  1. The car has presented the delightful little amber light of doom. Will run a code reader over and see what the story is. I'm hoping it'll bring another code with it.
  2. If it's the same "stubby" hatch as mine then I don't think that's removable, and is part of the whole tailgate.
  3. Have we considered a wheel bearing at all?
  4. I hope you reconsider your decision, as you'll be very much missed as a valued member of the community. Although, if you still are intent on leaving, I wish you the very best in whichever endeavours you participate in. Cheers. 😞
  5. Aye you're right. It didn't cost me too much so I'm not really too bothered, thankfully. Good shout. I'll have a shot at the weekend I think. I haven't got any recent readings, but can do that tonight, once I remember how to work VCDS-Lite!
  6. The dog-bone mount I've got here is the same brand (I'll get around to that eventually, it's not any worse at the moment), seems like a good bit of kit, and I'm sure I've fitted more of their stuff before.
  7. I bought a Febi Bilstein one. I've had their stuff before and it's been pretty decent, so hoping this is the same. Was about the guts of a tenner and was here in a day or two.
  8. It's a common issue for coil packs to go on these. My first was cylinder 1, which prompted an EML. Then it was one of the other two that failed and would misfire badly under load etc, so just replaced the other two, and kept the less visibly knackered one as a spare. I prefer these pencil-type coils to the ones that requires you to replace them all.
  9. It's a Mk1 Fabia, now that I've sorted this, something else will go!
  10. Replaced the coolant temperature sensor today, preliminary testing indicates the code has gone, but will do some more runs with the car to see if that is still the case. Photo below is to help anyone who may be looking for the same sensor on their car.
  11. Thoroughly rate this lot. TPS, TMS Motor Spares, AutoParts (who will get you stuff through TPS) etc. Avoid EuroCrapParts and Autodoc unless using the latter for specialty parts, the former is just useless.
  12. Thanks, Lee! As always, I was told by my best mate that I'm another year older but not any wiser, the cheeky sod that he is, but I can't disagree.
  13. Oh god how much fun this has been! £210ish in just over a fortnight, with another couple of bits that still need fixed. In no real order: Battery was pan breid. 65 of your finest smackeroonies. Needed a wheel bearing. Nearly 150 quids. Beyond that, it's been trouble free and I'm totally not at my wits end as I can hear the clunking of drop links and Christ knows what else. Coolant temperature sensor is coming in the post, will fit that and top up any anti-freeze that decides to make a bid for freedom. It has the MOT test next month too, that'll be a fun one. There's nothing 'big ticket' that I can imagine it failing for beyond emissions due to this running rich (it thinks it's running lean) issue, which I'm hoping will be sorted by this coolant temperature sensor. If that sorts it, it'll be good for another year, I hope. Beyond all the doom and gloom, I've been ****ing about with coding stuff using one of those 'LAUNCH' devices you see the YouTubers go on about. My Grampa bought one for his Insignia and it does a cracking job with the Fabia too, having enabled the auto lock/unlock, and hopefully* the trailer indicator dash warning doowhacky. *I say hopefully, as I haven't tested it with the trailer yet. So, dear reader, this is where you and in turn, myself, are up to. It's chaos here as my car is shoogled to bits thanks to East Ayrshire Council's road maintenance, or lack thereof. Now, if you'll excuse me, there's a coffee and a slice of my birthday cake from a few days ago beckoning me.
  14. Missed 72k on the Fabia. I'll try and get 73k when it comes around.
  15. I had some, they became a faff in the end up, and a few went flying with an almighty ping. Took them all off, car now looks alright without them, to be honest.
  16. These panels can be replaced, IIRC. Cannot remember how the hell you remove them, though.
  17. These hoses can still fail, though. Many moons ago, we had it on a Fiat that wasn't even a year old at the time.
  18. Cheers guys. I'll get a hold of one. I take it you mean with VCDS?
  19. I reckon it'll be fine as-is. I'll PM you to wheech the money in your direction soon.
  20. Have not touched the coolant temperature sensor on this. Although, I would not be surprised if it was actually the problem the whole time, knowing my luck/sod's law etc.
  21. Bringing this thread back to life, Provia and Velvia are pushing/towing (depending on where you go) £20 a roll now, I can't get cheap colour negative, so been buying B&W negative stuff like Ilford or Fomapan. Haven't finished my roll of Fomapan yet though.
