEN 5Q0513029NF — SKODA OEN 5Q0513029NP — SKODA OEN 5QF513049AH — SKODA OEN 5QF513049AJ — SKODA OEN 5QF513049AS — SKODA OEN 5QF513049AT — SKODA OEN 5QF513049CB — SKODA OEN 5QF513049CC — SKODA OEN 3Q0513049EQ — VW OEN 3Q0513049FA — VW OEN 3Q0513049FB — VW OEN 3Q0513049FC — VW OEN 3Q0513049FD — VW OEN 3Q0513049FE — VW OEN 3Q0513049FF — VW OEN 3Q0513049FG — VW OEN 3Q0513049FH — VW OEN 3Q0513049GE — VW OEN 3Q0513049GF — VW OEN 3Q0513049GG — VW OEN 3Q0513049GH — VW OEN 3Q0513049GJ — VW OEN 3Q0513049GK — VW OEN 3Q0513049GL — VW OEN 3Q0513049GQ — VW OEN 3Q0513049GR — VW OEN 3Q0513049GS — VW OEN 3Q0513049GT — VW OEN 3Q0513049HA — VW OEN 3Q0513049HB — VW OEN 3Q0513049HC — VW OEN 3Q0513049HD — VW OEN 3Q0513049HE — VW OEN 3Q0513049HK — VW OEN 3Q0513049HL — VW OEN 5Q0513029NJ — VW OEN 5Q0513029NK — VW OEN 5Q0513029NL — VW OEN 5Q0513029NM — VW OEN 5Q0513029NT — VW OEN 5Q0513029PA — VW OEN 5Q0513029PB — VW OEN 5QF513049AA — VW OEN 5QF513049AB — VW OEN 5QF513049AK — VW OEN 5QF513049AL — VW OEN 5QF513049AM — VW OEN 5QF513049AN — VW OEN 5QF513049AP — VW OEN 5QF513049AQ — VW OEN 5QF513049BN — VW OEN 5QF513049BP — VW OEN 5QF513049BQ — VW OEN 5QF513049BR — VW OEN 5QF513049BS — VW OEN 5QF513049BT — VW OEN 5QF513049Q — VW OEN 5QF513049S — VW OEN 5QF513049T — VW OEN 5QN513049AH — VW OEN 5QN513049AM — VW OEN 5QN513049AN — VW OEN 5QN513049AP — VW OEN 5QN513049AQ — VW OEN 5QN513049AR — VW OEN 5QN513049AS — VW OEN 5QN513049AT — VW OEN 5QN513049BA — VW OEN 5QN513049BB — VW OEN 5QN513049BC — VW OEN 5QN513049BF — VW OEN 5QN513049BG — VW OEN 5QN513049BH — VW OEN 5QN513049BJ — VW OEN 5QN513049BL — VW https://www.autodoc.co.uk/monroe/13672272
  15. What springs are they? Make, model, etc.
  16. The 5Q0411105GM front spring is listed for the Superb MK3 2.0TDI 190PS FWD The 5Q0411105GN front spring is listed for the Superb MK3 2.0TDI 190PS 4x4 From the specification below, 5Q0411105GM is about 5% softer than the 5Q0411105GN and is 3mm shorter in uncompressed length. However, if you fitted it to your 4x4 it would lower the unladen front ride height by about 6mm because the softer spring compresses more under the weight of the vehicle. Notice in the photos below that both springs have about the same number of coil turns, ie. about 4.6 coil turns. This is important to check when comparing the stiffness of two different springs because more coil turns will make the spring softer with all other things being equal. 18. 5Q0411105CH front springs from the Passat B8 would lower the front of the Superb MK3 by about 11mm according to the specifications of the Eibach and Sachs springs, and about 16mm according the specifications of the KYB springs. However, the KYB springs wouldn't necessarily lower the front ride height more than other springs that are sold to replace this OEM part number because there are often mistakes in the specifications given by aftermarket spring manufacturers. Fitting Passat B8 springs and shock absorbers to a Superb MK3 won't necessarily make a Superb MK3 ride and handle like a Passat B8 because the Passat B8 also uses different anti-roll bars. The Kilen/Lesjofors spring catalogue only gives OEM part numbers for the Superb MK3 2.0TDI 4x4 150PS/190PS/200PS with standard ride height. The Sportline uses lowered/sports springs. 21. Will a full-size 215/60R16 fit in the spare wheel well? Space savers are expensive and heavy. Space saver tyres are heavy because the tyre has to be reinforced (like a van tyre) so that it can be inflated to about 4 Bar (60psi). 25. Once you have your car's build codes, you can use the Skoda parts catalogue to find the parts that your car left the factory with. Here's an example of build codes. The below car has 180 build codes. They have been sorted into alphanumerical order, so that you can sort through them quickly. There are also other useful codes, such as engine code and paint code, etc. Another useful piece of information is the date of manufacture. You can copy and paste the below codes into the "VW Codes Decoder", which should give you an idea of what each code is for. For example, some codes will be for the springs, shock absorbers, brakes, etc. VW Codes Decoder The "VW Codes Decoder" is for decoding the build codes.
