  1. I’m thinking of trading my 2019 Octavia vRS TSI for a Superb. I had one as a courtesy car a couple of months ago (no idea which model, it was a diesel hybrid with lots of bells and whistles). I really liked the additional refinement and comfort (I think I’m finally getting old) and the fact it still had physical heater controls (the main reason I’m not interested in the Mk4 Octavia). Having looked at the model line up I really like the look of the 280 Sportline Plus. There are only two 2023 cars for sale on AutoTrader. They’re both at Marshall’s, have near identical specs and put on AT within a couple of months of being registered (presumably by the dealer). Both have been reduced in price by £4k and now sit around £35k. Should I be concerned that both have been for sale for over 4 months?. Is this model / spec / colour a good buy or a bit of a white elephant? What would be a good buy price (will trade my vRS in elsewhere)? Should I try to overcome my dislike of chrome and large arch gaps and look at the L&K? Is it a better spec than the SL+?
  2. "They" being the car supermarket? I doubt they have access to Skoda's database. Call a Skoda dealer and ask the service department.
  3. Just checked mine and it looks like the vRS logo is part of the silver trim. Third edit lucky... I think this might be the correct part. Has an Octavia logo https://www.kopacek.com/skoda/octavia-iii/octavia-iii-steering-wheel-plate-for-flat-bottom-stwheel-octavia
  4. What do you mean by 'inconsistent'? It only works occasionally? It stops halfway? You need to be specific about the fault(s).
  5. I didn't know what ADAS was so I googled it. Seems Chips Away have form for this 🤣
  6. There's a sticker on the inside of the filler cap with the tyre sizes and pressures but yes, 225/40 is the correct size for 18" Gemini wheels. And the answer to your next question is Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 😁
  7. Well, today I learned 😖 In my somewhat pathetic defence I thought that because I only ever have the 2 on at the same time and that's what my BMW did (though that didn't have a separate switch for mirror heating) 😁
  8. Heated rear window needs to be on and the switch needs to be in this position for the mirror heating to work.
  9. Of course I saw it 🙄 The point is that insurance companies will try anything to avoid paying out. The OP spend a year of his life and no doubt countless hours of stress and worry taking it to the ombudsman with no guarantee they'd rule in his favour.
  10. I'll just leave these here... Insurance cancelled due to painted wheels ! Insurance voided due to car having PPF! HELP PLEASE!
  11. Surely there must be a perm live and switched live in the rear of the car you can piggy back off? I know the accessory socket in my boot is permanently live. Does the rear wiper have a switched live?
  12. Fitted. Wow. That's very cheap.
  13. No idea. There was this thread on Pistonheads a while back; https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=1729057&i=0 and if you search alloy wheel colour change insurance you'll find several mentions of declaring it.
  14. Gemini wheels are Anthracite. You could get them redone in another colour - I'm considering smoke silver or Anthracite without the diamond cut myself - but some insurance companies view this as a modification. There's pics of black and silver in this thread; And the original paint code is HA7 according to this thread;
  15. I'm having 2 new 225/40x18 Eagle Asymmetric 6's fitted today. £108 each which is a bit more than I can get them for but I'd rather go to a place I trust to do a good job. Pilot Sport 4's would be £124 each from the same place.
  16. I posted this on another tyre thread a couple of months ago; Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6. I've been using Eagle F1's since before they were asymmetric. I don't / won't buy anything else. Excellent grip, relatively quiet, wear well and work surprisingly well down to really cold temps (I've driven a BMW 330i in slushy snow on them with no problems). https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Goodyear/Eagle-F1-Asymmetric-6.htm
  17. I have all my albums by artist and album and shuffle randomly plays tracks from different artists / albums.
  18. Android Auto was a separate app until a couple of months ago. Now its just a tab in Connected Devices in Settings (at least on Samsung Galaxy's it is). Looks exactly the same though 🤷‍♀️
  19. When you go into Connected cars in AA on the phone do you see your car? Also, is the "Add new cars to AA" option enabled? If yes to both, my only other suggestion is to clear AA data on the phone and try starting again. Wireless AA works over wifi not Bluetooth and isn't supported on our cars.
  20. Try connecting from the phone. You might need to search for Android Auto in settings, they seem to have removed the dedicated app. Select "Connect a Car" Things that I've found problematic: Cable - try a different one. Connections seem quite sensitive to the cable. Insertion - ensure the cable is inserted squarely into the car's usb port. It isn't a tight fit. Detection - quickly unplug and re-plug the phone end of the cable. Also worth searching online for you phone model and Android Auto. Some phones can be a bit problematic / temperamental.
  21. There's an option in radio settings that changes the function of the arrow buttons. I think it also applies to the steering wheel buttons. Arrow buttons: - Setting the function of the function surfaces ■ Presets- Switch between stations stored under the preset buttons ■ Stations - Switch between all available stations of the selected broadcasting range
  22. Next March. I stuck the car on the ramps and gave them a working with a pry bar and there was no movement so that's what I was thinking 😁
  23. Thanks. Mine don't squeak. They've apparently "separated" and I want to know if it really is an issue or not. If it is the Skoda dealer wants £530 odd to do it but I know a decent mechanic so I'll probably get him to look at it.. I can no longer be arsed to do things like that myself.
  24. My car was in for a minor service today. According the dealer I need two new lower control arms. They've helpfully supplied a video (link to an extract of the relevant bit below). Do I need to get them replaced or is this a bit of scaremongering? If they need replacing can the bushes be done separately. Video: https://1drv.ms/v/s!AkRfMWMlZZpfhZAgGDZFLX4LzIZItA?e=iemy2o Car is a 2019 vRS with approx 45,000 miles which seems quite low to be replacing suspension bushes. Screengrab of the clearest shot of one of the bushes:
